It's only males that seem to hate Bieber, and it's probably because some girl they crush'd on, crushes on Bieber in return.

Me? I don't get the hype about him but I still think he's good. At first I thought he was a gimmick, having Ludacris featured in a song with a little boy but if it's srsbsnss then that's what it is.

And as for the argument of singing love songs, yet not knowing what love is, that's not what I think music is about. It's not about forcing your stories upon people, it's all about relating, you sing about feelings that other people can relate to, to help when they're down or whatever.

Good blog, OP. You have a lot of guts to go out and say this to the internet hate machine. Much respect for you.

I'm classically trained in piano, since I was six years old. And after nearly ten years of analyzing, performing, and just listening to classical music, I'd have to say there are only two artists I really like: Chopin and Rachmaninoff.

Classical music is a acquired taste. If I didn't grow up with it, I'd never know anything about it. Although I've experienced some of the most droning and boring music in classical (BACH BACH BACH (I'm not a big fan of Barouqe's blandless in dynamics)) songs, but once we hit the romantic era, I hit interest.

Why do I hate Justin Bieber?

Cause he sucks. So the kid can play the guitar and sing? Who cares? So can millions of other people. The thing is he is a somewhat attractive kid, who isn't bad at what he does, and is extremely marketable. He sucks for the same reason that Hannah Montanna, Hillary Duff, The Jonas Brothers, every American Idol, High School Musical, and Twilight all suck. They are just marketing schemes thought up by clever people who decided it would be a good idea to cater to the 11-15 year old audience, who are highly hormonal, and won't think twice about the product, but rather just eat it up because its the popular thing to do.

So why do I hate Justin Bieber? Because people only like him in the first place cause he's this weeks fad.

Don't even get me started on Kesha and Gaga...

Well what about "I've Got A Woman"?

If you think the music industry hasn't changed, look at hip-hop. They used to look for talent. Now, they look for what sounds like everything else.
That's what they've ALWAYS done. They look for talent to start. When one find talent or a gimmick, the rest and the label itself tries to find acts that similar because that's what's popular. Did you read the rest of what I said?

In the 90's how many Boyz II Men, BBD, ABC, Immature, Blackstreet, JoDeCi, Tony Toni Tone', After 7, Mint Condition, and other acts that just fell through the cracks can you have? The longest lasting out of those was Boyz II Men. JoDeCi broke up, then came back out a while later as just KC and JoJo. Teddy Riley just stuck to producing. That was his SECOND group that was quite similar to his first. (Wrex n' Effex). Tony Toni Tone' broke up and Raphael Saddiq went solo and also did Lucy Pearl with Dawn from En Vogue.

I won't even get started on the female clones. too many for me to even remember. I'm not saying that the music is as good, because as a whole, it isn't. What I'm saying is that the musiv industry has not changed. You know how people always complained about how "our" music all sounds the same? Well "their" parents and previous generation said the same thing. And then again before that.

I've had plenty of people tell me how their parents felt about their music from all different generations. What we even thought was good music from old. (Motown, etc.) wasn't really considered to be "good" at all by the generation before that. Biggest example of a no talent hack that still has success and is from the 90s...Brittney Spears. The girl can't sing, but she's had success. Tell me how she had staying power, but she has no talent. Even the so-called "trash" that we have today has more talent than her. (What people refer to as trash: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, etc.) Atleast some of THEM can sing....it's kinda sad, really.

Just so you're aware....I'm not defending the modern music, but making people realize that the music industry as a whole has not changed. Their tactics and so forth have been the same for the longest time. I think more effort can be put forth, myself. However....now that people can get a glimpse into artists lives and everyone wants to be a critic/analyst, it's different all together. Scrutiny is what kills the talented artists, nowadays.

I don't like Justin Bieber as a musician because I find his music uninteresting and I don't enjoy listening to it. I figure that he became popular because a big music industry record label manager saw him on youtube and figured that all the little girls at his daughters school would enjoy it.
I will admit that Bieber has some talent, but there are millions of people that can play guitar better and sing better than him, and yet they aren't super popular outside of a small fanbase. The only reason that Bieber is popular is because girls find him "hot" or "cute" and think his voice is femme and sexy.
Take this song as my example. I find this song enjoyable and empowering and rather fun to listen to. Jerry Chang (or JerryC) is extremely talented, taught himself how to play guitar, arranged the guitar for this song by himself, and is huge on youtube, his site, and google video. However, he doesn't have any albums or a ton of money or anything. I hate on Bieber because it seems to me that it's people like him, who are only popular for image, that keep people that are truly talented from getting the recognition they deserve.
Also, consider The Protomen. They are an indie band that has remained fairly underground, mainly for the fact that their songs are based off the plot of Megaman. But the music has an extremely powerful message besides that. The entirety of their music has a plot about conspiracy, rule by fear, usurping power, fooling the populous, and many other real problems in the planet, and they have a following that shares their ideals and things of the sort. I think that this is what music is about.
I think that music is about conveying a message or feeling that the artist feels strongly about, but doing so in a way that people can understand. I'm dumbing this down considerably, but that's only because I can't really get across what I want to say any other way.
I don't think that Bieber has good music because it doesn't convey a message I can relate to in any way, it's just noise to me.

TL;DR
I don't like Bieber because I don't find him particularly talented as compared to other artists, and his music doesn't convey very powerful feelings or have a strong message like, say, JerryC or the Protomen.

First off, that's not fair. Canon Rock's incredible! I love that song. And I guess I can see what you're saying. But the kid, contrary to what so many people think, has talent. Unfortunately, he's signed by Usher, and he's being exploited.

