Where people get NOTHING.
lol yeah I noticed that Chis. Look where PokemonTrainer himself goes when it happens.

Actually maybe that always happens with him :/

In our match, I was in the air when I got sent over the ceiling because of the stage flip. Squirtle is on the ground.

Rats is amazing

Updated. I've added Kojin and SS8677's videos.

Also, I'm going to make a slight modification to the Old/WiFi/New marker layout. It should get rid of the cluster**** of colors you see when scrolling through videos.

Wait, so if you're on the ground at the time Frigate switches, it's a "OH"KO?

All the more reason I always got to remember to jump instead of getting caught below on the belly of the next stage. :/

Update. I've changed the format slightly, to the 1v1 and 2v2, and added a "new" tag as well.

Oh, and I'd like to bring people's attention to these two pieces of info that have been on the first page since the beginning:

Please submit videos in this format:

-[URL to video] - Name of Sonic Player (Sonic) vs. Name of Player (Char) [Number the matches when necessary]

Ex:
Snake:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nwlke7Ekv1k&fmt=18 - Puffball (Sonic) vs. Morningstar (Snake) 3

PLEASE STATE WHETHER OR NOT THE MATCH WAS WiFi!!!
Seriously, if you put your videos in this format, then they'd get updated into the archive MUCH, MUCH faster.

Legend:
-Numbers after the title of the match indicates what match it is in the set (1, 2, 3, etc.).
-Numbers in roman numeral format indicates an entirely different set between the same people (I, II, III, etc.).
- New!!! = Videos added recently (applies to WiFi and RECENT only).
-WiFi = Videos played via WiFi connection. Since these are often taken more lightly, they are omitted the RECENT and Old labels.
-***RECENT*** = Videos added to the archive after the current checkpoint date.
-~Old~ = Videos older than the current checkpoint date (Only non-WiFi 1v1 and 2v2 videos get labeled as such).

The Current Checkpoint Date is September 1st, 2008.
New tag, and the yellow colored tag was changed.
Also, the Current Checkpoint Date is going to change to December 1st, 2008 sometime within the week (possibly today, even).

So expect the Old Sections to be boosted in numbers (and the subsequent drop in RECENT videos).

If you see ANY mistakes I've made in the new format, inform me ASAP.

-----

Oh, and any comments or suggestions for the new layout? Oh, and look at some of those N/A spaces we have (*coughcoughSoniccoughcough).

We need more videos, so upload and send everything you got this way!!!

-----

Update

I added Anthinus' Sonic Chaos combo video, and also added a video of Kojin's that wasn't ever in the archive (FThrow video).

Also, I fixed several errors.

Keep the videos coming!!!

i watched the first two.

WAYYYYYYYYYYY too much spring down air.

you are doing it to the point where its muscle memory for you to down air after you spring, which is why you pull laggy down airs sometimes. and why you killed yourself at the beginning.

Sonic and the Shooting Stars

I was in training the other day thinking about springs as edgeguarding tools (ala LuCKless), when it dawned on me that if one were high enough, a falling Dair could flow right into another aerial. So, at my smashfest this weekend, I tried this "Shooting Star" concept in practice. This video is the result and shows only SS Bairs, the hardest to time (Nair is the easiest).

Somewhat to my dismay, after discussing this video in the xat I found out that I was "too slow" and that this basic idea was utilized long ago by Boxob as "Boxdiving." However, he initiated the move differently, with a ledgehop -> spinshot. This iteration uses an "edgeguard spring" in most instances, but I also found it a natural reaction when knocked vertically.

The final clip shows SSBair > Snake Utilt. Wrecked.

My friends and I have weekly friendlies where we primarily play doubles. Our method is doing an FFA to seed and have the 1st/4th place and 2nd/3rd place players team up for a best-of-3 set (we also sometimes switch it up to odds and evens).

I uploaded a few of the shorter sets from this weekend to YouTube. Not to say that I think these are the best of the night with regard to my or my friends' performance, but these are the sets I could fit in the 10 min YouTube limit. I was very focused on adding Bairs (esp. FF, but I'd never used the C-Stick before for aerials, so I got discombobulated quite a bit and did some pretty bad Dairs) to my game so I could be like my heroes Espy and Malcolm, in addition to pivot grabs, various dashing techs, and Shooting Stars/Boxdives just to see how they'd work in practice.

I feel like the Bairs really helped my spacing and punishment potential, among other things, but I certainly need more practice with them. The dash techs, once I can do them more consistently, should prove a great addition to my game with time. And Shooting Stars, well . . . I'm not sure. They seemed good when the attention wasn't on me while setting up, at least!

Anyway, this was my first night adding a lot of new elements to my game at once, so let me know what you guys think.

Also something to consider... maybe put people videos under their own titles? as well as the characters ones. Not EVERY video (myabe just the best/recent ones), but like the lucario video thread has subsections for each player and it would help when you tell people to watch videos of [person]'s sonic here, instead of searching youtube :/

Well, then that involves breaking it up even futher obviously.

How many Sonic mains continually post vids (i.e: over time; not noobs to it/have a track record).

I know Puff, RATS, DJ, myself &3000 seem to keep em up. Malcolm, Infinzy, and a few others offer them in gobs sporadically too. So like... feasibly 10-15 dedicated player sections? Under "Tha Steak_Getahs:Getahs of Steak" section? if said players pull up a list of recent matches to showcase their talent, it could work. But Puff would pretty much need copy-paste for it: WAY to much for oneself to do alone, let alone keep up to date

Update:

The Winning Dat Steak II Thread will be updated shortly with the first round of each Category.

Also, I've added some videos that were submitted to the WDS that weren't in here, be sure to check them out if you get the chance.

Keep submitting :D

@ DJBrowny: While the idea of separating videos by player is VERY interesting, I feel that if done alone, the payout at the end doesn't make up for the work put into it.

However, I want to throw an idea at you though. Rather than have every video from a certain player, perhaps a top 5 for each player would be feasible enough...

Yea, that was what i thought.

And every 2-3 months, some sort of total overhaul (to avoid some august 08 clip being that dated you know? Have to stay fresh if theve continued to post vids...)

@DJ: Kudos at the right answer, xD
