Spirit Battles > Event Matches, in my opinion.
The only thing is that after you collect all of the spirits, fighting Spirits becomes kind of "eh".

Spirits are nothing like event matches. The goal of spirits is to emulate characters that aren't playable in Smash by kind-of copying their gimmicks into a single match. Events are just events, and they only use them in the context of playable characters.

Draw something everyday.

No matter what, only make exceptions if you're deathly sick.

Even if it's just a crappy little doodle, draw something. The more you draw the more you slowly improve, you learn things, you notice things.

But also look at tutorials, copy artists you really like, there are tons of ways to improve!
