I never had acne,I had pretty bad spots from the time I was 13 till about 16.Then they went away.

I sympathise with people who have acne.....must suck.

Oh If anyone doesn't mind me asking.....does acne hurt?(Like a bad spot or something)

It only hurts when you start poking and picking at it. But it doesn't hurt that much.

I've never really had acne. Any minor cases I just put the proper medicine / ointment and it would go away.

I guess I'm lucky.

Good thing my acne isn't as bad as some people I've seen.

And I mean REALLY bad.

I'd recommend accutane only as a lat resort because the side effects are nuts.

Eating healthy, exercise, cutting out unhealthy foods, drinking water, and eating a lot less dairy helps a lot.

I have mild acne. Two things that really helped me was using a benzoyl peroxide wash, and using something called Creme 15 by a company called Yonka. Creme 15 is probably one of the most amazing things I've ever used for acne, but it costs a lot(I get it for almost half price because of where I work though, w00t).

Benzoyl peroxide you need to use with a face lotion for sure because it'll dry out your skin. Also, using a scrub to exfoliate your skin really helps too, because it removes all the dead skin cells on the surface of your face.

I had mildly bad facial acne for about five years, starting in the 7th grade and ending some time in Senior Year of High School. No matter how many medications I took/applied, and even having washed with Neutrogena every day, it never really helped. There was a time when large, super unnattractive pimples were just entirely unpreventable and unavoidable. I just had to bite the bullet and accept that there was nothing I could do about it, hoping that I'd grow out of it eventually. And I did sooner than I thought.

I still suffer from scattered bacne around my torso, upper arms, and sparsely on my fore arms though :ohwell:

To note, I did not exercise well during high school, eat all that healthy, etc. I should have because I know it would have made a difference. I kept telling myself that if I started exercising regularly that the acne would go away, but I had too many other stupid high school things on my mind.

Yeah, back when I did accutane, I would get chapped lips a lot too. It sucked. Chapped lips are the worst haha.
Yeah, I hate them so much, they're starting to peel! I've also gotten nosebleeds lately. My aunt also had bad acnes, but acutane got rid of it until she went through a menopause.

Luckily though, my acne stays mostly under control now just by washing my face. And yes, Eliminating unhealthy foods helped my acne a lot. I started drinking water only about a year and a half ago and that helped, and I've recently cut back on fast food a lot and that's helping even more.
I think I'll do what you suggested. All those pizza's must have made my acne relatively severe.

But if you thought my case was bad before I got on Acutane, just look at this:

Because when you might think you have it bad, there's always worse :p

Regarding the topic, I find bed sheets can make a difference in acne as well. My sheets are pretty thin, which keeps me from sweating while sleeping. Though I haven't had real serious acne since like middle school.

Acne has been a problem that I have been going through for the longest time, I'm 19 years old and I've had acne ever since I was 13 years old. I'm a freshman in college now and I was hoping it would've went away by the end of senior year but I guess I was wrong, I decided to take initiative.

My acne wasn't ever severe, but it was moderate. I went to the dermatologist and I was put on something called Minocycline, the derma didn't think my acne was bad enough to wear I needed Accutane. I took Minocycline and it helped really well for awhile, but then I stopped taking it. The reason I stopped taking it is because Minocycline, like every other pill, does have side effects. There are severe side effects with them as well, although very rare, this particular one in Minocycline isn't. You can get permanent black spots on your body (kinda look like bruises) over your body due to a Vitamin K reduction.

I got off Minocycline immediately, and now this is seriously the best thing. I take Vitamins, just simple vitamins. I take vitamin A, E, Zinc, Lipoic Acid, and Fish oil pills. They have been working just as good as Minocycline, and on top of that, y body feels great thanks to all of the vitamins. Vitamins are the way to go IMO, I think Accutane works better when it comes to acne, but Vitamins help out with other things and is a lot better for your body overall than Accutane is.

Of course, change your diet. Don't eat too much greasy foods, being in college that's hard because a lot of the diner's foods are greasy. I just eat the foods anyway, only drink water, and eat a huge bowl of salad afterwards, it helps. Also, I don't eat any sweets, anything with a lot of sugar I stay away from. Dairy as well, I try to keep the cheese to a minimum.

