Say if I wanted to introduce melée to new people what is the most interesting matchup to watch/play?

I was thinking marth/falco(n).

Many of the sets people say were "epic" are Marth/Falco.

-PC Chris vs Ken at MLG NY
-M2K vs Shiz at Fast1
-M2K vs Shiz at Rom1
-Falcomist vs Shiz (although I think this set is the most overrated **** ever)
-M2K vs Dr PP (though M2K went Sheik a lot).
EDIT: -Ken vs. Bomsoldier

With that said, Fox vs Marth feels like "Melee" the most to me. I can't really explain why, though.

I showed the clip of Ken BEASTing and that definitely got some reaction from my friends who are showing interest toward melee.

I play Marth v. Falcon a lot and it seems like a lot of fun as well. Any matches besides Ken v Isai that are good to showcase?

Pretty sure Olimar vs. MK will never embody the essence of Melee, no matter how good it is. Why did you bring it up again?

If you're introducing someone to the game i'm not really sure falcos lasers would be very motivating for a beginner. But I suppose if you cut down on the lasers or let him be the falco it would be fine...

If you want the true essence, then you must look into yourself and find what you love to play or which character you love to play that's the true essence of the matchups.. find your style.

...making interesting maneuvers in the Okanagan...
Ka Master (Luigi) vs Hugs (Samus)

To this day, stands as one of the best sets in the history of this game. Not only from an entertaining point, but in terms of intelligence in the game, flexibility of characters and adaptation of players.

Anyone who says samus luigi is any LESS legit than any other match up in the game, is naive.

Falco/Fox vs Marth/Shiek is the embodiment of classic and general melee. Too good and too much to have anything else on the list.

pc vs ken

pc vs m2k

shiz vs m2k

shiz vs falcomist (got a lot of hype, id say definitely made its way into melee history)

cping you to Mute at a MDZ tourney
Falco vs Marth is such a manly MU. Most of the best sets i've seen have been in that MU.
I also think Fox v Falco is incredibly awesome, very brother vs brother
Falcon dittos also have the true spirit of melee

My personal favourite MU is peach vs marth. It feels so "good vs evil", i love watching peach win that MU because it's such an uphill climb.

Another thing too, Falco vs Marth is the most epic.

It's like, you have the really really fast, technical and deadly "across the stage up and down platform" combo character Falco. He's locking Marth down with lasers, so it always looks like he's on the offensive.

Then there's Marth, who gets hit more than Falco does due to having to guess when he's going to approach and when he's not going to. Marth gets combo'd a few times, loses a life.

But give him one opportunity, gets the grab off, next thing you know gimp at 15 percent.

It's a back and forth match up, very intense and fast paced with one character always in control, but the other able to do just as much damage with one opening. Epic and legendary haha
