Whether you think you're getting worse or not, your vids are learning experiences for me.

And the matches vs Ozz, I can learn stuff for both characters from those.

Good stuff Espy.

hahaha espy with those fsmash ledge games. They seriously work too well. Love the grab game. O I just had to ask you a quick question Espy. Does Uair (if they dodge the second hit) > aerial (fair, nair, uair) frame trap? I was testing it out with my friend and it seemed to work. Also KID pointed me to a video when vs a Gdub you did uair>nair twice and it worked flawlessly. Ive been utilizing it like crazy and it makes uthrow just plain ridiculous in conjunction.

It depends on what the character is, and when they airdodge.

But generally, yeah, if they airdodge the second hit of uair, you get a free aerial out of it.

I couldn't keep my eyes off that sword.

Hey Espy, how about a section in the OP for all the people on Youtube who have/do upload replays of Sonic? I would like to find more people who uploads replays, but I don't know everybody's YT account. :(

do you want sonic players accounts or accounts that regularly post sonic vids when they have them?

Because few people actually put up quality sonic vids consistently, and even fewer of those people main sonic.

Seriously, wut.

Type in youtube search
"[person who goes to tourneys whose videos you want] brawl sonic"

2 outcomes, either you find thier youtube account like you were looking for, or they dont have one.

I'm gonna loathe my next update.

Having to put videos in the "Old" section due to being submitted so late nearly doubles the amount of time taken to update.

The point of an archive is to chronicle as much content as I can.
I shall abide by that, despite my opinions on it.

Also, can someone find those vids of the shenanigans on Yoshi's Island Melee and Pokemon Stadium 1?
Those would be nice in the Misc. section.

Friendlies at my house yesterday. Chimp came over and we played some bawrlz. I have other matches to upload that I didn't record yet. These were the last three we played. We were most warmed up / more comfortable with the MU in those vids than the rest I have to upload.
I still have no clue how to handle diddy still :dizzy: I've played 3 of them now and I still have no clue what I'm supposed to do. I just try to copy **** from espy vs dekar, but I can't handle the bananas for crap :urg:

Also, critique plz.

Being as heavy on spin attacks you were in those matches certainly isn't going to help your case. Treat his bananas like you would any other projectile when thrown:

You're going to lose if you charge head-first into them with SDR.

Try being more grab oriented in this MU. It will certainly help you in being able to take control of his bananas, and thus, the match. I'm not saying forget about spins all-together, but cut down on that part and use it as a mix-up. I'm sure you know what I mean by that though.

Your item control could use some work too. Start throwing them in more ways the forward and back. It's not a good idea to throw them away when you can use them to your advantage. Sometimes it's best to throw the Banana down when you want to Trip Diddy and Pawnch behind him, or throw it up to pressure him the air and camp his landing on the ground. Grabbing out of the glidetoss wouldn't hurt either if the banana gets shielded. It works for Diddy, why can't it work for Sonic?

Rolling over Bananas won't help when Diddy doesn't have to commit to his defense, while you are already commiting to an offensive. This isn't even when he has a banana in his hand gnughuieaighzgyreh.

And I say grab-oriented because a good Diddy should be able to keep up a wall. Not impenetrable, but certainly a hassle to get around. Dash Attack would/should be punished with a Banana toss OoS, a Spindash Jump would more likely than not get punished with an aerial OoS, and blah blah blah. Mix-ups, mah boi.

Probably a good thing to do would be to get him in the air. Camp his landing, and make it so that he is afraid to pull bananas. The thing about a Spindash approach is that you become limited in movement, and not always can it jump at the right angle for attack, in which case Diddy will go unpunished for something that should've made him regret whatever it was he did.

Got it. I'm kinda horrified of the character after getting 2-0'd by he who shall not be named >_> diddy makes me piss myself now lmao. I used to be alright with glidetoss tricksies and such but I think I've lost my skill with em. To training mode i suppose. If I have smarter spindash/glidetoss usage, I'll probably be a lot better off.

Playing against Diddy is a FRUSTRATING game of patience and observation. Like you REALLY have to focus on how they utilize bananas, so you can adjust your approach and punishing options to the fullest. If I get ahold of the bananas, I do 1 of 3 things; throw them behind me, throw them down or glidetoss them up. Granted the main idea of these are to keep them out of Diddy's hands. Option 1: Diddy, then has to fend you off without a reliable projectile, meaning you do much more damage and put him in much more compromising situations, because Sonic can kinda do that. Option 2: You have a better chance of causing the banana to become an obstacle, which leads to openings. Option 3: Keeps the banana in play longer and you can alter Option 3 and make it Option 1.

