Dude, everyone has improved soooo much, and there's so much potential for more. I think of us like a miniature Arizona...Forward, Axe, Wobbles, Light, Taj...They're stacked. The only advantage they ever had over any other community, the ONLY advantage they had, is that there were a group of people in that area who lived close enough, and who loved Smash a lot. If a community has both of those requirements met, then they'll become a top community. That's my theory at least. The love for the game drives people to constantly want to improve, but they need other people with that drive in the same area so they can play all the time.
That's what we have now, we just started later than some other communities.
Min- Definitely in the spotlight right now in WNY. Improving a ton, also very very smart. Min, you need to be more brutal though. You have some reallllly good combos, but at the same time they are very rare. You need to consistently combo and capitalize as much as possible. Your matches vs me and ESPECIALLY neil it was just obvious that the only reason you lose was because your opponent capitalized more. Although I believe Neil is smarter than you as a player, because Neil is actually really Smash smart, he was really rusty but still managed to do more damage and edge guard better. You have to start moving on from trying to improve with certain small strategies, and focus more on pushing the advantage as much as possible when you have it. BUT, I DO think that you've already come such a long way in pushing the advantage, so basically just keep doing whatever you're doing dude. I mean, when I think of it, it is scary fighting against you when you have me in certain situations, and you've gotten really good at being able to tell when your opponent is going to tech and when they aren't, and that's a reallly big part of being able to punish and push the advantage. So yeah man just keep improving lol. Also it's very apparent that you lose with Link when you're in your shield vs like, Fox and Sheik...If I had one thing for you to improve on, I'd say watch some Link videos of Skler and see what he does to avoid even being in his shield at all. Just sayin.
Rob- Definitely way better dude. Way better. Technically you've come SOO far it's ridiculous, and you've also gotten wayyy smarter. Sometimes you look very confused when you play though, and it's obvious that you haven't explored the situation you're in enough to come know all the options you have. Like, you're too random sometimes. When people say being random is good, let me tell you what they MEAN to say: Being random once in a while with GOOD options is good. You take good options, and you mix them up. You're kind of random is just a general mess of randomness. I mean, it's not THAT bad, but sometimes you just throw out attacks I feel and then get punished for them.
But, a bigger problem is I don't feel like you're reading your opponent enough. I feel like you play against their character, not the opponent, so you really can lose to anyone at anytime since you don't have the ability to read your opponent to stay one step ahead. This also explains why you lost to Pyro, although I personally believe you're better than him. (No offense to Pyro at all)
Foy- You shouldn't have cheated and looked at this post before it was done. Now you don't get an improvement shoutout. Burn in hell.
Juni- I think you have top 3 potential out of anyone in WNY seriously. You're just naturally smart and you learn so quick. Your only problem is you just don't know enough about the game, that's all. Options, timing, etc. You also haven't played enough to practice the intricacies, like spacing yourself one inch away from Marth's sword at all time, knowing where to hit with your attacks at certain percents so you don't get crouch cancelled, etc. Just keep playing with us more and asks lots of questions, and I'll randomly explain stuff too. You got it.
Beta- WTF man wayyyyy better idk how but you've improved a lot. You have enough knowledge and skill in the game to really start improving and developing yourself as a true tournament threat. You need to start reading your opponent more though. Always try to be one step ahead. I mean, you punish me hard, you're hard to hit and you're fast...But, at the same time, I'm the one always getting the first hits in. So you really need to start setting the pace for the battle man. I'm always in control and always setting the tone for what happens. YOU are always trying to escape me, and trying to work around what I'm doing. You have to start threatening more man, start thinking about what I'm doing, and just develop your game so that you're very intelligently controlling the match more.
Burak- Dude, it's so sad to see you and Foy's tech errors. Your tech errors are just a result of not playing a lot dude. That's really what it is. You have a lot of hear though and show up whenever you can which is good man. Just practice like 15 mins before bed like Beta does. That way at least you won't LOSE your tech skill. Maybe you won't gain any at a really fast rate, but at least you'll remain the same and be more consistent. You just need to play consistently more dude, and slow the **** down and not freak out and just randomly attack everything. You're so spazzy when you play I feel. Just relax.
Mana- Definitely one of the 5 players I'm counting on to get to the professional level in WNY. Excuse me, the minimum 5. You're already at an insane level, but for now I would stop working on improving your skill level, I'd focus on being able to consistently reach your highest current skill level. Cuz, really most of the time you look like you're barely playing over 65-70%. Your 100% was incredible the one time I saw it, and if you could play at maximum skill at least like, 85% of the time, at that point is when you should focus on improving your max skill. Just practice more man, tech stuff. Be more conscious to the finer details of the technical situation. If you're having trouble L cancelling on shields on some random day, just as soon as you hit the shield, consciously think "Ok, wait for the L cancel...Now." Micro manage that **** if you have to in order to get it to the point where it just becomes a general thing more consistently. Also, come to my place more dude. You need more concentrated hours of Smash training. Yours is here or there, by the time you play people again, you've already forgotten about what you were working on and trying to improve on. I know school comes first dude, that's really good that you have that much discipline. But you know what you gotta do.
Kelvin- That ***&a's too good.
Foy- Just kidding dude, of course I'll give you an improvement shoutout. I just don't feel like typing yours yet, check the bottom brah.
