Another Wii U game announced.

Avengers Battle for Earth

What’s this? An actual new, Wii U game announcement? Yes, it’s true!

Ubisoft Quebec is readying “Avengers: Battle for the Earth” for Wii U and Kinect. A domain name for the title was discovered just a few days ago.

Characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk, and Thor will be included. Over 20 characters are being added to the game’s roster.

Avengers: Battle for Earth won’t be related to the recent movie. It’s actually based on the “Secret Invasion” comic series.

Tony Key, Ubisoft’s vice president of sales and marketing, said:

“The idea that we’re making a motion-control version of ‘The Avengers’ is a unique proposition if you compare that to superhero games of the past. This is the perfect type of game for that because these characters are very action oriented. They’re always fighting and throwing things.”

Ubisoft hasn’t provided a release date, but it’s expected to ship after the Wii U arrives.

Ubisoft shovel-ware make me go "lol"

It's even lulzer when it's based on the mediocre "Secret Invasion" event.

Ahhh thanks yani!
I am so smart.

Haven't played it too much because I have been sick and my brother hasn't been up to doing co-op yet, but I enjoy it. Just beat the ice-fruit (dafuq?) world, consistently getting pretty much all of the pink-lum things except for the last one that requires like 300 golden lums. It never fails.

That CARS game doesn't look impressive to me. I also saw the announcement for the Avengers on Wii U. I don't think a good Marvel game has come out since...Shattered Dimensions so I don't have much hope.

What kind of graphics do you expect out of a game? @_@ Go play real life if that isn't good enough. XD

I personally think Forza and GT look better, but I'm gonna gave CARS the benefit of the doubt for two reasons...

1. Not released yet.
2. Wii U is in the early stage of its growth...graphics will become better once developers get used to the kits. It's like that with every console.

All right, so the best F-Zero game ever will be released for Wii U! :D

Why will it be a success? Because let's speculate:

-We will be able to share our records and replays online with the possibility of anyone racing our ghosts;
-There's gonna be online multiplayer, playing with our friends will be cool!
-A possible multiplayer for STORY-MODE, either online, split screen OR one player using the TV and another one using the Wii U controller;
-Online tourneys, compete for rare spacecraft parts!

Yes, yes. The online feature will improve a lot our experience, also:

-Beautiful graphics. F-Zero has a very gorgeous art-style, imagine all those track themes rendered by the Wii-U engine?

Anyway, I can see myself in the near future playing this game a lot should it come to the Wii U. Playing countless times in the same track to get a perfect time. Getting the best positions in every tournament, unlocking all parts and etc etc.

Do it Nintendo! :@
I love to see F-zero support. I agree with all the points you mentioned, and if the game is done well then F-zero has a ton of potential at being a pretty amazing game. My one hope though, is that they don't add motion controls like the Wii wheel or something. Or at least let you use the tablet or normal controls. I also don't want them to add the Wii wheel or motion controls because F-zero is so fast, (take F-zero GX for example) that I don't think motion controls is a good fit at all for the series. Also, if they actually did add motion controls, they might slow the speed of the machines a bit so it will be easier to control. I want F-zero to stick to it's roots and just add all the good stuff like more Tracks, grand prix, a good story, Epic Captain falcon stuff, High speed races, 30 player online, beautiful graphics, and AWESOME music.

Hearing Miyamoto mention and suggest F-zero on the Wii U as a good fit and a game being made, makes me so happy after hearing nothing about the series for almost a decade.

Not yet, haven't played it since I've beaten the ice-fruit world place, and so far it has been pretty ee-zee. I'm guessing it will increase in difficulty soon though.

I agree completely, the speed is way too high and that's how it needs to be. The analog precision will be perfect IMO. I would love to get new tracks as well, extra 3 or 4 cups! Why not? It's not like the console won't be able to handle it, so they should put in as much content as they could.

Oh and:

...Epic Captain falcon stuff, High speed races, 30 player online, beautiful graphics...
:awesome: <- My face every time after I hear that. I hope Nintendo doesn't screw its online integrity this time.

Yea, 30 player online would be amazing. Lot of Nintendo games has so much potential for an amazing online experience. I also hope that 30 player online will be added. There is no reason it shouldn't.

Nope. They confirmed otherwise a while ago:

Wii U can support more than one tablet

And the controllers won't be sold seperately

And abot the heaviness and size, I left this on this very thread a while back:

http://wii.ign.com/articles/121/1216452p1.html

Info like this should be put on the front page if they haven't been up already.
my only question is how will this effect 3rd party companies like Madcatz and Nyko? will they be allowed to make thier own controllers?

One thing I would improve upon in a new F-Zero game is the difficulty. I don't think that a future F-Zero should be as hard as GX. I mean, yeah, F-Zero games should stay challenging, but I think that GX went a little too far with the difficulty

I don't think it was too hard. Sure, it's really hard to 100% but I like it that way and as long as it's humanly posssible, I'm ok with it lol.

Who cares about 3rd parties, I hate 3rd parties who release their own version of things like controllers and memory cards. Just stick with 1st party, 3rd party is only needed for making games.

