Yeah, sorry. I really was considering going, but I have to be back at JMU earlier than originally expected. I'll try next year (assuming it'll still be in New York)!

Star King are you definitely coming up with Clubba?
you're a BEAST, thanks for agreeing to house me.

ill make food for everyone that stays with you (if its ok to use a stove/range) on one or more of the days cuz it would be WAY cheaper (and taste better...usually) than fast food. as for breakfast, (would be best meal to make, might be at venue for lunch/dinner) i can make french toast (mm cinnamon/rasin bread), eggs with one or more of sausage/bacon/ham/canadian bacon/mexican sausage/vegetables/cheese omelette scrambled style (hope they sell good tortillas over there if we make breakfast...), pancakes, waffles (if u got an iron), cubed/shredded potato hash, toast and as is standard, all/any of these can be made in sandwich form with a crossiant or whatever else. i'm sure i/we can make other **** too just can't think of it. so long as we are feeding at least 4 ppl it will be better/cheaper than fast food....granted it wouldn't be FASTER to make any of this.

as for lunch or dinner...LOL not going list anything. can make cold-cut sanwiches?

Hope to see you there Jel.

But yeah get hyped?! Isai, boom, nintendude, sensei, all confirmed?! Can some one hit up tigerbombz? XD Dat ***** never travels
dunno if its for sure, but at Genesis2 Tiger said that he was retiring/it was his last tourney.
i'm down for saving money when it comes to eating/anything considering money spent on travel.

In 'N Out by Genesis 2 was way overhyped for the taste imo, was still good. no offense to the restaurant's food, it just wasn't what was expected with the hype.

Yeah, sorry. I really was considering going, but I have to be back at JMU earlier than originally expected. I'll try next year (assuming it'll still be in New York)!

So how are we gonna seed this event?
I'll consult with the TOs of the other side events and see how they are doing it. Though, I think it's safe to say that Isai and Boom are #1 and #2 seeds. Then there's a big bunch of us (myself, you, megavolt, Sensei, Koro, etc that are in the same ballpark in terms of skill level that would be distributed throughout the bracket. Then I'd place other good players like Chain-Ace, PC Chris, Vudujin in the bracket accordingly and fill in the rest with the no names. I'd prefer to do it as unbiased as possible but that's pretty hard to do without pools.

It's already been decided by Alex that it's going to be a 64 man bracket. Melee and Brawl are going to be 64 brackets as well. We won't have the necessary setups to do pools as well assuming we cap out at 64 entrants, pool TV's will be allocated to Brawl since saturday is Brawl day in addition to 64. We'll most likely be doing Nintendude's method of seeding. But it will definitely be seeded accurately, It's going to be me Hamburglar and Nintendude running it, I won't let anyone get screwed.

im not sure of the schedule, but i think you should push to get 64 some hype

have some high profile players from the other games talk up the late bracket matches, surely that'll raise interest

Yeah we definitely are. I'm going to try to get all the Melee players I can to watch, can't say anything about the Brawl players since they'll be doing their pools.

With 40 players coming to this maybe pools would be best. What could be done is have 5 pools of 8 players where top 3 of of eatch pool make it in to the bracket and just make sure that the top players are not in the same pool. Also what rules will be used for the whole thing ?. Will we use the The Official 64BR Recommended Ruleset ? The whole pool thing can be cut down even more if need be but the more we cut the more setups that will be needed to keep things moveing.

I am glad you guys are getting enough people to do pools.

However

I do not think it is a good idea to do pools this year. It is just too much for us to do when we have a lot of other games to make sure are running well with their pools.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we will be attempting to have at least 2-3 setups each day so that you guys can play all you want.

lame lame lame lame lame^^
pools would be sick.

Okay.
No one has mentioned this. And i know were all thinking about it.

WHATS THE DEAL WITH FOOD?

Will there be food stands at the venue?
will we have to walk into town to get some good old micky d's and/or BK?
Will there even be fast food resturants in the town!

These are all questions that need to be answered!

Kero needs his fuel.
Nothings worse than smashing it up on an empty stomach.
(except for smashing it up when your hands are cold, because that **** ****ing sucks)

Kero - there are a bunch of places to eat in teh venue itself. Subway / Pizza / Wendy's

Also, imo you should be glad we care enough to even put 64 there. I am sorry to be blunt but we do not have to have that event to get a lot of people hyped in general for the tournament. If you were joking sorry for being blunt but I mean...you do realize how much work I am putting in JUST to get everyone what they want?

Pools need to be power of 2. You can't run a bracket with 5 one-seeds, it will be unbalanced and unfair.

With 40 people the best thing to do would be either 4 pools with 10 people, top 4 > 16 person bracket or 8 pools with 5 people, top 2 > 16 person bracket. Regardless, as Alex Strife mentions pools is not particularly vital to the success of 64.

Honestly, dude? It's a smash tourney. 64 is a smash game. We have 40 people at least entering that ****, and it needs pools. You can't get them, that's fine, and I even understand that you've promised friendly TV's for Brawl and melee (ew ew ew ew ew). But you're also allocating a bunch of resources to completely random ****- How many people are entering mortal kombat? ****ing Pokemon, really? There's no way that having a 20-man MK9 side event is as important as allocating 4 tv's and a little time for one of the three smash games :/

Also, friendly advice here, when you run a gigantic tourney, it's expected that you do a lot of work. You do have a right to be thanked and appreciated for the work you put in, but you're not entitled to use it as an excuse to run a ****ty tourney.

I have never ran a ****ty tournament in my smash career.

I explained why there will be no pools. If you are not happy then do not come. I have no issues refunding money until Dec 31st. Pools take time and Mk 9 is not a side event as we are putting $500 into the prize pool to get players from the Tri-state to come...we are trying to make it more than smash.

64, as much as I love it, is a game that we can only run bracket for. If you want pools then IDK...ultimately you will all do what you want so just do it...

You know what..yea go do pools forget what i said.

But hey, don't worry about that. Pools (or even setups), for the biggest NA 64 tourney of all time? Who needs that when you could give the MK9 tourney (which has 6 people registered ATM) $500 out of your $30 venue fees?

Sorry for the disrespect, Strife, but ew, some bonehead errors going on here.

ya you know cause sponsors gave money to that.

How about you guys do what you want? That is what you want then do it. I am thinking ahead to avoid things becoming redic and running out of time.

If you have players flying out just for this one game ya better let them run it the way they wanna run it. Also we know you guys will be busy with other things that have alot of players but it dont mean you cant help out here and there this is part of running as TO and part of the job when you run a big event like this. Also thinking if you had 40 players show up to a event and they found out about how you dont seem to care for a event that is listed as a Main Event you may have to deal with more then refunding players money.

Only 2-3 setups? ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy
I do hope players bring setups and tvs or this will take years.

But hey, don't worry about that. At least the MK9 tourney (which has 6 people registered ATM) will have a $500 bonus to the pot.
Why dont we get a $500 bonus this would help out ssb so much and make more wanna play. I know MK9 is cool and all but if only 6 players that are playing ya really should put it in to something that has alot of players.

'parently the money for the MK9 pot comes from sponsors, so that's cool.

And yeah, people are gonna have to bring their own **** lol

Nintendude/Hamby- are you guys gonna run pools, then?
