  • Pokemon Clover has a Pokemon that is just Rhydon except that it isn't Rhydon and yet is better than Rhydon.

    I love this romhack.

The ORIGINAL Rhydon party sprite from the ORIGINAL Pokemon games is "not very original", huh?

No not that, I mean the green Rhydon thing.

The green Rhydon thing IS the original Rhydon party sprite. It even uses the Rhydon party sprite when you see it in your party.
Alot of people in my past have called me an "elitist" and I really don't understand why.

I'm just a guy that watches anime and plays games. Not once have I ever claimed to be anything special or do anything special.

I guess it says more about people that try to use that as an insult if someone as unimpressive as me is doing anything that makes me oh so very "elite".
Did you know that in competitive ladder Yo-Kai Watch 3 battles, there is a timer that lasts 5 minutes before going to sudden death?

Do you know why nobody that plays the game complains about that?

Because Yo-Kai Watch's metagame moves at an astronomically faster pace.

Pokemon is just way too slow paced compared to any other monster collector to merit a timer like this, so it's no surprise it causes so much issues.

Nice to see high level Pokemon fans doing what they can to make their voices heard.

I dislike being the kind of person that complains and does nothing.

Anyone can voice a complaint or criticism but words can only go so far without action.

Smash Ultimate is a game I've had all kinds of complaints about, so I bought it used and even though I own it, I play more Project M where alot of complaints with Smash Ultimate don't exist.

Pokemon has gone down the toilet, so I bought Shield used and have zero plans to pour money into the terrible DLC or Home. In the past several years, I've gotten my fix from almost any other monster collector and supported them without regret. Yo-Kai Watch especially and right now, my play time going into Disc Creatures, Nexomon Extinction and Pokemon Clover are proving them to be better games anyway.

Mario 3D All Stars I bought used for 55 bucks just to own it since it'll double in value later anyway and I am not about to support Nintendo for it even though I appreciate being able to play Mario Galaxy on the go.

I used my Nintendo Gold coins to give Sonic Forces the benefot of the doubt instead of using my actual money and after playing a good amount, I don't regret that. Using my money on Sonic Mania Plus and Freedom Planet proved to be a much smarter investment.

I guess my point is that I like to try to be smarter about what I choose to support.
I've been watching one Pokemon anime episode a day from the beginning. Got to the episode where Rhydon makes its debut.

I think it's REALLY important for an anime adaptation of a video game or card game to be as consistent as possible with its source material.

Having kids watch stuff like that that completely bends the rules is like assuring kids that the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus or The Stork is real in their young age. Eventually, they're going to learn the truth anyway and then wonder whom they can actually trust because they've been lied to so much.

Pokemon is one example but fans also ridicule the first arc of Yu-Gi-Oh anime for that same reason. At least Yu-Gi-Oh shaped up and actually followed the rules later on.
The big difference between Japanese advertising and American advertising is that the Japanese know how to make a commercial that people WANT to actually watch instead of skip.
Akihiro Hino is a game developer I respect. He doesn't call himself a workaholic over the quality games his company makes. Only his employees are the ones that call him that.
Pokemon Let's Go Eevee and Pikachu are 2 years old today.

I sure am glad I borrowed that game from a friend instead of actually buying that garbage.

At least Let's Go was better than SWSH by a mile.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
That's a very low bar, but yes. I will admit I have more positive things to say about Let's Go than I do about SWSH.
Many of the people I've talked to that have never actually played Yo-Kai Watch say the game is too easy.

Then there's this one friend of mine that actually played the game but couldn't finish it because he admitted it was too complex and hard for him. The guy plays Pokemon alot and is a shiny hunter, so he's used to easier games but at the same time, he's also a huge Persona fan and it's not as though Shin Megami Tensei games have a reputation for being easy.
I'm pretty tempted to buy Yo-Kai Watch Y-Academy for my Switch just to show my support.

