9-year-old Texas boy found hanged in school bathroom

THE COLONY, Texas -- A 9-year-old boy was found hanged in the bathroom of a Dallas-area elementary school in an apparent suicide, police said Friday.

Authorities in The Colony say the fourth-grader was found by staff at Stewart's Creek Elementary School on Thursday afternoon. Lt. Darren Brockway said that the boy "had reportedly hung himself in a bathroom" and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Autopsy results are pending.

Police are investigating the circumstances but don't expect any criminal charges.

Some parents were concerned that they did not learn about the incident from the school. Lewisville Independent School District spokeswoman Karen Permetti said the facts were sketchy until about the time school let out Thursday. The school is sending a letter home with students Friday, Permetti said.

Actually, that myth is perpetuated by a Disney documentary. The filmmakers actually actively herded dozens and dozens of lemmings off of cliffs, and used the context of suicide with the editing and narration and stuff.

The problem with humans is the fact that we, as a race, can tend to be extremely destructive, both towards others and self-destructive at the same time.

Another child kills himself because of a potentially stupid reason, either bullying or otherwise.

Humans destroy each other... Aren't we supposed to continue to survive? How will we ever manage to colonize another planet and survive if we continue to manipulate, humiliate, and destroy each other?

Unbelievably stupid we are in ways; we are intelligent in other fields as well.

Oh the grief that comes from a minor cause. His family must be devastated.

I've seen you since day 1, the day you signed up and I noticed that you make a lot of witty almost troll-like posts. Considering that the documentary was made back when Walt Disney was still alive in the 50's, I don't see what it would really accomplish to tell them now.

Suicide is a big problem in japan over 30,000 suicides a year

with around 10-20 being elementary school children and several hundred being high school students.

I wouldn't be supprised if bullying had a hand in it. I can tell you from experiance, have every single flaw pointed out mockingly every single day can be hard on a kid who just wants to have fun. However, I don't know anything about this kid. Thus I cannot say what drove someone who shouldn't even know how to hang himself to suicide. I pray that he rests in peace.
