Sup ****,
First day of Tempest over. Was ****ing fun. Even though I came 5th. I lost to Toki (pro marth) and J-Birds (surprisingly good Snake). I played Jesmo in pools who has a very very VERY good Wolf, was a close 2-1 win for me and in brackets played Meteor Master who I comfortably 2 stocked in both games. I got to play Ted and Chris in some friendlies and **** they are good. I went 2 - 4 against Ted, winning the first 2 against his Wario they he clued up and beat me twice with his Wario and twice with his Wolf. Hopefully my matches against Chris were recorded/up on the stream because I went 2-1 against him. Overall, even though I didn't win, I'd proud of myself and I'm now semi-recognised as close to Tibs.
Corey did pretty well for not having played anyone decent for 9+ months. He got 17th overall I think which was what he aimed for.
Doubles being tomorrow, ready to get *****! :D Mostly from Corey killing me.

Awesome work dude, unlucky against J-birds, didn't seem like you were playing to your full potential against him so bad luck. We were/are all here at Marty's supporting you!

Make sure to let us know how you go in dubs.

Very quiet and spam free ever since the moderation, Alzi being banned and Techno going down south, don't you agree old chaps?

As for the Kareem issue, I'll try talking to him about it, hopefully he'll be more pro active if I say something :p

No need man - I've already e-mailed him ;) Don't really want to push him too much about it as he's doing a massive favour for us ^^ If he's too busy I'll just investigate something else until his time frees up...

well considering his blood is made of coke and he can survive without drinking water, I wouldnt say its too much of stretch to assume mm can teleport.

Whoever this doppelganger is he certainly let me down at Tempest, probably didn't have his daily intake of coke to enhance his playing skill tenfold.

May I also ask which character he played?

Incidently, if anything's been planned for the july tournament, can they get the info up on Ausmash? No point advertising at supanova if we put it up last minute and all the new people have already made plans.

As soon as there's a post up on Ausmash/Perth Listings thread I'll be sending out the e-mail to the mailing list again ^^

Thought so.

I always wanted to vs Jezmo offline and you.

Anyway is anyone going to the connection tour from our scene? I need a doubles partner for the second day which is Saturday. Teaming with me will give you basically a 95% chance of winning as I've been practicing heaps. Plus when we win we both get a trophy and tickets to Sydney... :)

(This is assuming that i somehow don't win on the first day.)

This is how it goes basically i will give people a run down.

Nsmbwii Coin challenge.

First day July 9th Friday.

Be there at around 9:00 not sure when it starts but i am guessing around 9:30. They are letting about 200 something people to register for the coin challenge. But they won't get that many. Expect a low turn out of about 150 people.

First day is singles as i said. At around 12:00 you can line up to get free shirts with your name on it. Only a limited of people so be there quick. The prize for first place is Super mario galaxy 2 and a mario statue saying you won that day. Tickets to Sydney to compete in a national tournament. If you win the national tournament then you win the grand prize of tickets to New York and $1000 spending money at the Nintendo World Store.

Day 2 10th July Saturday

This day is teams. Same rules apply. Person with the MOST coins in the team so only one person in the team with the most coins will go through. If you and your team member win you BOTH get this trophy:

Oh man how i wish it was the trophy in the middle. Anyway yeah you win that. More pictures:

This is the team that won it in Melbourne. They both won tickets to Sydney to compete in the national Doubles tournament and if they win that they get to go to New York as well.

I was originally planning to team with my sister but i figured someone from the scene would be much better.

Travis i will gladly team with you if you go on msn we can talk team tactics that are very simple lol.

I need to tell the host of this Jamie a message as well that todd from queensland said hi.

I know every stage of by heart and can speed run them with ease.

Yeah my bad, had my hopes up it being Meteor. It was just a rand named Ricky (which I think I remember being Meteor Master's name IIRC).
Forgive my down syndrome.

What happened?

I keep getting banned but somehow rise from underground. I am totally ganondorf.

Anyway hope to get some friendlies with you ric when you arrive at the tournament. I will give tips too people as well on during the day if they want any from friendlies that get played or matches. It's the only way we can improve as a scene greatly.

I'm honestly on the fence for this one

Firstly we should get one thing straight: The brawl ruleset is altered to ensure that the player with more skill wins. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I'm going to base my points on (note that I'm not taking a particular side).

So how do we define skill? Being able to plank frame perfectly or being a player as good as DEHF?

If it's the former, then a ledge grab limit should obviously exist. Ledge grabbing is in the game and is not a setting you can alter unlike items.

If it's the latter, then there should be no ledge grab limit. I'm going to safely say that a character like Falco is going to have an incredibly difficult time winning against a ledge camper, simply because he has incredibly limited options to deal with it. The problem lies here though - if you're a 'more skilled' player than your opponent (going by the latter definition in the first paragraph) then ledge grabbing isn't fair and should be endorsed to ensure that the more skilled player wins.

I could elaborate more on this but I'd like to see what other people say first :) I hope I've made my position clear though - I don't mind either way.

Vlade, I think you got your points mixed up :p If skill is defined as being able to plank perfectly, then the ledge grab limit should not exist ^^

Personally, I believe that we should be considering the ulterior motive here - that is, to make the game more enjoyable to watch (and play :p)... Weighing up the pros and cons of effects on actual competitiveness of the game (in my head, cos i'm at work :p) it comes out pretty even on my view, and thus the only thing that separates Yay with Nay is the fun-factor...

[Hope people read the tourney post for you Trav :p Also, could we get the thread cleaned up??? I'll e-mail the results to Bob tomorrow and delete my posts there, but someone will need to delete the actual post :p]

EDIT: Waiting for the stage ****storm to start :D

EDIT2: **** I'm bad!! Yes, I'll be there, with the buggered CRT if it holds out til then, and a Wii/Brawl... Also got a couple of powerboards and one short extension cord...