So would it be rougher skin that gets acne easier that soft skin, or vice-versa?

My friend's mother went to beautician school and learned a few tricks on getting rid of or at least managing acne.
My friend suggested that you should use a rag soaked in damp water on an area with acne. It'll cause it to shrink and pop. After that happens, you wash the area with lemon juice or rubbing alcohol to avoid irritation and redness.
My sister used it the day of her winter formal, and it worked pretty well for her :3

I'm not sure. I would say it mostly depends on your hormones.

I used ummm snaps, hydrocycline? for acne for a short bit(stopped because honestly, I couldn't afford to buy pills for my acne and I hate taking any kind of medication for a long period of time). It worked very well. After I stopped taking it I was super depressed for about a day, though. Only real side effect I can remember other than stomach aches if you don't take it with food.

As someone else mentioned, your sheets can matter. Try using cotton sheets(anything breathable) and change your pillowcase often. Also for spot treatment, using tooth paste can help. Don't leave it on too long, though.

Also, never never never pop zits unless you think you can get ALL of the white head out. It's really important to get all of the gunk. After I pop a zit, I put sacrylic acid or neosporin on it. Something to kill the remaining bacteria. I've heard tea tree oil helps. To help soothe redness, a face cream with aloe vera in it is good.

I'm glad to see that there are others that went through a similar experience than what I had. Trust me, my acne was very painful. Not only did I have it on my face, but it was on my back also. I wouldn't dare wear a white shirt to school, or go without a sweatshirt if I did. Because I was not using Accutane at the time, I was trying any product that was supposed to work. My skin was dried out because of the things I was taking, so it was incredibly itchy, and I couldn't stop from breaking open pimples. I had to throw away some of my shirts because they were just ruined. It was incredibly miserable, and I felt helpless. So after exhausting every other option, I finally went on Accutane. I only felt a couple of the side effects, but nevertheless, it shouldn't be taken lightly. I literally had tried everything, so it was a last ditch attempt for me, but I'm glad it worked.

I had moderate acne through my second year of college. I've probably only had three or four minor breakouts since then. I'm 22 now... so I guess I noticed my acne lessening when I was about 19. I sympathize with anyone who has dealt with it or is dealing with it. It used to really suck waking up in the morning only to see a horde of pimples staring back at me from the mirror. However, now I just see my devilishly handsome face.

or using Proactive XD

NO...

Anyway, i used to have it fairly bad when i was 14. Now i use this weird orange stuff in the shower everyday and it seriously works! However, i have to admit that do have more zits than usual.

btw, i usually don't have much acne on my face....it's on my back! That's right, my freakin' back. Does that make any sense?

I've never had acne, but I did get a stray spot from time to time.

Popping them always did the trick, mainly because I didn't mind if it were a painful one to pop, and I'd squeeze until it was just blood coming out and still continue a bit.

That's how it's done.

Washing and exfoliating your face often will help prevent it anyway.

i don't use anything in particular to keep my acne in check. If i don't wash my face, then eat same really fatty food, those darn pimples emerge. If i steer away from fatty foods, and keep my face clean my face us silky smooth :bigthumbu

Lol.

It seems if you have it bad the ointmints aren't as effective.

Sometimes I pop acne then put ointment over the opening where the **** came out. . :)
JESUS! That must burn like F***
Dont Irritate the mess, just apply the ointment, if you pop it, its just going to feel worse:(
Trust me, last year, i had this zit, and it was too noticeable, so i...Nevermind, too much detail needed.
Lets just say, after that, i never wanted to put on any Cremes or Removers ever.
Mom made me do it that day, i thought my face was corroding Dx

Well my acne doesn't really show up on my face except from the occasional spot around the sideburns and if you don't wash your face its gonna be on your forehead and what not! I think it's because my skin gets irritated when i go the the barber he puts grease on my sides when he razors them. >.<

But i get bacne ( acne on my back) even black heads on their i really don't no what to do?
