SMSB is probably going to have an unlockables job right before launch, but for now I like to imagine the game starts you with just Mario; Luigi; Peach; Bowser; and Yoshi with Peach's Castle; Bowser's Castle; Melee Mushroom Kingdom; Mushroom Kingdom U; and either Star Road or Mario Circuit U, and characters and stages are unlocked in random order - every 2 battles for stages and every 4 for fighters. No challenger approaching battles.

I did some calculating and it seems SMSB is currently primed to, if it continues at is current speed, have 105 stages by the end of base game. Since I want to one-up SSBU with stages I'll probably be doing a few more multistage jobs, even if not on the same scale as the competitive stage job, so it can at the very least have more than Ultimate's 114. I don't think 200 is attainable without either making the thread really repetitive or losing the sense of tension in voting though.

Takamaru, Urban Champion, and Mach Rider honestly strike me as the most boring possible first party NES reps. Like, almost to a comical extent. I dunno why they're popular (or at the very least Takamaru and Mach Rider are) and not say, Bubbles or a Short Order/Eggsplode! rep.

Yoshi Topsy Turvy, Wario: Master of Disguise, almost every post-N64/pre-Returns DK game, and Super Princess Peach share this weird vibe I can't put into words that makes it seem like they're THQ games that escaped from a surreal alternate universe where Mario is a 60s cartoon struggling to keep relevancy through edgy merchandise and live action movies.

This is easily the least likely, most niche, and most distant-to-gaming of my "Wii Fit floodgates" concepts, but a Ceefax stage in Smash would so cool - it'd easily overtake Fourside and Happy Tree as my favourite Omega form.

Kinda revising the post I just deleted, but I think a gimmick-retro Tetris stage in Smash is an easy way out such an influential series doesn't deserve. Playable Tetromino with a rocket or Kremlin stage would be much preferable.

I actually really like the Blue Bowser submission for the current SMSB job specifically because of what others might think of as a point against him: alt costumes. There are tons of shades of blue and it'd be fun to try to make an alt list entirely out of the shades and combinations that can be made with blue.

So, did Colgate stop using Dr. Rabbit because of YouTube Poops? His last animated appearance was in 2009, right as YouTube Poops hit their peak of popularity. I did find a Colgate-brand PDF book (AKA not poopable) with Doctor Rabbit that supposedly came out in 2016 (when the meme spotlight was lifted away from the character and YTP as a whole) but even then I have no clue if that's actually when it came out and not just Colgate redistributing (they have a lot of the 90s Dr. Rabbit stuff on their site)

Part of the reason I favour the Windows characters like McZee and Clippy over Rare characters in the context of Smash, a CTR guest grand prix, or other Scrimblo-adjacent Microsoft crossovers is because the Rare characters still have worlds and followings to build games with - the Windows characters only exist because of misinterpreted research and have no place in modern Microsoft products now that they're proven ineffective, and there isn't really a "Windows universe" to make a wacky spin-off out of, so crossovers in games are the only place these really cool and iconic characters could ever thrive now.
