afaik. I've seen goggles bring out G&W but he hasn't played melee in a while. I don't think i've seen luigi or mario though.
It'd be awesome if someone outside of NY came to these. I wanna play against other people.

Kwan's got a sick DK, but AFAIK he's been off the tournament scene for a while. There's also a decent G&W in Troy, although he may have moved to the city.

yo, there was this dude named tuna, who learned about our tourneys like a week before he had to go on an internship halfway around the world, he lived like near the border of NY and PA.

I watched a couple of his vids, and no lie, he played the sickest pichu i had ever seen in life.

Also, im working on my young link.

Artery Clogger has a pretty legit luigi.

nobody really plays pikachu. for some reason, jesse went pika vs cura in one game. and im pretty sure he got stomped out.

Foy stopped playing bowser a long time ago.

theres like 15-20 consistent players, one player for like 20 out of the 26 characters, and a dozen of them still play fox...

I played DK.

His last stock, I grabbed him on the right side of dreamland facing right. f threw him, up threw him. hit him with 2 short hop up airs, full jumped another up air. landed on the right platform. Short hopped another up air. Full jumped another up air. landed on the middle plat form. Short Hopped ANOTHER up air. and finished it with a full jump, b reverse giant punch.

SIX up airs to punch. AND it star KOed him on Dreamland.

Was the craziest thing Ive ever done in melee. It was the cashest thing youve ever seen, it was so amazing.

Can I hype my own tournament for a bit? It was really really good. Got a few more people to join Smashboards and come out of the woodwork; this is exactly what the community needs IMO.

Also, I'm going to be holding another Geneseo tournament next fall, since the venue folk were really impressed by how well we handled ourselves. Nothing got stolen, everyone seemed to have a good time.

Any idea when the PR will be updated? Idk if this tournament makes it to the PR or not.

Without the tournament this saturday, the rochester people are in lack of an end-year (schoolyear) event, so perhaps for the more early-night smash, at least, we could get everyone up at the fireside lounge for a change. I'm cool with jesse's and all, but I have no stamina for how late you all go, which I believe is the case for many people here. I know a lot of you got to see how it's a great space for hanging out in last week, so maybe we can get a bigger crew there this week for some chillin out and maybe mini-tournies before you all smash at jesse's till sunday.

Unfortunately, it's not. Here's the poast:

Sorry guys but due to a number of circumstances I'm going to have to cancel this event. I've had some people who where going to originally help me invest in the venue back out. I mean it wasn't a big deal originally but now the venue wants even more.

I just called the venue and the want to increase the cost of the venue some more at the last minute. It was originally going to be 225 for the day without renting the kitchen, but now they want me to pay $300 "because we're going to be at the venue for so long." I spoke to my dad and he told me the are really desperate for money so yeah. . .

A lot of people can't come because of finals and such. It's a significant amount of people really.

I would be paying the most for the venue at this point and I'm trying to save up for MLG Columbus, and otakon which are both going to be expensive trips, and with this increase in venue cost there is just no way me or any of the other investors could break even.

Everyone who chipped in money for the venue will get it back of course. Hopefully cura will throw one of his smash fest next weekend.

Sorry guys, I know this is going to be a very unpopular decision, but it was the responsible thing to do. I hope you understand.

Eh, I don't think we can throw together a legit tourney at all on short notice, but it would be a fairly long sustained smashfest type thing we could do, with mini-tourneys inside. Kinda fly-by-the-seat-of-your pants type stuff.

Wasn't totally expecting interest from out-of-area people, since I was just suggesting something fairly impromptu, but I guess you're not THAT far away, either. Iunno; let's talk this over guys. Who's up for gathering at RIT this friday and then comboing off to somewhere else late-night (presumably jesse's, I'd wager, not that I have any clue if his place is even open for biz this weekend.) Should we do something fairly casual or try and throw together a kinda basic tourney?
