Guy, that is really hard to read, and only cause of the points that are next to the names.

It looks like you made it out almost 2/3 of the players there, which is good.

Again, problem with Zelda being greater than 70% of the number of contestants.

But either way, Good job guy. :)
Thanks man, Yea, I know it's a pain in the a** to read. Next time I plan on making it to the main bracket so I don't have to try and decipher that nonsense .

Johns.

10NoJohns.

lol, I didn't get to make it either. I am kinda glad after all the stuff that went down at the tournament. Plus, I would've had to leave early on Sunday anyway to get back for work on Monday.

Hey Red, you still doing the tourney placements thing?

I say cause we have a tourney this Saturday. Hopefully I don't suck so hard and end up lower than what I've been getting.

If you wanna see my past tourneys, I can post them up here.

So Bandit, what do you mean by "stuff that went down at the tournament?". My curiosity is eating me up lol.

Edit: also, I am going to a tournament on the 21st of March and i'm planning on going straight Zelda/Sheik.

- Tourney started late... really late on Saturday. It took the TO 6 hours to create the doubles pools.
- Apparently there was a lot of problems as far as keeping a good pace with the tournament as well because they couldn't get people to play their matches.
- The big thing was the venue closed at midnight on saturday and 10 on sunday. At midnight on saturday, they had a hard time getting people to leave. On sunday, the tournament had a couple rounds left, about 30 people were left in the tournament. The TO asked for an extension for the venue, and he got it for the people who were still in the tourney but everyone else had to leave. People refused to leave and started to become "an unruly mob." They were chanting "money back!" and "f--- Chibo" (Chibo was the TO... which really sucks for him). The venue manager called the campus police and they came in like the "LAPD" (according to the live stream) trying to force people out. They were going around unplugging everything including the match between Ally and Chu Dat. People got even more mad, and it got uglier as people were pushed out into the streets. Chibo got escorted back to his dorm room because he had a ton of money on him (the prize money) and the campus police felt there was a threat on him from "the mob."

Eventually, Samurai Panda got the rest of the competitors together and took them to Chibo's apartment where they finished the tournament.

The thread for it was insane to follow and live stream was awesome. I actually thought Samurai Panda's "radio" commentary was the best of the whole tournament. When they got to Chibo's, they setup the live stream again, but the players preferred not to stream their matches, so Samurai just did play-by-play. He did a great job with that.

Basically, there was a lot of unnecessary drama for a bad situation that turned really ugly.

PS:
I AM STILL DOING TOURNEY PLACINGS!

I didn't have the time I thought I would have this weekend to create the post (the 3rd one on the OP). I was going to PM people for their tourney placings since I hadn't gotten much response in the thread. I know who has been going and participating on the boards, so I was going to highlight those players in the thread. I will include myself, but I will openly admit I have a ways to go before I hit higher placings. As I said earlier in here, I just got off night shift, so I get to play on an almost daily basis again, so I expect immediate improvement by my next tourney which should be in the next few weeks.

I'm looking forward to the results, and I will take any and all past results you would like to post.

Also, for the future, if you know you are going to a tournament, just let me know here or PM, and I will get the results for you and post them in the OP and make a "summary" post of the weekend's activities here.

I don't think Hawaii results are posted anywhere except in Hawaii's smash forum (which you need to be a Hawaii smash player to register for) so I'll go ahead and post our brawl results to date.

SBHM = Smash Bros Hawaii Monthly (our monthly tournament)
HSI = Hawaii Smash Invitational (once a year tourney where we invite mainland players)

SBHM 1 (4/26/2008)
DarkMusician (4th out of 29)

SBHM 2 (5/25/2008)
DarkMusician (4th out of 50)
sniperworm (9th out of 50)

SBHM 3 (6/22/2008)
???

HSI 2008 (7/27/2008)
DarkMusician (9th out of 57)
sniperworm (17th out of 57)

SBHM 4 (9/28/2008)
DarkMusician (7th out of 64)
sniperworm (17th out of 64)

SBHM 5 (10/18/2008)
DarkMusician (5th out of 35)
sniperworm (17th out of 35)

SBHM 6 (11/16/2008)
DarkMusician (4th out of 54)
sniperworm (5th out of 54)

SBHM 7 (1/25/2008)
DarkMusician (4th out of 42)
sniperworm (9th out of 42)

We actually don't have results posted for SBHM 3 so I don't know for sure how everyone placed.

I placed 2nd at SBHM 3. I don't remember your placing SniperWorm. That was the tournament that Convael won. That was also the first tourney I saw LT and AeroW...back when they actually weren't ****** yet. XD

There are vids on youtube I just never got around to doing the results. I'll try to do it asap.

I honestly don't remember my placing either (aside from the fact that I didn't do well), so it's no surprise that you don't remember how I did. Ha, we need to find a way to stop the stranglehold that GSM has on the monthlies. The last time a non-GSM member won was the HSI.

You can go ahead and say it, I'm not too good. In fact, I'm still at the "nub" level according to my crew. I'm hoping to graduate to noob soon, but we'll see (as long as I stay above "whale poo" I'm good).

Pff, SniperWorm is still better then I am. ^^

The only reason I place well is because I use Bowser. We all know that he's the best character in the game. XD

I usually go by just Dietz
Milwaukee area (Wisconsin)
If I knew of any tournaments nearby I'd give them a try
I usually play against MagicJosh, (a Game and Watch main :urg:) and some others who aren't members of the forums who play as Ike and Kirby
I usually team up with MagicJosh, but he doesn't always use Game and Watch
I usually pick the standard color, but sometimes blue
I do use Sheik sometimes, but I'm also pretty decent with Link, Gannon, and Luigi
you can put me in the casual section, but if I ever have the chance id try to move up in the world of smash.

