Zeonstar, the Ganondorf main with steely determination, wins the championship! Congrats to him and everyone who participated! This was a lot of fun despite various road blocks and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves! I will be posting my next tournament within the hour so be sure to check it out! Well folks, people like myself have been begging and pleading for Super Mario RPG to be re-released in some form for years and now it's finally out on the virtual console. This game is awesome and is my favorite game of all time. To celebrate this momentous event, I've decided to host a tournament. Because I want to share the awesomeness of this game with others, I've decided to make the grand prize SMRPG itself. Yes, I'm willing to buy the game for the winner simply because I love the game that much (and I'm a complete cheapskate so that's saying a lot).
The Rules
Legal characters
The legal characters in this tournament will be split into two categories:
Category A) Nintendo franchises that are referenced in SMRPG:
1. Mario (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi, and Wario.)
2. Donkey Kong (DK and Diddy Kong)
3. The Legend of Zelda (Link, Zelda, Shiek, Ganondorf, and Toon Link)
4. Metroid (Samus and ZSS)
5. Star Fox (Fox, Falco, and Wolf)
6. F-Zero (Captain Falcon)
Total: 19 characters
Category B) Nintendo RPG franchises:
1. Pokemon (Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario, and Jigglypuff)
2. Fire Emblem (Marth and Ike)
3. Mother (Ness and Lucas)
total: 8 characters
Grand total: 27 legal characters (technically 29)
Please don't whine about the character selection. Yes, I do realise that Snake and Metaknight are not on there but neither fit in either category and I'm not going to stretch things just so that they're included.

To make things interesting, the legal stages will resemble places that are in SMRPG. Don't worry, Battlefield and Final Destination will both be legal.

Stages marked with an * are only legal if both player's agree on the stage. Play at your own risk.
General Rules
1. 3 stock, no items, (Mario, Geno, and Peach only, Final Destination) and no time limit.
2. Like in SMRPG, no more than 3 characters can be used through out the tournament so choose wisely. I will keep track of who you use but it's your responsibility to remember as well.
3. You can only switch your character upon losing.
4. First stage is agreed on by both players. Loser picks the next stage.
5. Quitting, restarting the match, stalling for longer than 10 seconds (like with Mario's cape stalling or Jigglypuff's rising pound), and purposely SDing will lead to disqualification.
6. Chain grabs, spamming, suicides (like Ganondorf's) and locks are allowed.
7. No pissing.
8. No moaning.
9. A combination of 7 and 8 will not be tolerated either.
10. After a set (best 2 out of 3 until the Finals which will be 3 out of 5), either player should report the results here.
I haven't decided yet but the chat used for the tournament will either be on Xat or the Friend Finder here so set up a profile/account on either after I decide.

These are the tournament round deadlines. (Times posted are when the rounds end, not begin.)
Round One (64)- Saturday 13th, 4PM Central Time.
Round Two (32)- Saturday 13th, 8PM Central Time. (An hour extension because I'm so ****ing nice.
)Round Three (16)- Saturday 13th, 11PM Central Time.
Round Four (8)- Sunday 14th, 4PM Central.
Semi Finals (4)- Sunday 14th, 7PM Central Time.
Finals (2)- Sunday 14th, Midnight Central Time.
I think these times are pretty fair since I have 1. PM'd everyone about this tournament and 2. have said practically since the beginning that this tournament would not last more than two days. Please do your best to finish your matches before the deadlines. Not showing up at all is like saying "**** you" to me and the other combatants so PM me if an issue arises and I, with my infinite benevolence, will try to come up with a reasonably solution.

I have decided to create a "first come, first served" concerning the first round. If you contact me in advance about not being able to make the first round, you will be allowed to advance to the second UNLESS your opponent has responded as well. In this case, you are both required to fight in the first round. For example, cheapjosh has contacted me while no one has a clue where derv is. At this point in time, cheapjosh will be allowed to go to the second round. I'm doing this to reward those who were courteous enough to show up but their opponents didn't. Keep in mind that this is only good for the first round and that I won't be as leniate for the ones that follow.

I have decided to host the tournament on Saturday, September 14th. I would like to know which day would be more convienent for most people. However, if we do end up getting 64 people, the tournament will be held on Sunday, September 15th as well.

The tournament will be held on this site's friend finder. You can easily find it by going to the Online Discussion board. With this being, please have your FC entered in your profile so that things go smoothly later this week. When your FC is in your profile, the Friend Finder automatically detects it and brings it up when you challenge someone so that you don't have to write it down and have to recall it every set.
The Sign up Deadline for this tournament will be Wendesday September 10th while the tournament will be Saturday, September 14th (and Sunday, September 15th if we get 64 people). People from other forums are more than welcome to join so you can spread this to other places if you want to. Still, I'm extremelly happy that this day has finally come and that a new generation can enjoy the game I fell in love with 12 years ago. I hope this tournament catches the eye of a decent number of people and that everyone who participates has a lot of fun.
I'm currently debating Mr. Game and Watch but I've come to a definate no for Olimar, ROB, Pit, Sonic, Snake, Kirby, Metaknight, King Dedede, and the Ice Climbers.
