Sandbag: Add: [3.] b.3.b transf. To underperform in a race or competition in order to gain an unfair handicap or other advantage. slang.

what does that have to do with me?
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the Melee era where you were known to 'sandbag' whether that was true or not.

you don't understand. my post is saying "people who say i sandbagged don't know what sandbagging really means"

if you read the definition, you will understand

Oh I see. Well, if you don't call anything you did in Melee 'sandbagging' because it doesn't match the definition of sandbagging, then it doesn't really matter anyways because it's a long established inside joke(?) about you sandbagging. Same thing with the 'Isai is too good' saying. That is why you get a bunch of people making similar jokes about you in your Youtube videos, lol. And that is exactly what Battlecow just did but on Smashboards.

I'd say just take those things with a grain of salt even if they're misusing the word 'sandbagging'.

I'd actually argue that people have largely adopted a slightly different meaning of 'sandbagging' to just not trying as much as they normally would just because and not necessarily because they are trying to gain an unfair handicap or advantage.
OR NOT

The smash usage of sandbag doesn't necessarily connotate doing it in order to gain an advantage later

Glow why would I be talking about melee? Lol

Gen. 2: Isai underperforms because he was using less-than-optimal characters

Apex: Sensei plans to underperform by using a less-than-optimal character

my meaning was pretty obvious

Isai I still think that trying to win but using less-than-best characters is sandbagging, even if they're pretty good characters. I'm not even saying it's a bad thing I'm just saying.

That's where the whole 'Isai sandbags' notion came from, lol. I get your joke now, though.

I don't really think using worse characters is sandbagging if you try your hardest with them, but I can definitely see why people would disagree.

sandbagging is like

doing badly to drop into loser's bracket in order to have an easy ride to top 16 or w/e

it's not just playing badly on purpose, because playing a B-move only friendly isn't sandbagging

and hey, if hyrule is around then going all link is viable :awesome:

It's always been used to mean simply playing suboptimally in the smash community, yo.

Like, everyone agreed that mango was sandbagging when he played mario at tourneys (ew melee)

that's always what i've thought it meant, apparently i was wrong. ashamedly i have not played 64 in a week and have instead been playing melee. fox is ridiculously fun in that game. also i am convinced i am the best marth in the world, thanks to mah sich combo ability that years of 64 has instilled in me.

well maybe people don't know how to play vs mario as opposed to spacies/falcon

since the only notable dr mario main is shroomed, iirc

and since mango is just good at smash in general, that's an advantage for him

Lol ciaza you are the worst on the forums when it comes to going off-topic. And that's saying something. And that's coming from me. I mean, I remember in some thread (Hyrule thread?) you started talking about anime to aa out of nowhere. I am by no means a stickler for rules but I was like "wut is this even".

Sorry for calling you but I find it amusing :awesome:

This is ironically off-topic.

I understand the need to share some stuff going on with you but that's what the social thread is for I guess.

You were probabaly a good person for his parents to ask "How was your day?" I was that guy who just mumbled "fine" regardless of what happened.

mum: how was your day?
ciaza: fine.
mum: what did you do?
ciaza: nothing.
mum: nothing?
ciaza: yep.

*silence for rest of car trip home.*

i see far too much of myself in takanashi to feel comfortable about my life
bah god me too. working at a restaurant where i get beat up every day by a crazy woman, but staying because one of the waitresses is cute is something i would do.

Lol my mom and I have epic debates about random **** that last hours. She's the best debater I've ever met that can make anything seem plausible, although that might be partly because she has pretty much the exact same type of mind so I always understand her thinking.

And sorry for making this thread go off-topic I'm a hypocrite :awesome:. But I never said I have a problem with it, just when it's out of nowhere like ciaza does sometimes.

AFAIK, Isai is being housed by Megavolt (I think). And that's it, lol. Megavolt should house all the ssb64 players.

Yo, tell megavolt that he doesn't know me, but that I owe him a debt of gratitude for his sublime invention.
