Well I guess I'll make a general topic on pimples. God who doesn't hate them. My mom had awful acne growing up and my dad had not so great acne that lasted till he was almost 30 so you could say its in my genetics. I'm 14 and I have pretty bad acne. I'm well aware that there are people out there with way worse acne than me but mine is still pretty bad. My dermatologist has put me on isotretinoin also known by its better name accutane(which is technically just a brand of isotretinoin). So for those who don't know isotretinoin is a "miracle drug" that basically gets rid of all your acne forever once your done. So I have 4 months left since I just started today and I'm on a path to a much clearer face. My parents and I were worried that accutane stunts your growth but our dermatologist reassured us that it doesn't. So this is just for general discussion of acne

I never got acne, the occasional spot but that was about it. I think your diet can cause acne too, my friend who eats loads of fatty foods has acne, whereas no one else in his family does.

I might get acne in my future. There is a little mini one on my forehead that really isnt a pimple but looks like the beginnings of one. I might get in my nose though, that is the greasiest part of my face. If I run my fingers through my nose, I take a look at my finger and it got a WHOLE lot shinier....

"I have acne" is an understatement. I have enough acne to fill 2 or 3 glasses full of pus. Sorry if that's disgusting but I have acne everywhere! My nose, cheeks, chin, by my eyes, on my arms at some points, Good god I hate acne!

This may come as a surprise to you, but washing your face DOES help.

Some people just really bad acne that isn't helped that much by washing your face. >_> I'm not sure why you had to say that when you obviously have no knowledge over whether or not he washes his face.

Because I'm a **** lol

If he does wash his face, then maybe he should be smart like you and consult a dermatologist and request some sort of treatment. Or like roacherman said, use Proactive lol

If his acne is as bad as he says he should definitely see a dermatologist. His acne sounds twice as bad as mine so he should have no trouble being eligible for accutane :]

There was a kid who we everyone called Lumpy in middle school.
You can probably tell he didn't have the clearest face.

I also used Accutane. I went through a period of very bad acne in high school, but because I was playing sports, I was afraid to use it because of all the crazy side effects that are possible. Once I graduated, I enrolled in the program, and I will say it worked incredibly well. If you are experiencing anything like what I did, Chapstick is your best friend. For those who don't know, the drug is just a pill that you take, and it dries out your skin to a pretty high degree. I remember a few days where if I forgot my Chapstick, my lips would crack and bleed from being so dried out, it was terrible. Since that was over 2 years ago now, I would say I have never had acne as bad as I did in HS, although it will definitely not "cure" you forever. I still get acne on a regular basis, but it is just on an extremely smaller scale.

I'm pretty sure this is a myth.
Actually it is true whether you like it or not XD Chocolate in general is one of the worst foods for your face. It depends on how sensitive your skin is also, if you use strong chemicals and have really sensitive skin it might actually do more damage then help and the other way around.

It all depends on the person.

I have the same problems as you since my parents both had acne but I got rid of most of it by just eating healthier, drinking LOTS of water, exercising(sweating helps a lot), and sleeping early(8 hours)

I got pretty bleh skin, easier to irritate then most and if I don't drink about 2 litres of water a day.

My parents tell me to sleep more, drink water, eat less greasy food.

My skin is really dry and sensitive from eczema :(.

I had kinda annoying acne when I was younger but I used proactive and cleared most of it up.

I still have some under my eyes that I can't get rid of for some reason....

Oh well =(

I have somewhat bad acne on my chin, but not as bad as I used to. The thing that sucks for me is that i'm allergic to benzoyl peroxide, which is the active ingredient in like 98% of all acne curing products :embarrass

This is something that my dad taught me that worked really well for me when I was breaking out.
I'll break it down into steps.

1.Wet a wash cloth and put it in the microwave till it's steaming
2.Put the wash cloth on your face till it's starting to lose it's heat (purpose of this is to open your pores)
3.Wash and dry your face
4.Put Alcohol on a cotton swab and completely wipe the grease off your face
( you might want to do this 2-3 times a day.)

This could totally not work for you but, gettin' acne is mainly from your pores being clogged and filled with oil so, keeping the grease off your face is key.

Also, stay away from eating alot of sugar and drink lots of water, it's really good for your skin.

Everybody basically has acne one way or another. My mom had me check in with a dermatologist and it's getting better. Just used whatever prescribed medicine they suggest and you'll be fine. Though, I don't know if it will get rid of acne 100% as I still have a few left.

I had a bad case of acne. I had a lot in my head, my cheeks, some on my nose and chin, and a lot on the upper back and above my chest. I also had some on my shoulders. It was starting to scar my face.

However, I got on accutane and while I still do have acne, it does help clear it up. Almost all of the acne in my forehead is gone, it is no longer on my nose or chin, and it clearing up in other areas.

However, it does have some crazy side effects. Like for example, I currently have chap lips and a very mild back problem.

Yeah, back when I did accutane, I would get chapped lips a lot too. It sucked. Chapped lips are the worst haha.

Luckily though, my acne stays mostly under control now just by washing my face. And yes, Eliminating unhealthy foods helped my acne a lot. I started drinking water only about a year and a half ago and that helped, and I've recently cut back on fast food a lot and that's helping even more.
