You mean the MK MU or...?

I figured with Meta Knight banned, wouldn't the Match-up be of a lower priority to learn and worry about? Granted, there are still MK-enabled tourneys, but how long will those go on?
Well, he's not banned where I am from. And I would still like to learn this MU better for friendlies.

Picking Bowser back up =)

**** Falcon this is the low tier I've always wanted to main and I think I can do it if I practice hard enough.

because Bowser is one of the easiest characters to trap when he's on the ledge.

This is a problem in the majority of the matchups that involve Bowser, but it's even worse when against Marth.

Bowser-Marth is fun..........on the stage. Kadaj gets so excited at every chance he gets to violate my Bowser offstage. :p

F-tilt is your friend in this MU, because you'll need all the range you can muster. Punch the prince in the face when he comes swinging in, but don't telegraph it.

Also, when grab releasing, be warned that Marth players can UpB to ruin your followup. You've got to either be flawless, or sneaky with a mixup by not giving chase, resulting in them wasting their UpB and getting punished for it. Remember, though, the Marth won't take the bait if he's on to you.

FSmash is also a valuable mixup in this MU, because it can punish Marth even when he spaces perfectly, if you use it right.

Does a normal F-Tilt work against his F-Air or do I HAVE to angle it upwards? It's still hard for me to angle it. ):

The normal f-tilt can work, but you should still practice the angled Fair, because it is a better answer to aerial assaults.

With the grab releases, a trick I learned from Zigsta is that if you know he's going to upb immediately, you can PS it and get a free uair on him.

If he's upbd you out if GR before or if you simply know he's going to do it, a good idea is to just throw him, then save the uair punish for KOing.

Agreed on both counts.

Uair would definitely work if you PS the UpB, and I'm surprised I never tried it before. Normally, I go for a USmash/FSmash/Utilt punish depending on his percent/our positioning on the stage, but Uair's even better (for a kill) if you pull off the PS. Very nice trick.

And yes, there is always the throw. Just because we've got GRs, doesn't mean a throw isn't a good idea once in a while. Dthrow for damage, Bthrow/Fthrow for knockback/getting him offstage.

If you try to smash him, he can move away in his freefall state out of range or into sourspot range. Uair is good because it KOs and you can land it before he can move away.

The only reason why you should throw him isn't for a random mix up or anything like that, it's because you want to save your upb punish for a uair KO. If you punish his upb earlier he might not do it again, and if you don't punish it you're just copping unnecessary upbs when you could just throw them for damage.

1. Well, I usually time it so that he's already about to land (or he just lands) by the time my smash comes out, meaning that he can't really freefall out of the way. It's easier to do on platform-light/platformless stages like Smashville and FD, that's for sure.

Regardless of that, I already agree that Uair is the best punish if you get the PS, especially if it's for the kill. The only other logical alternative is FSmash, if you want more damage and you/your opponent's positioning is favorable to it.

2. Oh no, I didn't mean that the throw should be used as a mixup at all. I think you should do it for the same reason you said. You don't want to miss out on a chance for damage, if the Marth knows you're going to bait his UpB again.

Heya fellas, my rehab's gone great, and my arms haven't felt this amazing in a really long time. :)

I'm still strengthening my arms, but I can actually type and play video games without hurting. I'm still taking it slow just in case, but my next tournament back at the latest will be E4U Champion in June.

I'm gonna be stopping by here every few days until I feel comfortable typing extra after work on a regular schedule, but in the meantime, I'm here if you guys need anything.

come back from getting an education

the main reason why I've barely gone to tournaments was because I was/am attending a prep boarding school in CT, but since I'm graduating in 3 weeks and am attending Syracuse U in the fall, I can actually play a lot more (if I choose to do it).

Limit please don't raegquit.

I've been getting the idea that fighting Falcos with Bowser is a fun MU thanks to your videos.

Flayl's a Portugalian and even he knows what rage quiting means.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and welcome back, Zig! :D It's been boring not being able to blame you for Aladdin not being released on DVD/BluRay.

Due to the nature of how the game works, you tend to do lots of standing around. So half the time one game I was doing nothing but dieing from people zipping by on their speeder bikes. The rest of the time myself and any buildings I had just spent the last couple minutes gathering resources for are annihilated in moments by the very overpowered tanks.

On the very rare occasion you end up in infantry v infantry combat... let me put it this way: the starter "assault rifle" is seemly less useful than the Halo 2 POS SMG. It's really bad, you can shoot a whole clip into someone and not kill them. So, you usually end up spamming nades and/or rockets if you actually want to kill anyone on foot.

Oh, and enemies can plop down gun turrets in your deployment area because, balance? Pfft, what's that?

What else... You reach the building limit really fast either because of bad players building random useless stuff or because people build multiples of buildings you don't need more than one of, but since it's difficult tell what's been built unless you actually see it, it happens.

And anybody on your team can recycle any of your team's buildings, which is better than the alternative, but that just lets noobs destroy your tank spawner for a wall in the middle of nowhere.

I like the way this reviewer summed it up:

Starhawk is definitely a game that was made; I just don’t know if it was a game that was designed. Its scope seems at odds with its mechanics. There’s nothing inherently broken about Starhawk, it’s just painfully straightforward, as if the question of “why” was never asked. And it’s one I continued to ponder as I played the game and don’t think I ever really came up with a satisfying answer.
