By "what they don't do" I mean you shouldn't just be looking at at how people are doing damage and getting themselves into advantageous situations, you should be looking at how they avoid damage and keep thmselves out of a disadvantageous situation.

As an example, Luke says the way snake should play against diddy is to not use grenades too much. This is a good example because it's a good idea for snake to spam grenades in almost every matchup, however against diddy it's something you shouldn't do.

Or like something I've learned is that I approach marth with a full hop bair when he's on the ground. Even though it's something I can do in just about every other matchup.

Just look for character specific things like that.

Hey I'm just relaying what luke said to me. I really never intend to learn the snake/diddy matchup.

the snake boards have a motto, "if you cant handle banana's, dont add pineapples"

meaning if you dont have the whole, use bananas against diddy thing down pat, spamming nades is going to make things worse, its quite hard to do, but I'd imagine tibs that since the snake you play most is your brother, his nades do good against you because he knows how to work with bananas.

however when I say using grenades makes things worse and shouldnt be used much, you should still always use them for nade counters and stuff.


scabe, baiting a nade counter can be good, but remember that snakes love to trade damage (ie you both get hurt at the same time) because snake lives forever, and is really vulnerable below 50%.

as for the going up high, you just need to be quicker or try to gimp me at lower percentages, but I know about it and know that snakes best defense is to go up as fast as possible.

watching for things not to do would be for example, using fox's shine to reflect samus homing missiles, they wont hit samus, and samus can zair you everytime guaranteed.

yeahh a' can handle them pretty well, which makes it so much harder to approach....i actually think that snake has the advantage there coz well its like versing DK. doesnt die and kills early, difference is though, snake has some madt projectile that can be handled real well depending on how good the player is.

and thats too short imo, matchs have alot of turnaround and being short like that rewards people who become predictable over a longer period of time.

SF4 argues that 5 minutes is more than enough time to adapt. Also campy matches (eg samus vs link) would be less painful to watch, and matches would be more exciting in general.

If you decrease the time per match, you would increase the number of sets played to compensate.

well the extra matches would make it take just as long anyway so it wouldnt matter too much, except that having only 5 minutes makes it even easier to camp and stall out the timer.
