Ya know what's the good thing about having a new NOA President...

We could ask him about localizing Mother 3, and the answer could be completely different!

"In lieu of the 800th "his body is no longer ready" joke you'll hear today about Reggie Fils-Aime retiring, let us instead celebrate that time waypoint asked a bunch of industry leads about crunch, and his was the strongest, most confident answer in the bunch. #ThankYouReggie "

"The crunch bunch"?
I'm assuming you aren't aware what crunch is, so I'll explain

Game developers get forced to work overtime meaning little to no sleep and they don't get to go home to see their families just to force the game out quicker, it's destructive and has caused many developers to break down, Rockstar's an infamous example by forcing employees to work 80 hours a week on development of Red Dead 2 iirc

Dang it.
Just saw the news that Reggie is retiring. Good for him, though. He gets more time with his family. Big congrats to Doug Bowser too. The name is quite a coincidence, too. :p

Thanks for the explanation, Gwen.

Also whilst we're joking and doing memes about him, let's not forget Reggie's response to being asked about crunch culture

"As a black man leading a japanese company"

Reggie's race is something that has literally never crossed my mind

Reggie is 57, he probs wants to spend more time with his fam
I think it also has to do with ending on a high note and not running the risk of taking on the stress of a Wii-like downward spiral after that new console smell wears off. He could have worked longer, sure, but his company is at an all-time high and there's a high likelihood that it won't stay that way as the PS5/XB2/PC platforms come back to steal the Switch's thunder. Now is like the perfect time for him to retire.

Meme Doug Bowser’s name. After all, this IS the guy that captured Mario and Luigi. In the games, and in real life!

You'll live on.

You'll live until Doug makes a new catch phrase.
“I’m gonna kidnap your girl, just like Bowser. “ -Doug Bowser

I will mourn his loss with the best video.

Off topic but I heard there were credible rumors that Microsoft isn't gonna follow up the Xbox one and rather just sell the technology to other companies, due to the fact that the Xbone is losing them money

I'm a bit sad about Reggie retiring, there could have been no better representative for Nintendo than him, he always felt like more than just some executive in a suit. It's a damn shame he never got to give us Mother 3 either, always wanted to see that happen, but hey, he's more than earned his retirement, and I like that he's doing it in peak condition.

With both him and Iwata gone, it does feel like a bit of a new Nintendo, not in terms of development or behind the scenes of course, but definitely when it comes to communication, I'd like to see Doug at least try and take up Reggie's mantle in this regard as nobody did so with Iwata (which was the right call in that situation of course). And hey, if nothing else, at least we still have Bill.

Shoot, I was gunning for Jimmy Motherbrain as a replacement, but I guess Doug Bowser will do.

With Reggie and Iwata gone, and Miyamoto's appearances decreasing, the memelords are basically down to just Bill and Sakurai. The latter of whom will probably go dark for a while after this year. I just hope new guy can meme it up like the previous memeking/pr robot, Reggie. It was an eventful tenure with the ol' Purple Pikmin.

Life is honestly not going to be the same without Reggie in Nintendo.
I am happy to see Reggie doing what he wants though.

Ehh... I'm not sure if I believe that. Xbone is no PS4, but it's not like it's bombing or anything (Well, nowhere outside Japan anyway). Don't see why they'd give up so easily.

That being said, if they were to team up with Nintendo and take on Sony...

I hope Bowser tries to be funny. Some of those Reggie skits were amazing, it'd be a shame if we never got something like that again.
