Hello P:M G&W section. I am a Gdubber from the land of Brawl who is taking an interest in P:M. How does GnW fare so far in 3.0?

Yeah he's got crazy combo tools, an awesome projectile, and silly kill power. Couple that with great recovery/Bucket braking and you have a really solid character.

some gnw matches
No skillet spike love in those videos. :(

Despite my dislike of Zelda as a character, I think GnW has her number. She can't control GnW with Din's fire that well, so if you just bait out her Nayru's love and play patiently I feel like he should win the match up. Up B/Dair out of shield set all sorts of combos up and she dies so easily to u smash.
Of course if you don't know the Zelda match up you get bodied so hard. That character is so silly.

Sweet. How do you do it? Is the same as in Brawl?
Yep, Down B out of hitstun lets you defy physics. It still has the slight stall in the air so that can help mix up your recovery.

It's not really like brawl at all. Because hit stun is so much higher it's nearly useless in normal situations. it does have one ridiculous application though, if you slide off the edge you have no hit stun so in some situations you can cc a move and mash bucket break to stop yourself right off the corner.

Hmmm...alright. Thanks.

I kinda figured that. Do you have a video of that application your suggesting?

some new videos posted on my channel from our recent live streamed smashfest

Washington has a VERY strong GW presence.

Kayfabe and Meiling especially are both really solid, Meiling consistently having done great things in tournament as well as just playing really stylish. They even have a ditto in this playlist!

Mei-kun, you don't like to nair at all do you? lol. Good stuff with the comeback in Game 1 in the ditto, though.

Congrats Dakpo.

Some junk I said on the dead GnW Skype Group:

Been working on a few things. Get your ledgeDACUS/ledgeDACG and ledge gatlings together, fellow GnW players.
I've been working on some Jab1 / Jab2 Gatlings as well. LedgeDACUS is hard, though. I've got some notes on my iTouch about jab staggers, some ledge stuff and I'm trying to compile a bit more. I've also comboed pan hit of Chef into Gatling / Pan Hit into Jab Stagger Gatling. GnW's jab pressure I'm finding is a bit more average than bad like I thought it was, but I'm feeling better now that I'm actively looking to get a little more creative with some stuff. I'm going back to look at GnW's ledge game primarily, though.

Good stuff Dakpo! I know I've had beef with like everyone on this site lmao but I gotta respect your ability as a player and reppin' mah boi GduBz!
Juu:
Jab pressure is love. It's not that great tbh but good to hear that you are starting to find more uses for it. Can you explain what you mean by ledge DACUS? Like you're on the ledge > ledgedash > DACUS? Or something like doing a DACUS at the edge of the stage so that you stay in place? (I'm just not sure what you are describing and would like to give it a try). Something I find extremely useful with the DACUS is to immediately do it after a down throw. If they miss the tech they get hit with the Dash attack into the upsmash. (Gatling combo? Why is it called that? Stupid brawl) Or if they tech roll you can just DACUS in whichever direction they roll. Doesn't always hit because of different chars roll lengths/weights etc but its pretty safe. Worst case scenario is that you miss but you slide far enough it shouldn't matter in most situations. Dair > jabs is awesome. I broke a shield yesterday with dair > jab x2 > short hop bair. (I realize this isn't guaranteed but unsuspecting opponents often aren't sure what do against GW shield pressure) .
Does anyone have uses for Up-Air? (Other than a juggling tool) I can't seem to fit this move into my playstyle even though quite a few people have said it's more or less essential to GWs game.

Besides juggling/Anti-air I find it useful in combos. Low knockback, low lag. It's second hit doesn't have to happen, so I find wavelanding/jump/othermove out of it works in some situations. The coolest thing about it is if you Fair instead of doing the second hit. The graphic for the U air shows up on top of GnW head and it looks like a hat. Never tested to see if the hitbox is still there, and it's only there for a few frames, but it's funny.

That's when G&W becomes the true master chef ( no hit box though). Outside of combos, Uair's best use is for platform pressure. it is also G&W's most low commitment move so it can be used in all sorts of baits and air pressure.

I already explained how all link has to do is play as lame as possible and he beats G&W for six and a half minutes. Toon Link has it even easier. He's designed for lame and had guaranteed Dthrow>UpB kills.

Lol sounds like Dakpo finally played a Link that is halfway competent. Toon Link makes me cry as Game and Watch (YL too in melee). Bomb drop > Dair. Game and Watch can do absolutely nothing about TL (or YL) edge guarding him :(