From playing the free demo, the visuals are gorgeous, the gameplay is so fast paced, bosses aren't easy and the chibi style I find cute. It's alot the usual stuff that makes Yo-Kai Watch games so good.

One of my favorite things to do when playing Ultimate is say "Today I am going to play Terry!" and then pick this skin and then get a usual dumb kill of some kind and say "Enjoy your trip to Wonderland!" and then watch as nobody gets the joke or reference but me.
Why does Pokemon have to have some stupid distance-based restriction in Triples?

Other RPGs and monster collectors don't have that despite having 3v3 be the main battle system for most of them.

I imagine because it's limiting, unnecessary and those games can properly animate monsters walking up to each other when they attack anyway for part of it.

    You mocking me mate?
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
No, mate. I'm just saying the distance limitation in Triples is dumb, mate. If they kept Triples and improved it then it wouldn't be a complaint, mate.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
No, it's just with your mates. It seems like you're mocking how I speak.
You know how the Pokemon anime and games love to sell themelves as being a long arduous and life-changing journey encouraging you to make new friends on the way as you aim to improve yourself even though the actual games are nothing like that?

I absolutely adore Pokemon Clover for being exactly that.

Also here are a bunch of my favorite Pokemon of what I've seen so far.

I've never been keen on Fakemon but this game is so good that alot of these guys are really sticking with me.

Seeing fanmade ideas for how they would've handled Fighters Passes, so why not?

    Fighter Pass 1:
    1. Jack Frost (SMT)
    2. Slime (Dragon Quest)
    3. Banjo-Kazooie
    4. Terry Bogart (with female Terry alts)
    5. Waluigi
    Fighter Pass 2:
    1. Twintelle
    2. Steve
    3. Spyro
    4. Crash
    5. Heavy Weapons Guy
    6. Jibanyan
Between Shin Megami Tensei 5 and 3 on Switch and the upcoming Temtem Switch port, I'm pretty happy I'm getting so many monster collectors to play. Anitons looks promising and I hope it reaches its stretch goal for a Switch port.
I love how Pokemon fans will have no issue talking down on other monster collectors and dismiss them as ripoffs and yet the very moment you point out the fact almost everything about Pokemon from its monster designs to gameplay can easily be argued that they're ripoffs of Dragon Quest 5, they'll either clam up or get just as angry as the fans of the "ripoffs" they talk down on.

They can give it but can't take it.
    Ridley64

    Some ripoffs are ligitimately fun.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
Fun is a preferential and subjective concept but even so, yes. Robopon, as far as monster collectors go, shares a good number of similarities to Pokemon visually that it's hard to not call it a ripoff but that never seemed to stop the Japanese from loving that game and series regardless as opposed to Americans that are stereotypically so close-minded about the genre.
People that immediately lose interest over a game or series or anything over a fandom or person they don't like are weak.

You aren't required to associate with someone just because you both enjoy something. If you're going to compromise your own happiness just because of someone else you don't even know instead of growing a backbone and enjoying things for yourself, that's your own problem.

The most ironic and hypocritical thing about people that say these kinds of things is, from my experience, that plenty of them associate themselves with stereotypically awful fandoms to begin with. If you cared so much about fandom quality, start with the ones you're already in.

If you're that easy to gatekeep, maybe it's better that way anyway.

I see this kind of behavior from people in the Smash, Sonic, Pokemon and Mega Man fandom. It's not limited to any one fandom but all those ones I listed, I've always found from my own experience have a good number of unpleasant people. You don't need to be a fan of anything to be awful to be around, so why bother using that as an excuse to not try other things?
Olimar's alts would be monumentally better if they were like Bowser Jr.'s where they're practically a different character.

Instead of just Alph, include Louie, President, Charlie and Brittany. Not even sure why it's just Alph to begin with anyway as he's just the mechanic while Charlie is the captain.

