In the scenario that Armada counters Hbox with Ylink to Puff. Then Hbox switches to a secondary per say Ness. Then we have Ness vs Ylink. Then Armada switches back to Peach. Then next game Armada goes back to Peach. Then next game Hbox goes back to Puff.

They can both keep countering each other. The only thing we know is this.

Hbox Puff > Armada Peach in this MU
Hbox Puff = Armada Ylink Yes its even then went to second set gfs at Apex. Its even.
Hbox Ness ? Armada Ylink
Hbox Ness ? Armada Peach.

As for the Nair discussion, Ylink really doesnt have many effective options, hope you can get the pressure with a bomb I suppose.

According to Dogy and Prog, Armada Peach > Hbox Ness.

The YL Ness MU I think is in YL's favor. Ness has a crap approach and YL is hard to approach.

I'd agree to some extent, but I don't think it's totally hopeless for Ness. The main problems are that the projectiles can't be absorbed or reflected back by the bat (as far as I know) and that Ness has limited approach options. Other than that, YL is easier to hit off the stage than other characters, so if Ness can just get in, it should be a pretty close match, it's tricky to keep up with Ness' DJC aerials, especially when shielding them doesn't always work. The Ness should be playing pretty offensive, and the YL can outspace him pretty well.
It depends on the stage too, bigger stage is better for YL, smaller stage is better for Ness.

Disagree. I saw HBox barely scrape three games (two of those were so narrow as to be akin to the one other game he's taken :p) and then lose three games straight in fairly convincing fashion (the last one was a little bit less convincing. To me it honestly looked as though Armada might have been taking the opportunity to try new things so that he'll still be beating him next time around if he stays Puff. I saw two games of Armada having him figured out, three games of HBox magically winning by the slimmest of margins, and then three games of Armada having him all figured out again.

Even if you disagree with that assessment...

--They're 10-4 in terms of games and 3-1 in terms of sets at the three tournaments where they've played this MU.
--The one set that HBox has taken was 3-2, while in the other three sets combined he's only taken a single game
--He took one game by a 1% timeout, one game by a ~20%, one game by same-stock timeout with a large percent differential, and one game by last-stock ~100%. At least two of those victories (the 1% timeout at Genesis 2 and the last-stock ~100% game, which I believe was the first game he took at Apex 2012) were very clearly owed to titanic mistakes by Armada rather than sparks of brilliance by HBox (one was the bomb exploding in his face, the other was a crazy random across-the-stage dair that Hbox just sort of got to sit in front of and grab to throw him off-stage for the gimp). He's never taken a game by more than a stock, ever, and Armada has--the games that Armada wins (which, again, there are over twice as many of), he tends to win by a greater margin.

I dunno, they may be even, but in my opinion the evidence is pretty clear that Armada's still got it on lock. I think HBox needs to have some epiphany (ePuffany?) or switch characters.

Yes, Ness can mess up YL when he gets in, but he can do the same to a number of characters that are better than him. DJC aerials are useless when bombs, arrows and boomerangs are raining down on him. I think the projectiles can be reflected with the bat but in that time YL can just pull or throw another one. I think YL also edge guards better with his projectiles and nair gimp since Ness has such a crappy recovery. YL can guard himself when recovering to a certain extent, though he's vulnerable to meteor smash when recovering up. Neither character is particularity good at killing.
I'd say 60:40 or 55:45 YL.

That being said, I've never faced an actual Ness main before, Simna would prolly **** me up.

He barely won 3-2 while being coached, and then got destroyed 0-3.

Yup. Totally even.

Don't get me wrong, he's definitely getting closer for every tournament, but they weren't even in the matchup at Apex.

Sorry, should have explained myself better. But I really do feel like it at this point.

I think that at the next national,Hbox will have found something to counter Armada's Ylink.

And I dont think it will be a Ness... lol.

Moving on to better topics!

HBox is going to go Fox.

But he'll learn that if you do that Armada will just CP Peach anyway. And he'll **** **** up.

Armada will win v HBox everytime.

Ahhh, famous last words right there. Let's be fair here, I don't think anyone foresaw HBox tapping Mango either, and even though I just basically said in my last post HBox's set win didn't count he IS still the only player to take a set off of Armada since February of last year. :p HBox has as good a chance as any other top player of taking Armada. Though IMO he's the one that needs to make the most drastic changes to make it happen.

That being said, HBox's secondaries have to be absolutely astounding to take Armada's YL, and I really don't see them beating his Peach. So. Ehhh.

I wonder how much success Armada would have had with Luigi or IC's, which he has said were the two characters that he was considering aside from YL.

Oh man, can you imagine if he CP'd HBox with JIGGLYPUFF? loooooool I've been saying for the longest time that HBox should pick up Young Link and we should just have some crazy Young Link dittos or something.

If Armada goes Ylink and Hbox goes Fox

Then Armada goes Peach

Then Hbox goes back to Jiggs.

By this back and forth jazz(logic), hbox would win 2-1 or 3-2.

Which is why we're gonna show Armada how to beat Fox as YL.

because it's possible.

Believe...

if they did go back and forth on character picks like that, hbox wouldn't guarantee win 2-1 or 3-2. It would be a matter of who won the double blind pick for the first round.

Jeff trolling Bing as well? My day is made. :troll:
His fire arrows are still good for zoning and they go further than YL's.
You can also do full-hop double bair.
But yes, the PMBR can eat a **** for what they did to his recovery.
I played a bunch of friendlies last weekend and my opponent actually said he feels bad edgeguarding toon link now.
