Waluigi is simultaneously the character I love making Smash movesets for and the one I hate making Smash movesets for.

Waluigi has a plethora of source material to work with, and even ignoring that, his trickster/unpredictable persona gives him a lot of potential for mix-ups and unorthadox attacks if you wanna get creative. That said, Waluigi's core identity isn't as stable as most of the other Mario cast members', so it's hard to decide what exactly to focus on. Tennis? Sports as a whole? Kart racing? Parties? There's so much you could do with Waluigi, it's really hard to be sure where to start.

Fun fact: Dan Hibiki appeared on the Nintendo 3DS before pretty much near any major Nintendo character you can think of. (The only major exceptions are Mario, Kirby, the Pikmin, Samus, and Link due to their role as AR cards.)

I know we don't like comeback mechanics, but allow me to play devil's advocate and say that I really like how Sephiroth's winged form is handled - Rather than coming out at a static percentage, its condition varies depending on Sephiroth's lead (or lack thereof), making it more of something to even the playing field and not something you can steal games with like Rage or Terry's super specials.

I recently rediscovered an old Mario fansite I used to frequently check up on. My favorite section was always the Mario Memories pages, where visitors could share their good, bad, and weird memories with the franchise. Unfortunately, the site itself has been down for quite some time, but I managed to find backups on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

I'm probably the only guy here interested in these stories, but I thought I'd share them with you all since I find them quite fun to look back upon.

Welp, it’s official. After four years, Ultimate Custom Night is no longer my most-played Steam game. That honor has been bestowed upon Rivals of Aether.

Yesterday, I decided to do something wacky, something I’ve never done before. I made a mistake on the Internet.

In all seriousness, though, I realize that I didn’t present yesterday’s Discord debacle with all the proper context and painted it in an inaccurate light as a result. I do feel that it was important to spread the word about the risk, but it should have been done with all the necessary information. For that, I truly apologize.

So Discord made an oopsie and you can (allegedly) be IP banned for changing your PFP, permanently barring your ability to use Discord on that device and account.

Finally done with college move-in. I'm very tired.

I know I said I was gonna do a "Smash source material" tier list, but before that (if I even do it), I wanna talk a little bit about , , and ; I'd put these three in the same tier for how their designs simultaneously reflect their source material really well and really poorly.

On one hand, the movesets capture the feel of the characters well; Donkey Kong is an agile powerhouse like he is in the Country games, Ganondorf's focus on raw magical power demonstrates his strength and use of the Triforce of Power, and Wario's jankiness and absurd attacks embraces the absurdity of some of his adventures both in the Land and Ware series.

On the other hand, though, they struggle to reflect who they are in their home series on a surface level; DK's generic gorilla grunts have got to go (and take Headbutt with them, while they're at it), Ganondorf could do with a rework while retaining many of his best attributes from his current incarnation (more magic, but still a melee-focused kit), and I still think you can find a balance between Wario Land and Ware for his kit to bring in the best of both worlds.

That's why I'm on the fence about these three and would probably give them their own "it's complicated" tier. They near-perfectly represent the archetype and power of their characters, but they simultaneously feel so off that I can't give them full marks. Character feel and source material are both equally important in my eyes.

Morning, all - I don't usually do this sort of thing, but... Actually, I'm not sure how to segway into this, so I'm just gonna start.

I move back into school tomorrow, and classes begin the following Monday. As you can probably guess, this'll affect my activity on the boards - Not only in the "I'll be busy with schoolwork" way, either, since I'm planning on taking a semi-hiatus from major Internet stuff to focus on getting back into my school routines (hence why I've put All-Star Strife on hiatus). I'll still be around, but I will be busy, so I won't be nearly as active as I was over the summer.

Before that, though, I wanted to have a little heart-to-heart with you guys.

I technically joined Smashboards back in January '21, but I only really became active in December of that year, right on the cusp of winter break. Now, I don't really like venting about my personal life online, but I kinda need to bring up the fact that the spring semester of my freshman year was a pretty bad time for my mental health - Stressful classes, my family had a fairly large COVID scare (don't worry, we're all fine now!), world events, that sort of thing. It never got to a severely poor state, but yeah. Wasn't a very fun time.

The reason I bring all this up is because Smashboards genuinely made that time in my life a lot better than I would have been. Getting to meet all these great people, working on some collaborative projects, running one of my own, my constant crapposting in profile posts, all of the shenanigans I get up to - They were all great distractions from the things that were stressing me out, and allowed me to come back to them with a refreshed state of mind. In spite of everything, I passed freshman year with all the grades I needed to, and I'm not being ironic or hyperbolic in the slightest when I say I think that this silly yellow Smash fansite had a hand in making it that way.

I'm hoping this year won't compare to any of that, and that it'll be my best college experience yet. I mean, I'm entering my 20s this year! That's gotta mean something, right? Regardless of what happens, though, I'll still be around. I don't wanna say I'll still be posting about the funny miner girl game in my 80s or something, but I don't see myself leaving Smashboards any time soon. It's been a fun nine months, and I'm ready to keep the good times rolling, in spite of everything.

With that, I think it's time to wrap this up. Sophomore year is a crazy thing to think about, but I think I'll manage. It'll be a big year, but I'm ready to take this year on in the best way I can. Oh, and I'll be doing a little trolling along the way.
