Wow not a single perfect circle or tool fan???

All of you gotta at least check out these songs if you dont know about them or arent sure.

A perfect circle - 3 libras, orestes, the hollow, rose

Tool - LATERALUS, aenima, schism

*** you guys like some soft **** though.

Anyways old Metallica *****..anything from ride the lightning to the black album is good. FADE TO BLACK though for sure.

Santana - EUROPA, moon flower, samba pa ti

Pantera - floods, cemetary gates

Buckethead - NOTTINGHAM LACE, SOOTHSAYER,big sur moon

Dream theater - under a glass moon

Eric johnson - CLIFFS OF DOVER, manhattan...him and santana are tone fuking masterminds.

Jimi hendrix - All along the watchtower, vodoo child

Andy mckee is good too, check out this song called drifting. alot of his songs are good though so check any of them out really. All acoustic melodic kind of folkish i guess, lol i really dont know what genre it is but i think its good as ***.

I could write forever but i cant think of more off the top of my head.....and i dont think mike likes much rap so i wont name those.....lol but he does like the kottonmouth kings though so i dont know LMAO.

oh **** how the **** could i forget...

SEAL - KISS FROM A ROSE

Good thread

Rap:
Aesop Rock -- Really mature and intelligent, and good music. Guys like Nas and Immortal technique don't compete. Recent for me.

Rock:
The Mars Volta -- (Some consider em a bit pretentious? They sound crazy sexy good.)
Blood Brothers -- (very squeaky and abrasive)
Fantomas -- (Um, metal... Mike Patton)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor -- (Epic)
Into the Presence -- (Sexy)
Karicus -- (recent listen. solid instrumental jazzy rock?)
Land of Talk
Tool
A perfect circle -- (yes, i heart Maynard's voice)
Pelican -- (good droning metal?)
The Romanovs

Electronic:
Makeup and Vanity Set -- they remixed the album that will save your life.

Special recommendation:
The Protomen -- (Far more than just a video game band. Their story is like 1984 meets mega man. Their music are not covers of mega man music. And they are here to save you.)

Edit:
DarkLink, Tool! A perfect Circle! Yes!

Lateralus is the greatest album/song ever!

And have you heard Maynard's and Billy's solo stuff? What do you think? I think they need each other. v_v

Please ignore this. Sorry to be an *** (not really), but Aesop Rock is horrible and grating. I can guarantee you will hate this mike

Haha, I knew you'd notice. And don't be sorry!

And they're been like fifty fifty for me to be honest. But I really do like him better than pretty much everything else i come across, which admittedly does not say a whole lot.

Please, you must recommend something! Do it for me. Don't you remember Jack Lavender and his great IC's. ^_^

**** you. the mars volta is amazing. jack was right for the most part about the stuff i heard (though he makes TBB sound bad when they're out of this world amazing, not just good or great).

getting into rap is a tough task, but the best mix of great rap and accessibility is Little Brother by far. It also helps that LB is simply the best rap out there, period

I thank your last fm page that you posted a bit ago.

my knowledge of hip hop doesn't really extend far past Jurassic 5 and Del/Deltron 3030

The Mars Volta is like crazy sex good.

TBB? The Blood Brothers? Haha, i guess i did kind of describe them crudely. Figured if it doesn't scare em away, it will totally get them interested.

And you recommended something! If we ever meet again I'm giving you a sticker that you get to scratch for a secret message. Yes!

I used to think they got better each album -- I remember listening to Frances the Mute every day on repeat for a week straight when it came out, and then after that I made sure to listen to it at least once a day for a month

De-Loused was one of the only albums I listened to all summer long my freshman year of HS

But now that I have time to reflect / have a better musical ear I have to agree De-Loused is the best

but Frances the Mute is a close second, and I think all of their albums are 9+ except maaaybe the latest one (slightly disappointing)

Frances the Mute would probably tie with Deloused if it had the title track on it.

Even though the last one is a little off, I still appreciate what they're doing. I appreciate that they are trying, and not always keeping things comfortable.

Good sh

Daler Mehndi, Tunak Tunak Tun (seriously, it's hella good). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ZUUQZUfEo

This is without mentioning Video Game Sountracks, which I could list probably just as much, but to keep it short, I think these are probably my 5 favorite and listenable VG OST's in no order:
Guilty Gear XX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDjV_o2Noj4
FF6 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGwrbXGq7Tc
Castlevania: SOTN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0zA6djdFL8
Jet Set Radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmRVUMZKJRc
Medal of Honor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K-B3cnCThg
My god your taste in music is perfect. I love all of these and the ones I don't know about I'm now going to check out. I LOVE Jesse Cook.

Mike I suggest you try this Spanish Guitar Artist called the "Gypsy Kings." They are really good and different to the point where you'll like listening to something new.

Betty- not sure about full on opera, but I listen to opera-like artists, like Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Hayley Westenra, etc :)

Classical pieces can sound really different depending on the performers' take on it, so I kind of have to take what I can get when it comes to finding stuff on youtube, but moving on. This is a pretty good variety of stuff I like. I tried to put mostly stuff you generally don't hear on TV or cartoons.

Baroque:
Bach Classical guitar:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-ze51lEt3w
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPfZVflJdp0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n06XCnbvcM I think this should be played a little more robustly

Bach String concertos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmIHESHE3EM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X4DM0dITTA

Bach Keyboard partitas:
These were originally for harpsichord, which is why they sound less 'dynamic,' since harpsichords don't really have that ability while pianos do. I couldn't find any vids with the harpsichord, which I like better despite its lack of dynamic control.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo1tL-Vrzz8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_xU9ZUs_ec

Vivaldi:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dct8n7y2Y4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLuqRl8SdU4

Gluck, Dance of the Furies:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhzQ0hiorl8

Handel, Arrival of the Queen of Sheba:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TGKJ9MgCOQ

Mozart:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_33zTtiWPA I like the way this picks up at about 4:10

Beethoven:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwyrTT09LOs The opening kind of reminds me of the theme from the movie "Tommy Boy"

Romantic:
Chopin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk1JQk90UbY

Brahms Hungarian Dances:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbOpcRAUGHg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsfMkVSDS6s

Dvorak Slavonic Dances:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTo2nfuqaYE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeEx-u5FNJI A nice haunting piece.

Saint Saens:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp0KguwCGw4 I like the variety of moods in this one

Modern, John Adams:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC9HwidzmxM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXsrVbb35b0

Paul Gilbert playing Haydn symphony (electric guitar):

Me him and DJ Combo all listen to the same thousand songs.
He doesn't make any of them, he mixes them, and I used to as well.

Are you interested in classical at all? I know some good tunes.

I think this is a really neat video, and a great piece. 2:13 makes my hairs stand on end ._.
