I kinda feel the next Smash game, if it exists, will have Level 10 CPUs. A lot of SSBU's features and design choices had very early forms in 3DS/Wii U's DLC (Bayo's cancellable taunts and Mario Maker's gargantuan My Music list pop to mind) and Kazuya/Pythra's CPUs absolutely strike me as that.

I know he isn't the guy who runs DYKGaming, and I also have a bit of a grudge against him, but he's also the only Reddit account I can 100% confirm has direct ties to DYKG - a comment I made on the YouTube video was deleted (maybe seem as spam since I put the link in it), the Discord link wouldn't work for me (I have a pretty awkward setup where I use Discord on mobile browser, so server links don't work there - doesn't matter in other cases, I use Discord for PMs) and Reddit is the only place I can easily prove my identity.

Partially on me for not discussing it in the thread, but it's still pretty embarassing they, as professional journalists, didn't check any other frequent Waluigi discussion spaces for previous mentions of the update - and I'm a little mad I got credited for someone else's discovery, even if it meant nothing.

Honestly, I love the term "Scrimblo Bimblo" - it sounds funny and gives a good way to refer to a type of character that it's previously been nigh imposible to quickly make reference to - "cartoon style characters", "cereal box mascots", and "mascot platformers" just don't roll off the tongue and seamlessly fit into a sentence like "Scrimblo Bimblo" and to be frank it's a term I hope the rest of the gaming community adopts outside of Smash, regardless of its outright malicious origins.

Seriously, the whole "X is just a meme" thing is silly enough with Smash where the literal first "newcomer" after the starting roster was Jigglypuff and the big saved-for-last surpise in the second game was a choppily-animated generic man from primitive 80s calculator games, but now we're talking about a game with Ren & Stimpy in it.

Everyone has their own self-diagnosis for Sonic's downfall - when it happened, why it happened, what exactly decreased in quality, so on - but I think this gave me a lot better an understanding of Sonic's modern problems: Sonic makes big money in the West, but the Japanese audience just sees him as Sega's corporate mascot (like Mickey Mouse for Disney over here) - so regardless of dev interests, Sega's higher-ups don't want "good Sonic games" - they just want "Sonic games". While that is just a theory it certainly wouldn't be surprising with SoJ and SoA's history of in-fighting.

I can understand saying "That'd be marketing suicide!" to say why something won't happen, but not to say something shouldn't happen. "Marketing suicide" is exactly what we as consumers should want. Risk-taking, focus group-condemned content made out of passion for what the creators love, not to sell game copies or film tickets.

NintendoLife released these mock-ups of NSO Game Boy... and oh god, this pitifully lazy.

How such simple images can have so many flaws is beyond me. The more you look at that second image the worse it gets - varying saturation from different prints, Pokémon Yellow being placed under Game Boy instead of GBC, the HUD overlap, a two-player option that would at best be inconvenient on Switch, an online option existing at all for a console that's multiplayer almost always relied on two people being able to see one another's screens, Final Fantasy Legend using PAL box art... Not bad as a fun mockup for r/NintendoSwitch, but not what I want to see from a professional gaming news site.

Even though a billion bucks if not more says it's a coincidence, the timing of Nick Brawl being revealed right as Smash fans were getting disillusioned at the over-animefied DLC and the Scrimblo Bimblo drama was reaching a breaking point was absolutely perfect for both fans and the Nick Brawl devs. I've certainly seen a lot less Scrimblo discourse since it was announced.

I've always found the classification of Simpsons as an "adult cartoon" a little questionable.

Not because it has historically been marketed to kids, nor because Ren & Stimpy and Rocko were getting away with way worse on daytime Nickelodeon at the same time (though both are factors), but rather because the show's adult themes are usually mentioned in passing or alluded to but not shown, which is pretty much the same amount of exposure an average real world kid would have to such themes. Plus in the age of streaming and parent review sites it's a lot easier now to filter out the very few episodes that do heavily center around innapropriate or risque themes. In fact I'd argue satirical humour like The Simpsons to be important to teenage development, as it teaches us to question both authority and our peers.

CommonSenseMedia's ages 10+ rating seems on the money, though you could make an argument for a more Lisa-liberal 8+ or a more Flanders-conservative 12+ - though if you agrue anything under 7 or over 13 you're making a Klown out of yourself.
