Not the point. You just bragged about a friendly in public. This is taboo amongst us; you should know better.

Reason being? I sandbagged my butt of during that match. The fact that you'd even have to ask me, "Dude, do you even use Nair?" says something about the effort I put into our match.

In fact, Rookie said you were incredibly easy, and he plays Fox. Certainly, me playing Marth, and possibly being amongst the best Marth players in the country, would not have trouble with such mediocre tactics.

Seriously though, I don't dislike you or anything. You were cool to hang around, etc. But when you go around doing stuff like this,

then you force me in a position where I have to defend my reputation, even if you say joking about never letting it go, you still posted the results of a friendly. Taboo.

From there, all I could basically do to save face was be honest. Logically the only thing for me to say would been, "Dude, sorry, but I have a rough idea of the top 25 players in NJ, and you're not on my list. I didn't try during our match at all, I was just reading your style in case I had to fight you in tourney, and considered the fact that you played Metaknight, but after our match determined that you weren't a threat whatsoever (I out-placed you at that tourney, I think I came in 4th or so)."

Now imagine I said that before, and now I just tacked on "Just Kidding!" to the end of my post. It doesn't mean ****.

So, instead I decided to do us both a favor and save face by just challenging you to a MM. The SMART thing to do would've been to recognize your place and just decline. Seriously dude, you should realize that you're not yet in the top 15, may not get there without serious aid and EXPERIENCE, and should not presume you'd be up there without testing your self-acclaimed skill.

Do you realize when you say, "I got better," it means nothing? EVERYONE ALWAYS gets better, unless they stop playing. Skill is a comparative term. In Pennsylvania, my skill is considered to be very great. Here in Jersey, it's pretty good. But PA and NJ have different ideas on my skill level, because our relative skill is different. The only way to test skill is to compare it to other people, and since we're talking about skill on a competative level, to see if you got better, you'd need to go to competitions. Everyone here has been going to competitions, except you. If you portrayed just a little bit of humility and logic, you;d correctly assume that EVERYONE probably got better MUCH quicker than you've been improving, because we have to keep up with each other. Considering you were already behind, that's grim news.

THEN you went and made the fatal mistake of calling out Inui on his character choice, when he's a WAY more skilled player than you in the first place. Especially not to mention you're just bandwagoning and saying that because others have said it, even though Inui was winning tourneys with Marth, and just wins more consistently because he's using a better character. Naturally, if someone wants to win, they should use the best tools at their disposal. If I wanted to win, trust me, I'd be using MK. However, my objective is to win with Marth. Perhaps someday I'll get tired of that objective, or feel as if I've taken Marth to the limit. Rest assured, if that day comes, and MK isn't banned, I'm growing wings to go with my sword.

Plus, consider the effect of your words in retrospect with your reputation. Imagine if someone YOU considered to be pretty bad (I think your crew seems to believe you're superior to the new crew whose name I refuse to call them by) posted in public that they two stocked your best player in a friendly. Wouldn't he throw up johns to save face. Even if you're friends, you force a person to reply to that in a way they might not really have wanted to, and call you out. You must have an inkling of an idea that you're not a very well respected player in Jersey. Actually, your whole crew isn't respected in Jersey. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't even back you up, because you never go anywhere. The only evidence I have of you playing, you were not spectacular, and Rookie beat you IN TOURNEY (where it counts).

To summarize this wall of text, basically, when you make outlandish statements about past friendlies to bolster your reputation, you enter a taboo zone, and you aren't going to get a positive reaction. If you had made the same statement, but you were talking about a MM, or a Tourney set, you could say, "Well, no johns," but this is not the case. Choose your words more carefully next time.

But . . . if after all of that, you still think you're a better player than me, my challenge still stands for any amount of money.

Isn't it sad that I played Meta Knight for a few weeks and defeated some of the world's absolute best players in serious tournament sets, yet you've mained him from the start and have done literally nothing worth mentioning, let alone bragging about?

For the record, I do like Meta Knight a lot. He's the most fun character in the game for me by a large amount and he was my favourite character in the Kirby games and the Kirby cartoon that used to come on when I was a kid.

I did really well with other characters, but Meta Knight is more fun and better, so I'm using him now. It's much easier for me to learn Meta Knight when I live near so many good ones. I can constantly watch and play teh_spamerer, dmbrandon, and Mew2King to learn a lot.
