I think with how long Sakurai’s been working on his project, it would release in 2026 at the latest, regardless of whether or not it’s Smash. Plus, like I said earlier, Nintendo’s likely to at least confirm development of a new Smash anyway, like they’ve done multiple times.

Realistically, I’m thinking 4 since Ultimate was such a best-seller. Aside from Ultimate, Nintendo usually likes to at least announce that they’re making a new Smash game before showing any footage of it.

I just thought of something: Sm4sh ended with 58 fighters after DLC, and Ultimate launched with 76 fighters (including Echoes) before DLC. Therefore, I think a reasonable balance for the next game would be to launch with about 67 fighters.

I think somewhere between Sm4sh with DLC and Ultimate without DLC would be a good balance. Including Echo Fighters, Sm4sh ended with 58 characters after DLC, and Ultimate launched with 76 characters before DLC. So...maybe 67 characters could work for launch?

After thinking about it some more, I'm starting to understand your dislike of hype culture...kind of. Like, I still don't blame Sakurai or Nintendo for it. My ire is mainly directed towards the "Hype Beasts™" who insist that Smash always has to out-hype itself 24/7.