All I'm saying is that give the kid a break. He's probably a good guy. It's not fair for people to hate him just for his commercial success. He's famous because of his fans. Nobody else can make somebody famous besides the fans.

And people are too quick to judge. I like his songs, but they're not my favorite of all time. I just enjoy listening to them. Peter, Bjorn and John are an indie band, that just happened to get famous. I loved them before the movie 21.

hating on bieber is a meme
/thread

Seriously, all this talk about how he has less talent, is just for 13-year-old girls to crush on, whatever, is just silly. Half the music industry today sounds like everyone else to me, half the music industry doesn't have any more talent than any normal person in my eyes (or ears, I suppose you could say), which tends to dictate which music I listen to and which music I don't listen to. In fact, I'd almost go as far to say that the only music I hate listening to is music that doesn't stand out at all. But if someone doesn't stand out to me, I don't go "OH WOW I HATE THIS PERSON" all over the place, I simply skip over their music and move on to something else.

Going from my experiences, I'd say most of the world tends not to hate on someone excessively just because they don't appear to have much talent.

Justin Bieber has become a meme to hate. TheOriginalSmasher is right -- he's up there with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears, with everyone making jokes like "OHOH YOU JUST DROPPED THAT LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS DROPS HER BABY HERP DERP".

4chan has targeted him with hate/rumors/etc., that's proof enough that hating him has become a meme. And that really is why most people tend to make fun of him so much, because he's certainly not the least talented pop artist out there. Disliking him is one thing, the public hate is mostly because he's a meme.

Link to original post: [drupal=3515] Okay, so he sings in a high pitch. But I'm fifteen, and my voice is probably a little deeper than his. The highest note I can hit in my head saftely is a mid F. His is probably a bit higher. He either projects the crap out of that high C in baby, or uses his head voice to reach it (and yea, using my head voice, I can reach a high C).
For some reason you just lost all credibility to me.

This thread seems to have dissolved into a clash of opinions.... -_-' I personally believe that hate is way too strong of an emotion to feel towards someone that you'll never meet, who hasn't done anything specifically wrong to you, and who doesn't even know that you exist. I can understand dislike but hate is a bit over the top.

@ Gorditoboy69:

Just to be as hypocritical as I can possibly be: YOU DON'T LIKE BACH?! Is it even humanely possible to not like Air on a G String?! *goes in the corner and nerd rages*

In your head voice, you can probably reach a high C. Almost anybody can, even basses. And I'm a high baritone-mid alto. There's nothing I can do about it. And a mid F isn't even really that high, compared to most guys my age that I know.

EDIT:

@Fatman

I don't dislike Bach, and I guess I worded it wrong. I respect him for making the foundation for classical music, but I know him more for his inventions -.- and preludes (-__-). After having to go through every invention of his, I got tired of Baroque. It's flatlined, dynamic wise. And it's a steady tempo. Almost no tempo changes. It's just not for me.

I don't really see it as him being exploited.
He seems to really enjoy being loved by little girls because of the way he sings.

Also, I love Canon Rock.
It's my 3rd favorite song.
And Peter, Bjorn and John only have the one ultra popular song... everything else by them is pretty unknown.

It doesn't matter that he likes it. It would've happened anyway. He just does like being exploited. The industry is manipulating him to get money, he's just not fighting it. Plus, if he wanted to, he really can't. He's under contract. If he fights it, he gets sued.

Anybody that don't know what Germany is shall perish!

lol. But seriously, he does look like a douche, and there are so many talented people on youtube. I'm sure one of them has a better voice then he does. Plus, I hate his arrogance and stupidity. (jealous about how all the girls love him much?)

Opinions are opinions are opinions. Just because you don't like his music doesn't mean it's fine for you to attack him personally. I think his music is mediocre, but you're taking it too far and making yourself look like a douche. Do you know him?

The argument about there being someone more talented out there....it applies to everything. There are people that swear there were people out there better than Michael Jordan, that would have shined and were more hungry, etc. If it were true, it doesn't matter...Michael got the attention. I know for a fact there are people more talented than Bieber out there. However, he caught the eye/ear of other artists and got put on.

Being in the right place at the right time. It's why some people get promotions and others don't. I got one at my job based solely on the fact that I don't call off and I'm a nice person. There are people at my job I KNOW are more qualified to do what I'm doing. However, I was literally in the right place at the right time. Sometimes it's not about the total talent...sadly. (Granted, I'm honest and always do my work....I just know that other people could have used the job, lol)

Brittney vs. Christina- We all know Brittney sold more. However, we all know Christina was a much more talented singer and (IMO) a lot less annoying. Brittney was considered the better pop star because of the sales. She had more "success" to a degree, but not because of talent alone. Even when they were on the Mickey Mouse club (Brittney COULD sing back then...don't know what happened) Christina had the better voice.

Now...here's something interesting. That kid that did the Lady Gaga song. (wound up on the Ellen Degeneres show) As a singer...he's sub-par. At a younger age I had a more steady and developed voice with no kind of training. Yeah...he can play the piano, but that won't get you anywhere if you plan on singing and playing. (I could dance...so two talents as well) People started comparing him to Bieber. Funny thing was...Bieber is more talented. Now if that kid gets a career....it won't be because of his talent alone. I can assure you that. There are plenty of kids out there with a better voice. If his music is good...well then he has something going for him. One won't know until we hear HIS music. Because his Gaga remake was NOT impressive.

People...are just in the right place at the right time. That also denotes as to who gets known. A lot of talent gets lost, it's sad, but being fortunate is what happens to people. Like getting a good bracket in a tournament off random seeding, lol.