    R O F L
Yes! Plus the lack of voice SFX and all of them having almost exactly the same body and head size would make them incredibly easy to implement. I have no idea why they haven't done this.
The only iffy one would be Louie, who has a much taller head than the other Pikmin captains... But he is the most unique Pikmin captain and character in contrast to Olimar, so why not a separate character? 🙃

Kinda makes me wish Olimar wasn't added until Smash 4 DLC, the series would've gotten a lot more love if that were the case.
Yo-Kai Watch games are such a wild ride no matter mobile spinoffs or main series.

The westerner equivalent of what they're doing with the current Event for one of their mobile games would be like if big YouTube personalities like Markiplier or PewDiePie got official Pokemon designs or Pokemon Trainer designs and that's pretty neat.

I love how there's a group of people that hate DistantKingdom over a perfectly harmless avatar mod because they can't prove him wrong on anything else, meanwhile that exact same group of people either said nothing about or actively defended an actual child molester and pedophile named Xenochu whom defended Pokemon SWSH by spreading lies and misinformation.

Goes to show where their priorities are.

I enjoy DistantKingdom's videos on fixing certain Pokemon's animations in battle. I don't think Sw/Sh is bad, but it's definitely rushed, and it could've been much better if developers spent more time working on the game, and released it at a later date. I still enjoyed playing it though.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
From my own experience, people that say SWSH isn't bad usually don't play anything outside if Pokemon. Having played others of its genre, I can fairly say it is an embarassingly terrible game. I enjoyed alot about it but any bad game can be enjoyed. I enjoyed Sonic 06. Not gonna pretend it's a good game tho nor do I let a game's overall quality keep me from liking what I like.

SWSH is fun, but not very good.
I don't really get how people get overwhelmed by Ultimate's roster size.

The only time I've ever felt anything close to what I assume that's like is when I play Project M Cobalt Legacy but never with Ultimate.

Maybe that's because PM is actually satisfying to play with great fanmade movesets that are actually satisfying as opposed to Ultimate playing like nothing but pure frustration with a roster that is also frustrating to play as.
I really wish Square had made the GBC Dragon Quest Monsters Terry's Wonderland available in English since the translated version already exists instead of keeping it JP exclusive on the Nintendo Switch EShop.

That's a good example of where playing games in a foreign language becomes all the harder since it's such a text-reliant game.
    Made a ****post video.

I think this is the one time I'll hear someone say "Nah, let's play Digimon".

Ok but in all seriousness I agree that they really need a visuals update.

And wasn't Creatures Inc not working on this game.

    Electivire isn't good?
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
Never was. Only reason people used it back in DPP meta was to get it to come in on Rotom or some kind of Electric attack just to make use of Motor Drive and the only reason it could get away with that was because team preview wasn't a feature yet. Its Speed tier just isn't good enough and that wouldn't be an issue if it kept the 105 base Speed Electabuzz has instead of it being knocked back down the 95 Elekid has and while it gets good coverage, it just doesn't hit hard enough on top of having bad Def.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
That thing looks like it should be bulky and yet is very frail. What.
Every time I redownload Pokemon Go to give it a chance, I keep getting reminded why I uninstalled that awful game to begin with.

I really wish I could be playing Yo-Kai Watch World right now. That game keeps getting so much amazing content.

YKW3 is monumentally better than both of them too. Can't recommend it enough.

They said Yo-Kai Watch was dead after 2 then YKW Busters happened.
They said Yo-Kai Watch was dead after Busters then YKW3 happened.
They said Yo-Kai Watch was dead after 3 then YKW4 happened.
They said Yo-Kai Watch was dead after 4 then YKW Y-Academy happened.

People really seem to love calling an ongoing series dead only when it comes to Yo-Kai Watch, it seems.

There have been plenty of articles regarding each of these games with their releases on top of having videos on the official Nintendo YouTube Channel or even having had spots in Nintendo Directs, so that's your own fault.

Your ignorance regarding its ongoing status doesn't negate my point regardless.
