So what do you guys think Bandana Dee, Magolor, and Susie's spirit battles are gonna be like?

Bandana Dee and Elma had their greatest moment of probability before their spirits were shown where they practically seemed like locks, but now that they're shown it seems like spirits don't deconfirm people, otherwise there'd be no Nintendo newcomers left for DLC outside of characters who don't exist yet (think Corrin, Greninja, Roy). Would Nintendo really pick no Nintendo DLC characters? Considering Sakurai made decisions for the base game and Nintendo for the DLC, something as minor as a spirit isn't going to lock people out at this point. Bandana Dee is still a frontrunner in my eyes, I still consider bigger non playable roles like assist trophies and mii costumes to be deconfirmations. Most of his competition is still dead.

This all coming from someone who doesn't even support him. You guys have good reason to be optimistic. Odds are looking much better for you than they were during the base game.

Alright, I've been convinced at this point. I'm now leaning towards spirits not being deconfirmations. Rooting now for Dee, Rayman, Elma and others.

So, reflecting on things... I still don't like our chances everyone. Let's say that spirits don't deconfirm, that means Bandana Dee has a lot more competition now.

All characters that have merits of getting in, also being spirits (assuming the Geno player icon means he has a spirit). I would like to see some of them, but not as much as Dee. But honestly, that's a lot of competition, and that's not accounting for SE character (which could or couldn't be Geno), Steve, FE3Houses, or Gen8. There might even be more spirits that could easily be in that I'm not seeing...

I don't think things look so good, and I'm also worried about our chances in the next Smash game, which is years down the road, if it does cut the roster way back like anticipated... Any calming words you guys?

Bandana Dee competes with Bandana Dee? Man I don't like the sound of that.

Anyway, I'd cross out Geno from that list. Nintendo choosing the selction of newcomers heavily damages his chances and he still could be an unseen Mii costume from all we know. Shantae as well. She was never likely imo, not big enough for a third-party. Dixie, Tails and Rayman, while likelier also all have their own problems. Bandana Dee is still the likeliest on that list imo.

I have to say... I have extremely mixed feelings right now...
On one hand, I'm glad he's in the game in some form and I don't think Spirits disconfirm characters.
On the other... I'm pretty pessimistic and think his chances are a bit lower from this.

I still have hope that he could make it as DLC and his competition is still very low, but Nintendo handling the DLC makes me think it will be Edelgard and/or Gen 8 Pokemon + some third parties.
I'll still keep the hope alive, but my expectations are a bit lower.

I just think we might get 2-3 third parties because all but one of the DLC newcomers for Smash 4 were third parties. It kind of sets a precedent for now. I definitely think we will get someone from Square Enix and maybe Namco.

I want to be proven wrong though.

Sure, but those were entirely decided by Sakurai and approved by Nintendo. Now the reverse is happening so it could go differently.

Besides, Bayonetta is only a 3rd party character on a technical plan. Many see her as a Nintendo foster child - they publish her, they saved her from
a certain death, they promote her along with their own character, etc... I can't consider her a true 3rd party like Cloud or Ryu are.

Also, everyone should listen to Genghis Khan by Dschingis Khan, then Hyness Phase 2, then both of them put together and notice the odd similarities.

At this point in time, we have no idea what Spirits mean for DLC. The mere fact that Fighters have their own special Spirits that cannot be used is enough to have people theorizing that normal Spirits cannot be fighters. Is this true? We don't know. Is it a possibility? Absolutely.
People are allowed to speculate.

Because most people only seem to care about 3rd parties nowadays and think those are the only characters "Hype" enought to add than actual Nintendo characters in a NINTENDO fighting game. I cringe everytime someone suggest characters like Crash Bandicoot, Master Chief, Sora, Steve, Doom Guy, etc. When Nintendo still has quite a few great characters left to add. To me the people who request those types of characters A. don't realize the costs/contracts Nintendo has to go through to get these characters, B. Only request these characters because they lack any sort of history of Nintendo as they only play Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon so any character not from those franchises they don't care about, or C. request them constantly because they want Smash Bros. to become something it's not and become "Videogame Characters: The fighter" or you have people who legitimately think Goku and Naruto stand any amount of chances and basically turn Smash into mugen.

The only 3rd party characters I think have an actual LEGIT place in Smash (outside of the ones we already have) are Slime from Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Rayman, Geno, and Banjo. Geno and Banjo because deep down they are basically Nintendo characters even if Nintendo doesn't own them. Rayman due to Ubisoft's and Nintendo's relationship he got a trophy in Smash 4 and he's a spirit. Monster Hunter well because MH is huge in Japan, huge on Nintendo consoles, and is already represented through Rathalos. Slime because DQ is pretty iconic to Nintendo systems. Also I could see a Yokai-Watch character being added since Nintendo is making the choices and they REALLY want Yokai to take off over here in the West.

Part of me feels Nintendo could do some 3rd parties because they know they would sell gangbusters to non-hardcore Nintendo fans who play Smash. But part of me also feels the whole reason Nintendo decided to make the DLC picks WAS to prevent more licensing costs, legal contracts, music rights, etc.

This idea... Actually isn’t a bad idea at all.

Alliances like this have worked in the past, I specifically remember how after Smash 4 speculation ended, the cut veteran, Ridley, and K. Rool supporters all banded together to form a new movement, and what would you know, it ended up working for them.

I’d say this is a pretty great idea, what would everyone think of us all banding together as a major movement?

...But they did, you weren’t here for it but when groups were a thing there was a whole group dedicated to the matter, and it doesn’t really have to be a recreation but rather just a movement with similar goals is all, just in our own little way.

Dude calm down, you’re taking this way too into heart, it’s just a little alliance to show that everyone is working together, and there’s a logic error in you telling us not to be supportive when you’ve literally encouraged us to continue supporting Bandana Dee.

Again, I ask you: What exactly do you mean by "goals"? Are you gonna just annoy Sakurai on twitter like many have in the past? What's the point? What reason would this alliance have to exist outside of a roleplay?

I also want to point out that the next Smash is at least 5 years away. Anything done now wouldn't have any effect. If you want to support a character for Smash 6 then simply buy and enjoy that character's franchise.

edit: I also want to point out that you'd be ostracizing and patronizing other fanbases by excluding them from this "alliance". That wouldn't be fair to the rest of the users on this forum