Buying twice as many third party controllers to replace the ones that more quickly go defective in the long run is less cost effective than just buying first party.

it's nice to have a more affordable alternative though. even if much of the time the quality is really bad.
3rd party stuff was just SO awful on Gamecube. Memory cards and controllers were horrible lol.I still Have a bunch of corrupted 3rd party memory cards in my house.

Due to that stuff I never go for 3rd party type versions of things like controllers.

The only 3rd party accessories that wouldn't break after 2 months were for N64 IMO. But besides that, 3rd party items for any other console sucks pretty hard.

So close to E3. I want to be surprised entirely! Like, Nintendo announcing something nobody expected and is totally cool. Nintendo's E3 presentation always have been the best to watch IMO.

I really love E3, and mostly it's because of stuff like that. New game and console announcements are cool but the real reason I watch them all every year is I love seeing some/all of these big companies completely embarrass themselves. Sony 06, Nintendo 08, Konami '10 are all classic trainwrecks that are still fun to watch.

They have a plan. They want to hype us up for it before they announce the price, and our enthusiasm determines how much they'll charge. So, if you want it to be cheap, hopefully nobody applauds it at E3.

I don't think they are gonna keep the price of the Wii U high. I know it has new technology and is a new generation console. But by judging what Nintendo stated before, the price might be cheap. They said they want a price that sells which they can can keep selling for a very long time without dropping the const.

Well, if they wanna keep the launch price tag for years and years then I think it might be affordable (lol at least they are not going the same way of PS3 on its launch). Let's think of $300 or $350, yes it's cheaper than the release price of a PS3 or XBOX 360 even though it's way better than them. It will only be (possibly) 50 bucks more expensive than a Wii on its release date because of the controller, we don't know how costly it might be.

At any rate, I just hope it's low. :p

☯ $350 sounds right, but $400 at worst if they add something new to Wii-U. As long as they didn't add a bluray player, it shouldn't be expensive.

Not sure if Nintendo lost money on the Gamecube, but when they lowered the 3DS price, they took some hurt financially (read their quarter report) due to losing money per 3DS sold.

If they plan on losing money per Wii U sold, then I anticipate the price to be around 300-350. It might be another long year of them losing money again before things pick up.

If I were them, I'd just troll people by pricing it at 400, letting all the fanboys buy it, and then reducing the price to 350 3-4 months later.

It is interesting. I just have 2 things to say:

For the 2nd point, I pretty much like playing Mario platformers but I'm noticing a very strong kiddiness about them. I don't want them to be mature but a lot of things about them come off as silly in a way tat would mostly entertain kids. Some of the sounds, a lot of the scenery, some of the music (which have a pre-k vibe), the way characters act at times--its like they're confused children in a daze in some parts. Its like not only have the skeptics taken one glance at the atmosphere and wrote it off as a game only for kids, so have the developers. If you compare the general mood of many Mario games to other platformers like all 4 DKCs and even Jungle Beat, most Ratchet and Clanks, Rayman 2, 3 and Origins, and both LBP1 as well as 2, you may notice a mostly-for-kids tone in the Mario games. Even Galaxy 2 seemed more kiddy compared to the 1st, BUT it is a better game, and not because of the lighter tone. There's a difference between a cartoony game and a family game. There's a difference between a family game and a kid's game. Bright atmosphere doesn't mean that a game is either of the three.

For point 6, where they talk about all the games that hardcore Nintendo gamers want and how it won't happen because it won't sell well, they seem to have left out Donkey Kong Country Returns for some reason. It sold very well--over 5 million copies in less than a year, but that game is nowhere to be found in tha paragraph. They could've atleast acknowledged it and then said "But that's just one game" yet they didn't. :/

A leaked redesigned Wii U controller
It's a hell of a lot better than using motion or 3rd party controllers.
Yeah but then again, it's eleven years old.

*sigh*

The controller was awesome but unfortunately, non-nintendo gamers could not really take the controller seriously (And the console).

I guess you can state the same thing for the Wii.
The Classic Controller isn't bad at all, it is just as good as the Gamecube controller. I used to think it was **** until I had to buy the family black Wii to replace my old white Wii, and come to find out it doesn't have gamecube controller slots, I had to use the CC. In just a few days I was Brawling like I always was.
CC isn't really that bad. To be honest, I didn't find myself having any problems. It's just like the typical normal controller without an L3 or R3.
It is interesting that no one complains about Sony or MS using the same old controller.
That's what I thought. Inevitably, Sony and Microsoft will have to change their controllers soon. That or they'll have to stop developing new consoles and stick with the PS3/XBOX 360 for several years since there's gonna be nothing new to add anyway (Online is done, Graphics is done, what's next?)
We'll I'll be damned.

Now all we have to worry about is the controller being twice as large and heavy as it would be without a screen (aka the Classic controller), it being wireless, and the mediocre button layout, with no alternate viable control schemes!

So we have a supersized, upside-down classic controller with a bit of extra weight. CC isn't beautiful to begin with, either. Extra size would actually be nice for the tiny-*** CC, just not as much at the WiiU controller makes it.

May I add it's still wireless with NO wired options?
The mapping is mediocre but the Wii U controller is light. I got nothing against the weight. The only thing I want for the Wii U controller is to put the left control stick below the d-pad and the right below the ABXY buttons.
