Whatever, like half of the people you see at tournys are retired

Fun tournament. I dunno about 100$ worth of fun, but still.
GG to everyone I friendlied with and was in pools with. Thanks to Atlus for teaming with me and thanks to tavo, hugq, sniper, and psycho ****** for the crews.
On a side note I cant say I approve of the loud girl that couldnt say yahyuhhz right, but whatever.

So how much did PC make?

if u want to only go for one day its 25 dollars a day.

I'd just like to point out that on page 101 of this thread Mana himself said for one day 25$

For those who were there sunday, thank you for helping by donating the 50 dollars Mana charged Nezumi to spectate

I think everyone knows the situation, and Rickety as witness, we offered 25$ and he refused to accept that saying "we can't bend the rules for anyone"....

I just want to know what she did to deserve being treated like how she was

All that aside, good job everyone

Plairnkk's Oc3 Breakdown!

Hi guys!!!!! How are you all doing? I bet really well if your name is Ken or Manacloud.

Who wants to get together and break down the Oc3 prize pot? Oh, I do, I do!!

So here we go. There were 280 entrants in Oc3. The entry fee was $75 if you registered online, $100 on the door. But hey, I'll be nice. I'm just going to assume everyone only paid $75.

280 participants x $75 = $21,000.

Okay so that's a solid $21,000 in the pot.

Now i'm going to be nice and not add in any money gained from selling Tshirts or from spectator passes or donations, even though I know they gained money that way. So let's just try to break down this $21,000.

Event Payouts:

Singles
First place: Pc Chris: $1200
Second place: M2K: $600
Third place:Chu: $300

Singles payout: $2100

Teams
First place: King+Isai: $1200 - 600 a piece
Second place: Ken+Bombsoldier: $600 - 300 a piece
Third place: SS+Tang: $300 - 150 a piece

Teams payout: $2100

Total event payout: $4200

Recap: $4200/$21,000

Venue:

So I must say, there is no way in hell that venue cost $6k for 3 days. That's a blatant lie. But hey, let's pretend it does. (Note, the *pound* 2 venue cost $900 for 2 days)

Recap: $10200/$21,000

Food:

Food for two days at *pound* 2 costed me $500, so i'll just go out on a limb and say 3 days worth of food for this tournament cost $2k.

Recap: $12,200/$21,000

Bombsoldier and Disc plane tickets:

After asking plenty of sources, an average ticket from US to Japan usually costs $1000. So lets be fair, and place the prices at $1,500 for each tickets.

Bombsoldier+Disc tickets (which we really shouldn't be paying for anyway) : $3000

Recap: $15,200/$21,000

Okay so...

I've grossly overpriced everything here, and there still seems to somehow, be $5800 missing. Hmmm, Manacloud, Ken, any input here? You guys should post some documented proof as to where the money went just so myself, the rest of the smash community, and more more importantly, those who won the prizes can see why exactly at the biggest smash tournament ever they got such poor prizes.

Lovely tournament, I'm glad I got to be a part of the staff for this :]

I'm going to do so many shoutouts after my nap it won't be funny :-P

There is one thing I can't contain any longer, though:

Ken, Mana, Jenny, Helen, Pha, Boss, San Diego, Palmdale, Norwalk, LA, SoCal, NorCal, CoK, Sleeping with Vidjo, BEast Coast, Canada, WA, OR, PC, Milktea, Chu2King, DBR, DSF-Nezumi are amazing people, especially...

I LOVE YOU PAPA DAV3!

Edit:
It might be a good idea for me to post the results, and the bracket :-P

Were some of the tournament organizers volunteers or they got a cut too? There should be payouts for human resources such as GC2 who was doing techy stuff not to mention the fab blog.

Equipment cost for things maybe? A TV or two?

Besides, why shouldn't tourney organizers be able to make profit? They risk not having entrants after the venue/BS+DiSC tickets are secured.

Look at MLG's history. It isn't a non-profit organization. Ken, Manacloud and the rest used their sweat and blood to get this thing going. They had guts. So they should also have some sort of cut.

I loved the tourney from blog's view. Can't wait for the vids.

GJ to everyone.

What do I care if Ken and the others made some money? Like 1800P said, they worked hard to put this together. It's not like they want to put all that time and effort for a tournament that they have to pay extra for.

Besides, there were so many things at the OC3 that made the entry fee seem so minuscule. Got to meet and play pros, most notably Bombsoldier and Ken. Not to mention I got a pictuire with both of them, and even got Bombsoldier to sign my controller.

$5,800 worth of "sweat and blood", "techy stuff", and "guts".
Right.

They were selling tshirts right, also, they are making a DVD for this one as well?? I think they paid the winners to little.

Those were also very generous numbers by plank. I wouldn't be surprised if total profit was 8,000+

Lucy, you got some splanin' to do!

And in case anyone didn't read my post before this, M2K got a negative amount in this tournament even after coming 2nd place at the hugest smash tournament ever. $200 - plane ticket + entrance fee + other random **** = negative.

OC wasnt MLG sponsored...

the fact that MLG sponsored FCD was pretty much the only reason one could trust the distribution of prize money.

everything about OC is very shady, and just not that appealing. first i heard it was just some random *** warehouse, the entire thing where they ask for donations for BS and Disc and then the ridiculous amount of money to play them. The heavy handed way the first day was conducted, and all these other crazy rumors and solid facts known before OC

from an OOS stand point, there's a very good reason why Pound2 and FCD had 15+ people from Florida attend, and then precisely 0 attend OC3

In this situation, I would hope that I'm not dragged into this.

Just so you all know where I stood in the tournament. The whole purpose of me being there was to promote my Web site through sponsoring the event. Mission accomplished, to say the very least, nearly 5,000 visitors came to the web site during the weekend (we average about 3,500 visitors a month, just to put it in perspective). OC3 staff did not ask me to write a blog. I wrote a blog as part of media coverage for my business, Get Your Tournament.

I was not a part of staff even though I helped coordinate most of the videos you will see either beginning tomorrow on my site, or on the DVD (whenever that is released).

And even though I was a sponsor, I too had to pay the $50 spectator fee. I thought I didn't because, you know it's like the Air Jordan corporation giving money to a basketball tournament and Michael Jordan still has to pay $15 general admission to watch the product.

Anyway, I will say that right after I was told I had to pay the spectator fee, I did send a news release regarding the amount of money I was giving to the winner. Again, I will not comment openly on the change in my sponsorship decision.

If you have any questions about my role, you can e-mail me at

getyourtournament at yahoo dot com
