Wavedashing in Brawl... (Hacked version)

I'm going to just start reporting ANY post that says something along the lines of "If you want Melee, play Melee.", "This will not be in standard tournaments." or anything else along the lines of "Melee vs Brawl" or "Stop hacking Brawl."

It's spam, and it isn't even affecting you, get over it.

I understand your feelings in this but please do not include the hackers into it - I simply hack for the challenge and as a hobby - I mainly think of every hack I make as an achievement. Most of the time I don't actually use my hacks but I don't exactly keep them stored uselessly in my computer either - I post them on the boards so other people can get use out of them

The thing that upsets me is everyone is assuming that the purpose of you hacking Brawl, or anyone using your codes is trying to create Melee 2.0. Brawl with wavedashing still plays almost nothing like Melee. It simply speeds Brawl up and makes some room for mindgames.

Although I DO tend to refer to it as Melee 2.0 just because that's how everyone knows about hacked Brawl, (I prefer to call it Brawl+ or Brawl Plus), I really think it should be called BRAWL 2.0, as it still plays more like Brawl than Melee.

this hacked brawl may actually allow me to enjoy brawl again. some people have different opinions than you do, if you don't like the hacked version, get over it and stop trying to voice your opinion when no one cares.

This has got to be the greatest code ever. I can't even begin to say how much more my game has improved over the last 20 min I've been playing with this code on. I can't wait for a tournament!! XD

Well if other people are then I might. Of course I still will play the normal version of brawl plenty, but if all of these codes could bring about a Melee 2.0, then I would gladly play brawl that way.

I just might host a WD/no trip tourney at Oregon State University if I use this mod for a while and it doesnt crash the wii.

I really enjoy how you can't multiple dodge in the air. It helps make the game more offensive than having infinate air dodges.

He already made Shield Canceling (you can shield at any point during aerial lag) and I think given Brawl's ridiculous shield speed that's probably enough.

Why don't people understand the brawl out of the box is not an Ideal game? They think we just want to make it more like Melee but that isn't the point. We are simply tying to make the game better the only way we know how: president. We look at what worked in the past and apply it now.

It's not about moving backwards it's about taking the series forward, continuing the progression in a long running line of truly competitive (albeit accidentally so) games.

Anyone who posts on these boards should be like minded in this endeavor. When have we ever been content with just what we were told we could do? When did our glorious community and mentality decide to settle for a sub-par experience? Have we simply forgotten how we used to enjoy competition in games past? While at the same time there are those valued among us who truly never knew and did not have the chance.

Why not, if it is in our power do we not fully support such a calling? Is it the fear in our hearts, or the doubt we have in our fellow?

Neither of these things should ever hold hold us back. Because there is nothing we can't overcome nothing we can't do if we work as one.

That is what I am trying to say. We can do this! We all can help! We all can benefit!

It's called "Shield Canceling" because it allows you to shield anytime during your aerial landing lag. So... in a sense, this would be best used with SSBM Air Dodge to connect aerials better for combos.

I'm saying that the code is viable to be used in a tournament as long as it continues to never crash. (It's ugly when the final match crashes when its 1stock to 2stock)

I'm also going to try your shield canceling mod and see how well that works.

Also, is there any limit to the amount of codes you can use with Ocerina. I think I'm up to over 100 lines, and with the old Action Replays the game would eventually refuse to boot if you have too many codes.

Also, seeing as how this wavedashing code is complete, talk about wavedashing in Brawl is pretty much gone all together. It may be better to make a thread for more than one technique being hacked into Brawl.

Luigi and Lucas BOTH get extra nice stuff with their WDs and so does DK and Diddy Kong.

DK can WD Ftilt and basically **** any projectile (except Din's Fire but, the WD can get past that if you're from far away and the opponent doesn't release Din's Fire expecting you to WD towards them). Diddy Kong has some serious mind games with his WD. Basically, you can down Glide Toss and then WD forward to regrab the banana and Glide Toss it or do the same thing again as a mind game. Seriously, it's too good for Diddy. Lucas gets a boost in combo ability and the use of his Fsmash for KO increases tenfold, sliding across the stage and Fsmashing someone in the face is too good.

And Luigi's Dsmash can slide crazily far to set someone up in the air or to attack with in general. I haven't done much else with Luigi but, his game DOES improve with this... especially with a mind game of WD'ing past your opponent and doing an Fsmash to hit them (the Fsmash stops all momentum) for a KO.

you can simply just to tap shield and you'll stop

I got to thinking today;

I've been calling the "Hacked" Brawl a sort of "Melee 2." I'm starting to feel like that's taking away from what the hack is really doing for Brawl.

I believe these hacks are turning Brawl into what Melee players have been waiting for since first we saw the Brawl Trailer.

This feels more like a Beta Test for a new version of Brawl. Like it's Brawl mark II or something.

Once again, I ask that you please do not include the hackers into you're little discussions. Personally, I could care less if wavedashing made the game more like Melee or not. To me, hacking is the game and Brawl(or other games) is the console - it's what I get accomplished that matters, the end result is irrelevant to me. I simply see a challenge, take it up, and see if I can do it... Now if you'd prefer that I don't post any of the end results on the boards anymore, that's fine with me. But you can be the one to face the angry mobs of people who enjoy seeing and using fun or interesting hacks created for games when there are no more hackers to make them.
