I'm surprised the only reaction I got from criticizing P5's writing was agreement considering how everyone loves it tbh

I haven't played P5, but my first criticism of every JRPG is the writing minus a very select few. I don't know if it's due to poor localization, cultural differences or my expectations, but JRPGs have never held a candle to western RPGs for me.

I turn the writer's side of my brain off when I want to enjoy a Japanese game for the story.

So I played VERY little of Corrin at the end of For's lifespan, but she still feels really good in this game. Her kill move options were hurt by the sideB sweet spot nerf and the lack of a pivotsmash, but the overall pace of Ultimate and her excellent run/air speed seem to make up for a fair bit of that.

I'm no expert but how else was she needed into oblivion? I still see her fairly often in competitive videos.

I mean I don't necessarily think the game's writing is straight "bad" it's misguided in some of the content it tries to tackle but I'll give it an A+ for having the balls to even attempt tackling some of the subject matter it does.

Game could be better. Just like any game.

So since Direct hype died down, and this probably won't be buried, what are your guy's hopes for Mario Maker 2?

For me, more power ups.

Considering I only saw the trailer once and there's a bunch happening rapidly, don't be surprised if I list anything that's already in the trailer:
-Koopalings as boss characters.
-Mega Mushrooms, and for enemies too.
-The ability to change texture maps, background, and music so you can make a cave level with desert terrain while ice world music plays.
-A night and day cycle as an option, or better yet an option to give each level a minor weather effect. Little Big Planet did something like this.
-Ice Flower, with an option to disable gravity if an enemy is frozen in mid air, or at least keep them from sinking immediately into lava for example.
-Mystery Mushroom overhauls for certain characters. For example, characters like Zelda, Ganondorf, Ike, Shulk, etc. get big!Mario's proportions. For balancing, give them the ability to jump a bit higher/farther since the small versions give Mario an extra hit while keeping his hitbox small.

That’s honestly a piping hot take.

Capitalism encourages competition for a number of different industries, which is what drives the main pillars of our economy today. We have major advancements in technology and various other areas because of the fact that competition has fueled that.

UNCHECKED capitalism is where it goes South, which is where I believe we are. Unchecked socialism is just as bad though.

There’s also the fact that there are various racial, gender, and socioeconomic issues caused because of capitalism, but going purely socialist doesn’t solve that.

Equality should come in the form of everyone having a fair shake, and having the equal opportunity to succeed and achieve their dreams. Right now we don’t have that, and pure, unchecked capitalism won’t allow for it. Some movements toward socialism might, but a system of pure socialism isn’t the answer either, in my humble opinion.

There's a reason why the only countries who practice full Socialism are China and North Korea and the USSR ended up collapsing.

Communism simply doesn't work in practice, it only works in theory.

People like to own things (especially if they earned them) and Communism runs counter to this; inevitably, the people in power stockpile all the things of value for themselves, leaving the common people with little to nothing (just look at Alexey Pajitnov, the guy who invented Tetris, he saw no royalties for his work for decades because all of that money went to the Russian government). Ask anyone who actually lived in Soviet Russia (and wasn't in a position of power) and they'll likely tell you you're a fool if you want to go back to that lifestyle.

I like the game for it's interesting mechanics and the UI. The rest is okay for me. I found the characters and settings to be memorable, but only really conceptually. Anne being afraid of everyone seeing her just for her looks could've been really interesting, but instead they just decide to make her into stupid girl archetype #562. Yusuke was the only character I found myself really liking. The actual writing is pretty ****ing bad. It's meant for adults and handles mature themes but is written like a saturday morning anime

Most of the stuff I wanted got shown in the reveal, like new enemies, on-off switches, more themes, and vertical levels.
Another thing I want which could be coming is alternate backgrounds. In the reveal we saw a blue Ghost house background, so there's a good chance.

I swear.. regardless of what GSP my character is at (from 2.4-3.3 million GSP), I always get someone that's at like... 3.4 million + GSP. And the characters I see the most are and .

Just like most creative endeavors, getting big on Youtube requires a lot of luck.

Obviously communism doesn't work, but people only want these radical shifts from the system in place in the US because it doesn't work. It is straight up broken and favors those who are excessively wealthy. There is no excuse for medication to be in a competitive marketplace. There is no excuse for healthcare in general to be anything other than free, or at the very least a lot more affordable.
