i found out an easier way to RP sorta. On Platfroms u can just drop and imidently dair and ul cancel the dair on the platform and the pikmin will move to the back.

I personaly never thought about this lol

That's an extension of platform canceling, which means it's only usable on SV, YI, Lylat, and RC (maybe Pirate Ship). Still, I hadn't ever thought of this either, this could be immensely useful when trying to net kills

platform cancel > platform cancel RP > upsmash?? o.o

kinda like that kill fino talked about with platform cancel to upsmash but with platform RP to get to a purp or something ^^;

no, that wouldn't work; as someone mentioned, platform canceling while rising desyncs pikmin. However, I guess with this variation they never enter the jumping state so they never desync. This is cool though; it's like a instant shuffle - iRP :D

Hey guys, just thought about something: has anyone ever tried platform dropped uairs OoS? I might be referring to the tech wrong, but you perform it by shielding and slowly tilting your control stick down - not fast enough to side step and not slow enough to remain in shield. The result is that you'll just fall through the platform, and I don't think you have the 7 frame shield drop either. I don't think that many characters would have time to take the hit/shield and then follow Oli to punish it. Uair hits on frame 8, so idk if that's quick enough to be usable, and it doesn't auto cancel even from the middle platform of BF so it doesn't have combo potential. Still, could this possibly be useful when trying to get away from someone?

They don't desync if you're already on the platform, but they do when you're jumping up to it; I just did it several times and that's what happened to me.
hmmmm o.o well then nevermind ^^; but i do like this sorta kinda new way of RPing :D (goo)

You're forgetting a LOT of stages.... including obvious ones like BF? lmao

What are you doing to platform cancel? Like I said, there are a variety of different ways to do it. I've never had the pikmin desync or screw up when I've platform canceled...

I'm talking about the variation where you smash down on the c-stick just as you rise through the platform. Is this actually possible on other stages?

Every stage with a platform... lol.
No way...someone specifically told me it only works on stages with moving platforms, I gotta go try this out again

edit: I'm trying it on BF and I absolutely cannot get it to work. Am I timing it wrong? Are you talking about PACS/RP and not platform canceling?

well.. get a job.. get a car+licence.. and move ur *** to Dallas Texas >.> <3 (goo)
Bah, a car would be a waste of money; I don't have a need for it while I'm at school and paying to keep it parked would be AWFUL in Philly. As for the job, I had a lot of things that kept me from doing so this summer, and I've got work-study during the school year. And **** Dallas :)

there's a solution to every scenario... its just a matter of can you think of it or not

BTW, WiFi sucks balls... please don't use it to gauge skill

Like everyone has said, wifi is horrible if you want to see who's better than who. You might be two stocking a guy on wifi who would two stock you irl. The same could be said the other way around. Wifi isn't a COMPLETE waste, but never ever decide the skill of someone based off upon it.

You just really need to start going to more tournies. When there play friendlies with the best players there.

That's why I'm so excited to be going to this tourney this weekend; I finally get to see if I'm as bad as I feel on wifi or better than that - I'm guessing it's the second :D

i learned 90% of what i know through wifi and thought i was good because of it...look what happened :bee: btw bob, maybe if you had a more open personality it would help you adapt to players and mindgame better

Yeah you can learn matchups and mindgames to a certain extent on wifi. All I'm saying is that you can't gauge skill on wifi, like Logic said. Wifi is incredibly inconsistent with player results.

Ya, look what happened to dabuz. lol

I seemed to have gotten a lot better in the long run, but these last 3 months I hit a standstill. I just seem to be getting worse. Maybe I'm not asking enough questions on these boards. I dunno, wifi did help me improve for a long time but now i seem to get worse.

i dont know how to respond to dabuz about my personality.....i dunno what that has to do wit anything.

Your personality and attitude are two different things.

Your attitude is what needs to change. Instead of approaching wifi with a competitive attitude, you need to approach it with an open attitude.

In tourney you play to win, but on wifi you play to learn.

I do approach wifi in a competitive attitude. Maybe thats what needs to change. Everytime I lose I think the foe is better than me. I never blame wifi unless it's really laggy. I don't consider how different things would be if the match took place offline. If it's playable I don't care how laggy it is.

When I've faced people sometimes they complain about how bad the lag is, while I don't even notice. Maybe it's because I'm not much of a technical player....I dunno. I always thought blaiming wifi was just an excuse for performing badly. I've almost 2 stocked affinitys MK on wifi, (i had 3 stocks he had 1, he quit when I took his second stock) but ive also lost just as badly to randoms. I dunno, what exactly I shud do, shud I still play wifi to practice? Am I worse ot the randoms ive lost to. Ive only played in IRL tournies.

Well, every time you lose it is because of lag. But every time you win it's also because of lag. Lag on wifi affects everything and the outcome of every match. To suggest otherwise is being ignorant. That still doesn't give you the right to john about a match though. If someone can beat you repeatedly on wifi, then they are capable of beating you on wifi. It means nothing else.

Not exactly.

Some things you learn on wifi will pass on to tournies. Some things won't.

Like I said it's not like wifi is a complete waste, but tournies are VERRRYYYY different. But you're more prepared than if you hadn't been playing wifi at all. But once you start regularly going to tournies you'll see how inferior wifi is. Wifi shouldn't be taken seriously lol.

every time you play a wifi match, consider these questions: what would i have been punished for offline

what wouldn't i have been punished for offline?

what did i do that got me punished the most

is there any move i did that let my opponent approach me, kill me, or rack up huge damage?

did my opponent do anything i could punish irl?

did my opponent mess up things that he wouldn't irl irl?

did i mess up things i could do irl?

did me or my opponent have better mindgames?

what could i have done different that would make me do better?

what should i keep the same about my playstyle?

i would always ask a few of these to myself after each wifi set, and it really helps a lot, also, if you run into a brick wall, either find different opponents that are still skilled, or take a couple week break from smash including forums

think about it in terms of reaction times and nessacary tech skill, its hard to explain, you kinda just have to think about if a move is too fast/ slow to be punished/punishable, if it is something that can be punished easily but has timing to strict for wifi (mk's nado as an example)
