Direct was a solid 8/10 for me. Games were hype, I lost my mind for Mario and Zelda, Smash is getting big things extremely soon, Fire Emblem has my attention again, and Deltarune coming to Switch is awesome (gonna play it tonight).

Also, couldn't help but notice that claws are a weapon in Three Houses, I wonder if that will extend to unarmed combat in general.

But he also said the supposed Square rep was gonna be announced first, Pikmin 3 port and doubled down on no Link's Awakening.

Nintendo just does not know how to do DLC. Look at Injustice 2 for example, granted a smaller game then Ultimate but one that was also developed in half the time. They decided on who the DLC characters would be early. At the same time as the rest of the roster by all indication. They didn't start developing them till much later, but they started early enough that a new character was released every month for nine months following release.

They revealed that there would be DLC early, we knew for a while that there would be 9 extra characters. A week before release, they had a trailer ready showing the first 3 characters. We didn't see gameplay, it was a per-rendered cinematic. But we saw WHO they were. Then they also showed us the rest of the characters in sillouette so the community had actual fule for speculation rather than just pure conjecture. To me, this is how you do DLC. And I wish Nintendo adopted a similar strategy for Smash.

I was gonna talk negatively about the high school setting for Three Houses at first, but now that I think about it, it fits so well with Fire Emblem. People talk a bunch about it always being a war campaign, but forget that a world exists outside of the war too. In Genealogy of the Holy War, Blazing Blade, and The Sacred Stones, the main characters (Sigurd, Quan, and Eldigan; Eliwood and Hector; Ephraim, Eirika, and Lyon) talk about attending academy together, but we never get to see it. Three Houses is that academy setting, and it shows that we can have a narrative that isn't just "command my army and go to war, son".

This, in addition to the worldbuilding we've gotten from these two trailers already being superior Fates' worldbuilding, makes me excited for Three Houses.
