The metal slug anthology collection has some performance issues but it’s probably one of my favorite game compilations simply because it gives you literally the perfect amount of credits to make the arcade mode challenging but really fun

I’m sorry most of the remix levels in NES Remix are really lame. 90% of them are just “play the game with some trippy effect”
I decided to still go ahead with my NES Remix video- this time I’ll reframe it as an analysis about the 80s video game nostalgia boom through NES Remix and the NES Classic and the like. I’ll also be talking about if I think there’s still a market for 80s game nostalgia with the new nintendo world championship game
For like two months now I was planning on making a video where I do a retrospective on NES Remix and go really in-depth into every aspect of the franchise but now that they’re making the nintendo world championship game the central conceit of “going way too in depth with a thing nobody’s talking about anymore” doesn’t exactly work as strongly

I actually like that the third party character selection in Smash can be considered a little biased. For example, with Sora in Smash you might technically be able to say there’s three Final Fantasy characters but that’s really cool to me. It gives the roster a little character while not being too out-there and it’s a series that definitely deserves that love even if a roster purely based off of balancing third party characters’ “importance” would likely have some other characters.

I made a post earlier about how the Neo Geo was what created Newgrounds and another fun fact is that the creator of Newgrounds said that Gunstar Heroes was the “game that made me want to make games” which I think we can say is pretty damn important too. The Sega crossover games are so weird in hindsight roster-wise becsuse none of them (except sega heroes I guess) feature what Sega is now calling their three main pillars. If a new Sonic & Sega Racing game were made today the roster would 100% be drastically different to anything in the franchise before.
I'm one of the biggest advocates for series being able to get multiple characters in a crossover game but even I think multiversus does it with their characters too much

Yesterday I watched a performance of the wizard of oz and after it I was waiting in the hallway for my friends and heard a kid about 5 years old singing ding dong the witch is dead. Even putting margaret thatcher jokes aside, I think it’s just really funny for a kid to gleefully sing about someone being dead.
I later found out that was the sister of the person who played the wicked witch in that performance and that makes it ten times funnier for me now
I’m kinda curious, does anyone have any more obscure examples of the video game “first sequel” being really different and controversial? I’m making a video about it and I don’t wanna just talk about the expected stuff like Castlevania II or Devil May Cry 2.

I’m kinda upset the wizard of oz movie didn’t keep the detail about emerald city being green because people are forced to wear green tinted glasses. I get that might ruin the technicolor thing but damn if that isn’t some really strong imagery
A lot of the X-Men movies were forgettable but it says a lot that they made an entire New Mutants movie and I’ve never seen a single person talking about it, I’ve at least seen people laugh about Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix or something

I have seen right wing losers complaining about assassins creed now having a black protagonist but I haven’t seen it nearly as much as stupid stellar blade stuff and I genuinely think even they don’t care about assassins creed anymore
As someone’s who’s kinda in the role of “guy who knows stuff about Canada” to some people here (a role I will gladly accept lol) I kinda feel weird having been to most major western cities but never once going to Ontario or Quebec
I wish the original NES Super Mario Bros. had more music in it. Like, I highly doubt they would have the storage for it but it would go so hard if they had a snow theme or athletic theme back then
One of the biggest effects of Neo Geo that I don’t see people really talk about (no I’m not over that random throwaway point scott the woz made probably like 5 years ago) is that it the website Newgrounds wouldn’t have existed without it. It originally was a Neo Geo fan zine which is why it’s called “Newgrounds” since neo means new and geo means earth. Literally thousands of famous creators probably wouldn’t have had their start if it weren’t for Neo Geo. -