I've still gotta find a way around Count's Diddy. Hrmm...

you actually played the matchup really well in round 3, and that was the only one i watched.

from that vid all I can say is that you need to tighten up the technical aspect of your game, I saw a fair amount of incorrect inputs. but in terms of playing the matchup, id say you did quite well. its clear that youve learned a lot from playing adhd.

i dont really see why you feel the need to be afraid of the matchup, you play it better than most sonics I watch.

also, work on your nanner trix

Wedge I can sum this up pretty easily for you, stop sucking
Loooool. LuvU2 Kiff. LuvU2.

also @ KID, yeah i do make some input errors :l i coulda had several kills and 2 stocked the SOB again if I didn't mess up my inputs. Like.. i fsmashed the wrong way 75% of the time i glidetossed > fsmash. and one time i even glidetoss > uair'd instead of fsmash. WTF? D: Isuggdatdiggalldayerryday.lululul.

that wolf match is perfect description of why a lot of people used to think Rob ***** sonic back in 08-09. they were so busy trying to run in and attack the opponent that they ran head first into every projectile and high priority move the opponent put out.

you were playing the wolf matchup like he was dk. trying to just go full force and always keep pressure on, but wolf is not dk, so you cant fight them the same way.

try being more patient, focus on powershielding the lasers and the bairs. and making your way in slowly, then once you are inside safely, then you can work on being agressive and putting pressure on.

basically your priorities are mixed up. Staying alive and not getting hit comes before killing the other guy.

MessiahFreak2000(Sonic) vs ThrillaGorilla(Diddy Dk)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA2cp9bKpQw

14 minute vid my 1st match at L.O.S.T. Please criticize to your hearts content.

Quick summary:
-1st match is against Diddy. Not used to the matchup since playing wifi over a year ago. I have the edge in regards to Thrilla not knowing the Sonic matchup but he adapts and wins.
-2nd match also against Diddy. I CP Lylat hoping that the close blastzones help my kills and low platforms for follow ups. I also semi figure out Diddy's banana's and throw him off. I take the win.
-3rd match Thrilla CP's DK and Yoshi's. I have no idea how this matchup worked and only figured it out in friendlies afterward. I suicide once in match and Thrilla takes the win.

MSF2K son, I was giving zodiac a bit of info for you while i was watching that vid (already seen it), but i don't know if he relayed any of it to you. get skype son D:< dayum.

Edit: We both agreed you need to learn your matchups. He told me you mostly wind up learning them on the spot, and that normally doesn't fly against most characters. the key to being a good sonic is knowing all his matchups. it's not like going in as MK and being able to guess what you need to do because it's similar to other matchups.

Thanks for the tips, KID. :D

I guess I was too hyped when fighting that Wolf. I never really thought of totally changing playstyles, as in from pressure to defensive. That's probably what got me last time against a, guess what, ROB lol

And I've always had problems with MK's Shuttle Loop though. I need to DI up moar I guess.

Hey Espy watched ur matches with UTDzac, good stuff! I also saw the Trela match as well. How come you dont use side b as well when u are camping?of course its not as good as iSDR but its invincibility frames on startup are enough imo. Especially against Lucario, his aerials are basically single hit sans dair and anything else you can spinshot,VSDJ, etc.

And thanks for the reply regarding the aerials. Ive been spacing uairs second hit for free aerials all day as of late. Its seriously too good. Especially due to the fact very few characters can contest uair anyways.

We had this small smashfest/tourney last nite. And I did alright, I feel im getting the MK matchup down. I took your advice KID about overcommitment, and Tyrants advice regarding escape from coin flips. Had his MK last stock last hit and i choked lol. But it was good, its been awhile since I went to tournaments. Hopefully I can get some more tourneys in and add some more good placings to our boards.

Doesnt it feel good 3 stocking an MK twice? lol stupid Meta

EDIT: Also in a part of your videos i saw u SDR>bair to send them forward instead of back. Does anyone have the timing of that down? I was doing that a bit yesterday, kills soooo much lower (obviously) especially when ppl expect the bair to hit them the other way.

Uhm, just hope that they have improper DI and sue Bair when they're in front of you?

I'm really sorry, I don't have a clue.

Oh speaking of which, I'm going to be at an anime convention all day tomorrow. I'll be uploading our videos in the meantime. Today, I just chillax. *sip tea.*
