  • Probably not the best example, but watching this video made me think "If a fan mod could make 24 racers work with retro tracks, then maybe Mario Kart Switch 2 can, too."
I’ve actually been thinking of something; you guys remember Luke from Street Fighter? He was the last DLC character in Street Fighter V before making his proper debut in Street Fighter VI, where he was meant to debut originally.

I guess what I’m saying is, it would be novel if Ultimate got one last DLC newcomer who was backported from the next Smash game as a teaser for the next Smash game.
I just realized that there’s a non-zero chance of Universal-branded DLC in the next Mario Kart, since Universal and Nintendo are business partners.

After how much of an opportunity Nintendo missed with Tate Mode, I seriously hope the rumored mouse functionality doesn't make a similar mistake of not using for DS emulation.

If you’re playing Kid Icarus Uprising emulated on a Switch 2, it’d probably map the right joycon’s control stick to the Circle Pad Pro (much like what happens if you play any game that supports the Circle Pad Pro on a New 3DS; the little nub thing is treated as the Circle Pad Pro) so you could just play it as a standard console shooter game without needing the mouse functionality.

The bigger issue is that I don’t think the Switch 2 has a microphone? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

To be honest, we don’t really know either way if the Switch 2 has a microphone.

The Switch 1 did not, but I don’t think we’ll truly know with the Switch 2 until that direct in April.

There is a small hole on the Switch 2 which people think might be a mic.
Supid headcanon of mine: A "canon" version of the events of Shadow the Hedgehog takes place at the same time as the events of Sonic Rush. My only real basis is the fact that both games share the same initial release date: November 15th, 2005.
With how much of a darling that both Metaphor and Persona 3 Reload were for Atlus, both of them being their fastest-selling titles, I could see them getting representation in the next Smash game in some form. Maybe Metaphor will get a DLC fighter with or without a Switch 2 port? After all, the lack of a Persona 5 Switch port in 2019 didn’t stop Joker from being the first character revealed for Fighters Pass Vol. 1.
    KneeOfJustice99
    KneeOfJustice99
Perhaps controversially, I'm of the opinion that Joker might actually be one of the safer third-party picks out there, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him come back in the next game. That said, I'm guessing Metaphor would probably be limited to DLC like you say, if only because of how recently it's released - but some P3R content like music doesn't seem entirely unfeasible to me.

...I'd also not write off content from the mainlike Shin Megami Tensei series. SMTV was a pretty big hit for Atlus as well, and there was a groundswell of support for Nahobino for a while...
I just had a though; what if the next Smash game had a Gen 9 Pokémon newcomer in the base roster…but then also had a Gen 10 Pokémon as a bonus DLC character?
    KneeOfJustice99
    KneeOfJustice99
...honestly, if they were to go for two Pokémon picks like that, I think I'd personally prefer only one of them be the outright promotional pick, while the other should probably be on the older side - whether as a fan-favourite (Sceptile seems popular?), a reoccuring funky pick (like maybe Rotom?) or just something genuinely weird (idk, Probopass?)

That way, you can sort of present the bonus DLC character in the literal "a wild ??? appears!" sense depending on which way around you do it, literally presenting it as a surprise encounter, while the more popular Pokémon pick is already in the base-roster. Or something like that.
I just came up with a new idea for Battle Modes in the next Mario Kart game, though this is built around my idea of Item Boxes giving you three items at all times (a la Mario Kart Tour): an Attack, Shield, and Speed item, respectively.
    • Balloon Battle
      • Each player holds up to three balloons at a time
      • If one of your balloons gets popped, picking up an Item Box fills one of your slots with a spare balloon
      • The less balloons you have, the better times you can get. If you only have one balloon, there’s a chance to get a Special Item.
    • Coin Blast
      • A variation of Bob-omb Blast that uses Coins
      • In this mode, collecting more coins allows you to open up more slots for holding Bob-ombs to score points with
        • You start out with 0 coins, and thus can only hold one Bob-omb at a time
        • Collecting 5 coins lets you hold two Bob-ombs at a time
        • Collecting 10 coins lets you hold three Bob-ombs at a time
        • Collecting 15 coins puts you in a temporary Frenzy state where you chuck Bob-ombs to your heart’s content
        • Getting hit causes you to drop three coins
    • Shine Runners
      • Returning from Mario Kart DS, functioning how it did back then
      • Each player has a time limit above their heads, which resets whenever you pick up a Shine (which you can only hold for a few seconds). If it runs out, the player is eliminated
      • There are a limited amount of Shines on each battle map, which decreases with each player eliminated
    • Renegade Roundup
      • Players on either side can pick up a key from within an item box
      • Renegades can use keys to break out of their cage, while the Authorities can use keys to relocate their cages
Boys had their fun last year with Shadow the Hedgehog. Now it’s real men’s turn.
How to fix Nintendo Switch Online in 3 easy steps:
    1. Upgrade to more modern online server technology
    2. Make the basic online features of your games not locked behind the subscription service
    3. As far as said subscription service, combine the regular and expansion packages into a single package that costs, at most, $29.99 a year
After thinking about it, I’ve become a little more open to the next Mario Kart dabbling in more guest content…but only a little. Hence,
I've decided to do what Delzethin did and make two Mario Kart rosters: one that's focused on Mario-adjacent content, and another that dabbles into guest content. Only two things will be 100% consistent:

