since when were there tricks? it's a spacing matchup...other than abusing shield if you know your opponent is too sparse on the dtilt and grab..it's kind of hard to answer that kind of question if you aren't actually posting what your problem is or what the marth is doing. is he camping you a lot? with what? is he catching you as you jump away? do you just die to random fsmashes a lot? too few details

my problem is that that matchup is REALLY BORING ;_; lol i guess i'm not asking for advice so much as complaining. but if there are any little tricks i haven't heard of those could still help.

like i dunno, maybe you can bair his shield and have time to crouch before he can shieldgrab. or something. i think you can actually do that on someone.

vs. zelda you can fsmash her shield and crouch before she can shieldgrab, it's kind of sad.

Puff/Zelda in general is really pathetic. I used to think Zelda could do something, but crouching is OP.

Just always marth killer when he recovers low and itll improve ur edgeguarding a lot.

Also, that mu isnt boring at all, there is always something to think about or do and both characters are constantly hovering in areas that can lead to instant death...

Versus marth:

Fsmash a lot yourself

i dunno dude, you might squeeze an extra win here or there with some random cheap tactic, but u'll do better by just learning how to space better like kp said

yeah that's the problem, i pretty much know how to win but i don't like it :/ that's why i'm asking for dumb tricks instead of general/good advice. besides, this is the social thread, not the srs bsns one.

I sometimes troll marths with dthrow > rollout on FD.

It works a lot more frequently than it should.
lolll see that's more like it

also, i've never thought marth vs puff was boring...it's only boring if the puff sucks, then i go on autopilot and still two stock them...

maybe it's just me but i have a lot more going on in my head when i fight puff than when i fight fox or falco. though maybe that just means i'm not as good at fighting fox or falco, who knows

honestly i think the most important thing in the matchup for marth is punishing landing lag for both of the characters. jiggs also has to create decent responses for dealing with dashdance camping (harder on fd by far for jiggs), and the marth has to prevent the jiggs from using multiple jumps too much. That said, preventing the latter is rather easy so most of the matchup comes down to reaching a good spacing on her land and then punishing her as she tries to take off or move.

of course this is the basic concept of spacing to begin with, but i feel like jiggs more than others punishes you if you just go in a lot (bair too good).. you're much better just pressuring the landing a lot and reacting than directly competing with jiggs bair.

as for tricks, hmm, if they are using dashdance a lot instead of aerial games you have options for going for more risky stuff that can lead to upair setups..but honestly if they are playing a heavy air game you should probably just space yourself with bair.

If i were jiggs and the marth was dashdancing i would just focus on safely taking space...occasional bairs and empty hops into fast lands..if you break his spacing and actually get in then you can get that upair/uptilt you want. remember that he needs a dash grab to grab you while crouching. meaning that if you break his spacing and get in and he is a good player he is more likely to use other moves/dash dance into a grab..meaning you can fsmash on reaction as he is running away if you're expecting it.

still, marth's dashdance is hard for jiggs to deal with..pick a nice small platform stage instead of FD or stadium or pick dreamland where you live so long that it doesn't matter that he can dashdance.

Picking Yoshi's as Puff against Marth? Sounds risky. Unless you just mean Battlefield/FoD.

Actually, Battlefield might not be that small...

I'm not good, so I won't be able to give the right advice and stuff, but I guess I can say a few things. One thing is that you should use back throw in that MU. For some reason it works so well. xD
I think somewhere on the Jigglypuff boards there is something that tells you how to DI Marth's throws so you can't get thrown into a forward smash. Also, if Marth ends up not spacing the forward smash correctly you can rest him out of shield. Crouch more under grabs. I don't think you should use down air as much as you did or some of the times you did use it. Like around 2:31. And I'm too tired to say anything else, and I don't know how useful this will be. I'll let the better Jigglypuff mains say stuff.

That would be appreciated, Mahone. When I do get the chance to play others again at like a smashfest or something I'll hopefully get something.
What Krynxe said made me laugh a little too much. =P

when he's recovering low with up-b, do that light shield angle thing at the ledge while facing him, and rest him when you slip off

Hi everyone, I'm most possible a new puff main around here and need to know some basics. I play brawl at #1 game, so I think I can adapt better to puff than Falco or Fox (who are my mains atm)
here is my little and n00b puff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF9Cl6WGAKY

thanks:3
My biggest piece of advice is that you seem to always want to recover to the ledge. You took the most damage and got killed most frequently there.

The beauty of jigglypuff's recovery is that you can just float over everything and not even bother with a risky, well-guarded ledge.

tl;dr: Recover high, you are Jigglypuff.
Every single character can punish a low recovery, very few can successfully punish a high one.

You are doing the right aerials for sure, you need to work on your spacing a bit and you'll be much more successful.
Case in point: Stay out of marth's midrange, every single tactic he has relies on someone to be in that zone. Keep him far/close enough that you're not in the dangerzone and the flow of the match will be more in your control.