Welcome to the boards/ Zelda section Dietz! It's always nice to meet another Zelda main. :)

Where are you from more specifically (as in, which state)? I'm over on the west coast but I'm sure someone here could hook you up with some Midwest tourney info. If you're looking to improve then there's no better way to up your smash skillz than matches/ friendlies at a tournament.

Wow... was this all Zelda???? Well done regardless though =D

Can someone mindlessly bump the thread about inescapable combos and stuff as I want to bring up Zelda's jab for discussion. It has A LOT of hitstun when all 3 hits connect, but I'd prefer to talk about it there without double posting.

Thanks! It isn't anything amazing, it's just that I've noticed Zelda's jab has an obscene amount of hitstun that I think we should closely look into.

I know the jab > dash attack is already known but it would be nice to confirm this frame wise to give her players some reassurance ^^

Villi, you're my hero. Let me know the next time you're going to a NorCal tourney so I can show up and witness the Zelda skill in person.

On a slightly different note, I went to a tourney last weekend and got beat down pretty badly. Melee singles and Brawl singles were going on at the same time and I found myself going back and forth between games. I actually did a lot better at melee than I had expected (since I was using Zelda and haven't played it in over a year) but got destroyed in Brawl. I found myself using fairs/bairs almost exclusively and I kept airdodging in an attempt to wavedash (lol). Has anyone else had this problem while going back and forth between games?

I have that problem when going back and forth between Smash 64 and Brawl. :psycho:

Update time! All this week, I will be plugging tournament results into the 3rd OP. If by the end of Thursday you don't see your name there and you would like it there (or if there is tournament information missing), then PM me with your results, and I will resolve it from there. I am also trying to include who you beat and lost to at the tournaments. This will be tough for past tournaments, but I figure we can do this for future ones. Also, I think it'll help show characters that are giving Zelda problems.

Remember, if you are a Sheik/Zelda player, you are also considered for this list. If you are straight Sheik, then you are not on this list.

I like the idea of characters you lost to at previous tourneys. I have a few old results that don't have links because they were Play N Trade tourneys but the competition was fierce. Let me know if you want me to give you the results to post on the 3rd OP. Otherwise, I have 2 tourneys lined up in March and I can't wait. Good luck to everyone else in other tourneys.

One other question, do you want results from team tourneys?

I would love to have results from teams. I think teams is the most fun in Brawl, and it is where some can really show-off. Zelda seems to be one of the best teammates in Brawl for several reasons, and it'd be nice to see where she is landing in teams as well.

Mostly, I'd like to focus on SWF tournaments, but I don't mind posting others as long as you are also going to SWF's. If you are only going to unadvertised tournaments or WiFi tournaments, then I will not be posting your results. If you only attend AiB Live tournaments, then your activity in the community will dictate if your results get posted. To stay actively listed, you must have attended a SWF tournament in the past 3 months. The only acceptable john is that you are at college and unable to get a ride or have chosen to focus on schoolwork. I completely respect this as this was the case with me.

In direct response to you Scary, you can give me all your results that you have, including the Play N Trades.

First results being posted tonight!

I will PM people tomorrow who I don't have results and bios from friday evening. I have to go back through this thread, hopefully tomorrow, to get the results that sniperworm and Riot posted. If I have any problems, I will PM those people.

The Bios can generally have anything you want. It is just a way to get to know some of the contributing members of the community.

It is alright. My tourney results are bad, and I openly admit that. Teams is where I really shine, and I have had my moments in crews, but I have had little to no success in singles. I've gotten better and my matches are now really close, but I can't seem to string wins together.

"You just need more experience." ~JCaesar - He tells me this all the time, and I believe him.

Edit: Make sure to include links if you have them to the results page.

Yeah, my biggest problem is that my crew is scattered across Cali at various colleges and the remaining smashers in my area play melee almost exclusively. In other words, NO ONE TO PRACTICE WITH!! :urg:

I'm in the same boat as you... I have friends to play but they are terrible I can usually 3 stock them with any random character.

I'm trying to make friends with some of the kids at the tournaments I go to. But I am wicked shy and get scared before I even start talking. Usually people have to start talking to me for me to be talkative/friendly...

*sigh*

Went to a tournament today and did terrible, it completely destroyed my spirit. I played friendlies after, like 20 of them with 6 or 7 different people and didn't lose one, but it didn't make me feel any better... (wait... I did lose one, but then I won right after)

I am going to another tournament next weekend for redemption... but... I might have to Hara-Kiri myself if I fail again.

I am the guy getting 3 stocked by his training partner... so I guess I'm in a better position. I am lucky to have some guys that want to play on friday nights before tournaments, and I have my best friend who is a great ROB player. Unfortunately, I don't get a wide variety of characters to face, but I at least get to work on my stuff.

Riot, I used to be like that, but I just randomly start talking to people about non-smash stuff and friends I have made aplenty. Most don't live around here, but if I am in their area, I am usually welcome to drop in.

Edit: Riot, I just posted your tourney results you submitted awhile back in one post. I am sure you have gone to more since then, so let me know if I am missing anything. Also, if you want to elaborate on those (who you beat, who you lost to, etc) and to write up a bio, then just PM that to me.

Edit2: This goes for sniperworm and DarkMusician as well. Your results have also been posted.

I need results for GreyFox86, Kataefi, Marsulas, and Villi. All of you may submit a bio and tourney results from SWF & non-SWF stuff from you guys since you do so much for the community and deserve to be there. You can post them here or PM them to me.
