The best ruleset I have every played with. Attention is more focused around Player vs Player and strategy rather than abusing any stage mechanics (with the exception of PS1 Windmill) and it feels very proffessional. I don't think i could go back to a different stage set, and I think it was just one thing (of many, many things) that contributed to the great atmosphere.
SHOUTOUTS
Fantastic tournament. Good job Dekar.
Was happy that a large amount of people found these tournaments and decided to attend.
It's very reassuring since at times last year the playerbase was less than 15 and we've more then doubled that with this tournament.
Sorry to Danza and Tommie and Sebby, and anyone else who I intended to have friendlies with or said I was going to have some friendlies but couldn't. Because I enter all events (and do alright in them) I don't really get to play any friendlies or else the tourney will not finish on time :/
I probably will not enter brawl doubles (or melee doubles) anymore because of this.
@Danza; on a day that suits you, if you want to catch up so we can play friendlies someday, just PM me on smashboards and we'll try to organise something. My apologies that we didn't get to play yesterday, I feel really bad about that ;c
Good work in doubles, you placed equal with Joey and I.
@Tak; I'd rather vs you in melee singles than brawl singles. I am not joking.
@Attila; Good work getting carried by Tak in doubles.
@Tibs; You rush too much; in deciding stages and starting each match. This reflects in your play and I think you should calm down and just enjoy yourself more. Good games, at least you showed up.
@DD; More practice for you
@Ledge; zzz how'd this guy get into semis zzz
@Jei; hardest matches of the tournament. I think you should be 4th on the PR depending on what we decide to do with that scrub Tibs. You're almost certainly better than me, it's just my character will always be better than yours and that is not something you can change
I propose a new rule: only 1 arrow per 5 ledge grabs with a total of 50 LGL for Pit. That's 10 offstage arrows and you're DQ'd. This will end your terror (:<
@Nicks; good to see you again, you tall, lanky, bearded man.
@JJJJ; Good work in teams. You did fine and honestly didn't actually do anything wrong except when you tried to save me with squirtle and died. We lost in winners because I did not prepare for the stage change (I would ban PS1 in singles tbh, I just don't like to have to deal with that and how glitchy my characters hitboxes are on tilts) and we lost against Attila and Tak because Tak is better than me at Brawl.
@Leisha; I did not realise you were on any drugs, you seemed fine lol. Good to see you again, I don't actually remember the last time I saw you. Reloaded maybe? lol!
@Sebby; I didn't get a chance to say hi and play some friendlies with you. I am really impressed with how you did. Please send me a PM if you have a smashboards account
@Allens; Nice to see you and play you again. I didn't know you played guitar
That first game in our set was very close, I was playing overly aggressive because I was scared of you charging DK punch, then I realised it's better to let you do it, and just space you out so it's very telegraphed when you use the punch and I can sheild/dodge it. It was very scary though. Yoshi's Island is hard :C
If you travel down to Melbourne again, I will catch up with you again, other wise I won't see you til next year at best. Good luck learning the 1 frame invincicopter
and I hope you didn't lose too much money at the casino
@Btmns; Nice you meet you! I wasn't really sure how good you would be since you are relatively new but I was quite surprised. Your spacing game needs work; even though Toon Link is projectile based, if you know how far my aerial reach is and the like, only then can you camp me. Otherwise it's very easy to get in. That's all I noticed from the 1v1 moment in doubles
Also you could have killed me with Uair a few times, i think you might have thought I was trying to bait you (i was a bit) but sometimes i just legitimately couldn't think of a safer way to the ground as I didn't want to be bair'd either
Maining toon link you'll definitely have a very hard time landing kill moves against careful campy players. That's why my short stint maining toon link was.... well, short
Good luck with your band
@Timic; thankyou for the lift, and very well played set against Nicks in Brawl. Good work in melee also, good to see you're still able to do well even though you don't really play that much anymore
.
Pokemon puzzle league is no substitute for Yoshis tetris attack.
@Robsta; your doc is ruthless, I will not make the mistake of challenging it again.
@Kier; Totally missed out on Melee friendlies with you! We NEED to play some next time I see you! Hope you enjoyed Brawl, and also good effort by you in Melee singles.
@Tom; Totally missed out on Melee friendlies with you! We NEED to play some next time I see you! Hope you enjoyed your party tho
@Jezza; Good to see you again, you're becoming a very familiar face
@Luke; It always makes me feel good when I see the humble and gentle giant, Atyeo. Light conversation always a pleasure (even thought to be quite honest I don't have much to say)
@Bijou; Good to see you again! Looking forward to you becoming a more and more regular attendee! My bad coming up against you in doubles and singles >_<
You didn't too badly at all, the competition was definitely very high yesterday!
@Rhino; Same goes for you! GG's, you may have the best Peach in Victoria on account of the fact no-one plays as peach.
@Matt-G; Sorry I was too busy to hang out with you much, I hope you had a good time anyway
@Heat and Glare; well played beating me in every event, You always stopped me in my tracks when I came up against you in bracket. I will keep practising and one day I will get at your level.
Heat and Glare could be replaced with Toshiba. >:C
If this was your first/second tourney, welcome to the Melbourne smash community, I hope you had a great time.
Congratulations, Earl
GG's, ~Billy