Sai- Your playstyle is effective and definitely frustrating to play against, I can see how people would lose to that and it definitely gets in your head. And you are very patient which compliments the advantage your playstyle already gives you. But, overall I've determined you are limiting your potential by an incredible amount. You are focusing on being good at one particular strategy. Dude, here's a different idea for you. Try taking time and learning options, situations, and most importantly, reading your opponent. Learn perfect timing and execution in every situation. Then, you will have a solid playstyle when you're on the stage, and you'll have an advantage over your opponent, because you are smarter than them. Then, you also have this insane ledge strategy you've developed to fall back on in case you need it, or if you have a big lead and don't want to jeopardize it. Your edge game itself can be beaten, and a certain caliber of player will always be able to beat it pretty easily I feel. (First game with Fox vs you I was just being as offensive as possible to test something, then I was like OK i'm just gonna obliterate his strategy which I did and my Sheik suicided so basically, what I'm saying is there was no skill in your win at all.... ... ... LMAO jk dude) But basically what I'm saying is any player over a certain skill level and just dismantle that strategy I feel. Edgecamping really isn't that good vs good players, even though it can secure wins vs players that are decent and below.
Also, just to clarify you're already smart at the game. When i say learn to read your opponent, I just mean get smarter than you already are. On stage it's not very hard for me to read you, but every once in a while you'll do really good for a certain stock and just ****, so I know you know what you're doing...The problem is once someone adapts to that I find your playstyle is too one dimensional to fight back at that point. But you're still improving a lot, and you might already know all of this. Also, you really need to come to my smashfests more cuz that will help you improve twice as quick.
Vicious- Dude, tech issues. Playing with me for 2 years has given you a large advantage over everyone. You need to do the right things MORE though. Even when you're playing technically ****ty, which is like 80% of the time, you need to learn to always DI properly, and also start making better recovery options. You're very linear with your recovery. Also, mix up your strategies more. You're like a mini dudutsai. Your strategies **** people that are at a certain level, but higher level than that and it seems hard for you to mix it up. Like, you do jab grab on shield a lot. It's good, it's quick and the reward is great and it's hard to have enough reaction time to avoid it. But, I know you're going to jab, so I dodge knowing that YOU will dodge, so I dash behind you and grab you. Boom. The advantage you had is now gone, and you will probably lose a stock. I'm 2 steps ahead of you because we've been in that situation so many times and I know what you're going to do. Don't focus on winning, focus on learning. Next time you jab my shield, wait and see what I do. Or jab, back up and space, ftilt my shield and force me to do something. You have the advantage in that position, but you give it up too easily. When you're playing good though, I feel you're tied with Neil for #2 position in WNY when he's playing good. But, I still think Neil would win vs you in tourney when you're both playing your best, unless you can start to mix your game up more, and focus on reading your opponent more. That's all.
Nitro- Definitely getting better man. However, you get dash dance grabbed too easily. Also, try playing around with different characters dude. Most of the time I can tell if a character fits a certain person, but in your case, I never feel like you should be playing Ganon. Falco seems like you dude believe it or not. For some reason I see you as a Falco player. Just my 2 cents really, I haven't played you enough to like, analyze your gameplay. Come over more pl0x.
Cura- Definitely one of the most smash smartest players in WNY. I didn't really see it at first, but then I realized how good I was and that it wasn't that you weren't smart, it's that I was just really really smart. LMAO totally ****ing kidding dude. But, you need to practice Melee more. I know Brawl is your game, but it just hurts to see your Melee potential held back by Brawl lol...But yeah, if you practice more of course you'd be a top 5 Melee player in WNY. Maybe top 7 cuz I don't think you'll play enough to get to that point.
Amber- You need to stop dodging and rolling, you know this. Stop panicking when someone is within 2 feet of you. Understand that you play Sheik, one of the most threatening characters in the game. Try this experiment. Slowly walk up to your opponent when they are near the ledge. Watch how quickly they panic and get scared. Just slowly walk up, and watch them instantly dodge or shield or do something stupid and random like kill themselves. That's the power you hold with Sheik, but you're constantly running because when your space gets choked, your mind feels like it can't think fast enough to keep up with the close quarters situation, so that power is wasted. What you need to do is slow down, and be in those positions more. Put yourself in positions where you normally would have rolled away from. Learn them. Learn to have the advantage in them. Pay attention to the intricasies like timing, stun time, and crouch cancelling. Get used to them, and get used to coming on top in those situations. Stop being so nervous all the time. Also, marry me.
Neil- Wtf dude just play Melee again. You're way too good to just play Brawl. It's annoying watching you mess so much simple stuff up and still come 2nd in tournaments. It's stupid. Just play and **** people, c'mon.
Goggles- I know you don't really play much, but again, you have the same problem as dudutsai, and steffon to a small extent...Your playstyle, even if it's good and effective once in a while, just gets dismantles and broken apart by good players. You have to adapt more. Adapt adapt adapt.
Foy- Yeah, I was lying you ain't getting **** dude. Shouldn't have looked.
Rick- Come back please you were so smart thinking back you had a refreshing style of play. Although, I'm now much smarter than you and also more offensive with Fox, so maybe you should stay in retirement. I'm so glad I'm actually the best now since you tore me up in that first Arena post I ever made, now at least I can talk **** and feel justified. You'll never read this ever.
Things people in general need to improve on:
-Learning how to DI correctly ALL THE TIME. Even when you're getting *****, learning the most effective ways to lessen the ****...lol?
-Comboing
-Tech skill in general
-DI again, let me reiterate: Your DI is all really really bad. Just...Please, it hurts my eyes. Just hold away at least. Even if you don't learn how to DI everything properly, just learn to hold away when getting combo'd. That's all I ask.
Yannick- What's up dude
