Yes juu give us all the buffs. All bacon is super bacon in 3.0
both 4 hammer and 9 with OHKO.

Makes the odds of side B so much better.

But 1 and 6 also will force your shield to break the next time you do so.

Just make Down-B absorb any hit-box.
Do that and he's fine.
Any hit-box? Are you referring to projectiles specifically or would this open GnW up to absorb actual physical blows as kinetic force in his bucket, which he could turn around later and empty on someone's head?

I don't think Ivy or Luigi is that bad. I recently lost to a Luigi in tournament but I think it was just from a lack of matchup experience. His recovery is like the easiest thing in the world to gimp and spacing well timed fairs pretty much shuts down his approach. Ivy likes to get hit by strings of bairs soo

it was pretty easy for gw before but robs saving grace was killing gw from a grab at 60%. Now that thats gone i don't see rob having much to deal gw

Just started picking up G&W because of his uniqueness. Anything I should know starting off?
The biggest things I see are that short hop + bacon = good
dair into usmash/9hammer is pretty good
bair is a really useful tool
And side and down tilts are pretty decent for spacing

I also know of the bucket brake, I kind of wish he had the bucket of Melee that could store up to 300% damage because why not, but you can OHKO anyone with 3 Mario fireballs pretty much.

I'm also working on DACUS, but it isn't always super effective, though rewarding to pull off.

Lastly, what are some cool combos? The only combos I can get off are bacon into bacon into judgment, dair into usmash or judgment, and upB into any aerial. I really love G&Ws speed, but his moves seem so slow and telegraphed he's hard to utilize. And the langing lag on aerials is immense so if I miss the l cancel I'm dead because he is the lightest of the light. He's still fun though, I'm finding he has a hard time against sword characters, I find myself hard pressed to get a stock off Marth or Ike with him unfortunately.

Haha, that inspires me a bit more to try and be creative with him. He's just so different he's hard to pick up.

G&W combo's really easily. Just remember what is low knock back moves are and try to string as many of those together as possible.

They are up air, up tilt, up throw, and up B. then finish with Up Smash ᕦ(° Д°)ᕤ

Thanks! Isn't bair in there too? I love just tossing out multiple bairs and doing mad damage.
I didn't know how G&W worked at first, but he's pretty solid in the air and dtilt/dair have been great combo starters.
Also, is dair into judgment hammer/usmash a thing? Or is that just a sacky move? Because it seems like against fast fallers at higher percents it has been a legit finisher.

Dair to UpSmash is real, and it works on most characters at certain percents depending on their weight. But it's the landing hitbox that does it. The one that comes out when G&W hits the ground is a meteor so it causes groundbounce and extra hitstun.

I've noticed the extra hitstun, but I don't really know how I land it.
Is it just landing with the key out? Or hitting them with the meteor hitbox at the hilt of the key?
Does l-cancelling get rid of the hitbox?

The landing hitbox is completely separate from the normal ones. In total the move has three different hitboxes. On the first active frame there is a meteor that does 17 damage. Then there is the normal hitbox which does 15 damage and has kind of an up and away angle. Then there is the landing one which comes out on the frame G&W hits the ground regardless of whether or not you L-Cancel it (You should always L-Cancel it). It does 6 damage and is also a meteor.

Meteor hitboxes affect grounded and areal opponents very differently. If you hit someone while they are in the air it will send them straight down and it can't be DI'd so they will always go exactly straight down regardless of what direction they are holding. But the opponent can jump or Up-B after like 15 frames or so to cancel some of there downward momentum. Against grounded opponents meteors cause them to ground bounce. Just like the air one it cannot be DI'd so they go straight up. But unlike the air one it's hitstun is locked and they can't jump out of it. The distance the opponent bounces is obviously dependent on what percent they are at and how much damage the move does. So the first frame 17 damage hitbox will bounce them much higher than the 6 damage landing hitbox.

G&W also has landing hitboxes on his back air and up air. The up air one is very situational, but the back air one is essential for keeping the move safer against sheilds.

Alrighty, thank you. I for the most part knew how meteors worked, I was just unsure of how the landing hitboxes come out and when.
I think I got it, but I need to work on the dair landing hitbox more because I really like using it. Also been abusing upB pretty hard, it's too good not to use and is probably why I was struggling to combo before.

It's the first right of passage as a G&W player to name your turtle. The second is to have your whole crew curse it by that name.

Crap... I didn't make the name... it was a local Brawl Diddy that did, who just liked G&W on the side in that game...

Is that ok?

Edit: I was in the room when he did, and liked the name (always advocated its awesomeness and that's why he gave it attention) and my bro was the one who started spreading it...
*must make sure I have done these passages correctly*

Got 4th last weekend, lost to (3rd) Anther in LSF (0-2) and (2nd) Dope in WSF (1-2). Also lost to (1st) Shady 0-2 in a $1 MM. That was Sheik vs Ivy though.