I've been listening to some Sentai insert songs, and man...I wish at least of the Sentai music made it into Power Rangers. The Red Puncher song from Ohranger particularly sounds like a song that would be right up Ron Wasserman's alley.
I’ve been thinking about some of the comments I’ve made those year about “what if the Jim Henson Creature Shop made Power Rangers” and now I’d like to imagine such a timeline. Maybe the franchise would feel less overtly cheap, limitations of tokusatsu aside? Maybe the Creature Shop would be able to collab with Toei to design some Super Sentai characters? Would the PR side of things still continue the practice of splicing in Sentai footage?
    KneeOfJustice99
    KneeOfJustice99
...something that occurs to me is that it'd depend on exactly what the show would end up being. If it'd still boil down to the same baseline concept of "Sentai footage for fight scenes added to additional, low-budget character scenes", I'd argue there'd actually not be too many differences aside from maybe budget in the more character-driven stuff, especially with things like "mascot" characters or whatnot. Though, I'm hardly an expert with this sort of thing.
Anyone here remember Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time? It used a special engine called Pollux that allowed the DS version to be emulated via the Wii version.
However, this engine was never used again, not even by Square Enix. Which is a shame, because I can name at least 20 DS games that would get mileage out of this engine.
You know what I just realized? The world really did end in 2012…except the Mayan calendar didn’t predict the world being ravaged by natural disasters. It predicted Disney’s buyout of LucasFilm enabling the monopoly under their grimy, money-hungry grasp.
Here’s my plans for Kingdom Hearts in 2025:
    • Get myself a new laptop that can run melonDS
    • Purchase 1.5+2.5, 2.8, and 3 on Steam once I have the money
    • Play the games in the following order:
      • Kingdom Hearts
      • Chain of Memories (primarily the 1.5 version unless Nintendo drops the GBA version on NSO)
      • Kingdom Hearts II
      • 358/2 Days (melonDS)
      • Birth by Sleep
      • Re:Coded (melonDS)
      • Dream Drop Distance
      • Kingdom Hearts 0.2
      • χ Back Cover
      • Kingdom Hearts III + Re:Mind
    • Catch up on Everglow’s KH Timeline Project
    psb123
    psb123
Watch Kingdom Hearts 4 end up being a holiday release that year =P

In all seriousness, are 358/2 Days and Re:Coded not in 1.5, 2.5, or 2.8? I thought they were but since you’re saying you’re going to use MelonDS for those…..
    Perkilator
    Perkilator
Yes and no. They're movies in the compilations rather than full games, which is sadly due to time constraints. Honestly, I kinda wish 1.5 and 2.5 respectovely released a little bit later so that Days and Re:Coded can be remade as full games in their respective compilations.
If Mario Party gets a stage in the next Smash game, how would you guys feel if the stage was Mario's Rainbow Castle, with the main gimmick being the top of the castle switching between Toad and Impostor Bowser? There could also be a handful of spaces indicated by projections of them.
I’m planning on getting a new laptop for Christmas, and then save up enough money to get the entire KH series on Steam and play the following KH games:
    • Kingdom Hearts (2002)
    • Chain of Memories (2004)
    • Kingdom Hearts II (2006)
    • 358/2 Days (2009)
    • Birth by Sleep (2010)
    • Re:Coded (2011)
    • Dream Drop Distance (2012)
    • 0.2 (2017)
    • Kingdom Hearts III (2019)
Most of the games, I’m planning on playing via the 1.5+2.5 and 2.8 games, and then I’m going to check out Everglow’s Kingdom Hearts Timeline project for that extra bit of lore. For anyone who wants to get into Kingdom Hearts, I recommend doing the same: play the games via 1.5+2.5, 2.8, and 3, and then check out Everglow’s timeline project.
