Sometimes I'll find a YouTube video I really enjoy, check out the channel to see more, and then find out that all the other videos are about boring **** like banned movies made by Nazi cannibal cults instead of more content in the veins of the Polar Bowler video essay that drew me to it.

I love the juxtaposition between Melee's stereotype of "only 5 viable characters", and how every time I read Melee news or stats it's something like "Unknown Donkey Kong main wins second major tournament without dropping a set, Sheik has not won a small-scale local tournament in 3 years"
I'm thinking of banning the standard content ratio from DriDim. It just feels lazy to say "standard content ratio" and be done with your franchise submission, and Pizza Tower - a game famous for it's fast paced levels - recieving only 2 tracks was the last straw I feel.

I really like the exclusive coverage Did You Know Gaming has, but at the same time I wish they'd do more videos that aren't on a Nintendo game or Sonic.
I was NOT expecting Homie Rollerz on DS of all games to have a tragic real world backstory.
I got some 3P Switch controllers (I refuse to call them the stupid brand name) with roughly the same dimensions of the official ones, after using large handled controllers for almost a year, and OH MY GOD MY HANDS
The "Movies with Insane Records Iceberg" is really interesting when they talk about actual production stuff, but it becomes an absolute bore when they start talking about the marketing stunts
While I personally think character unlocks in fighting games (or any other game with non-cosmetic characters) should be a thing of the past, I do think that platform fighters specifically could still utilize unlockables by having all the content competitive players would want by default (every character, all the Battlefield/Smashvilley stages, a few more Yoshi's Story/Dream Landy stages, the primary alt costumes, the more basic items and alt modes) and then allowing players to unlock either casual or cosmetic content (the Templey and Pac-Landish stages, certain items, special mode options, a few extra alt costumes)
I went to a semi-local retro arcade place - played Ms. Pac-Man, Simpsons, Bubble Bobble, John Goodman Flintstones Pinball, original non-super Monkey Ball, and Rhythm Tengoku.
I've come up with a really fun mode for Smash Remix: Jiggly Smashketball
- Set stock to 3
- Turn off the Super Star item (and any other items you may want to turn off)
- Put both players on a team together with team attack off
- Set red team to either Polygon Jigglypuff or skeletal Kirby at level 1 (or an indle controller)
- Turn off hazards for stages (movement can stay on)
- See who gets the most KO points at the end of the match on the stats screen
Unfortunately you can't use the Smashketball stage for it (at least not as intended), but still.
Finally unlocked the monochrome Pinstripe skin in CTRNF, I don't think I'll be playing with a setup other than monochrome Pinstripe + black Nautilus for a LONG time.

Given that Smash Remix has reskinned the Skyloft and Kalos stages into more era-appropriate references, I hope they can do the same for Mementos at some point. Not sure what game into - perhaps something from Sonic given the slope element, probably a Persona 1 purple version, but my personal choice would be a Bubsy 3D stage to preserve that abstract colourful look (even if less artistic and more primitive) and PlayStation semi-connections (plus, if they want to add the Mementos walls, Bubsy 3D has a wall-removing mechanic so it fits well there.)
Everybody has talked about how Pac-Man is a richard in the ending of World 1, but frankly he's a way bigger richard in the ending of World 3.

I'm watching the Lab Rats: Elite Force video essay that's been in my recommended for a while, and I can't believe they bombed a hospital in a Disney sitcom, killing off its entire supporting cast
I really like how the DriDim Smash tracks ended up reflecting both sides of the franchise aesthetically - the stupid haha pop-culture debris "Kazuya kicking a football into Isabelle's shins" funtime side, and the edgy 2000s Hot Topic "trying to convince teenagers that the plastic NES robot is a badass" aesthetic.

While I'm usually on the side of competitive balancing and keeping old movesets intact, I actually would be all for Smash just going full-on stupid and completely non-viable with its game mechanics and design - however, I'd need to emphasize "full-on". Not just a game with minimal depth, but a game with minimal depth where all the characters can do utterly ludicrous **** on par with or worse than Steve and Kazuya.
Also, the game would still need to be fun to move around in. That's important for every platformer. -
