The very next time any of my supervisors ok I a time saving methodology, I'm not going to express any relief or gratitude because when I do that they become suspicious and twice now I've ended up now being able to use the time saving technique.

I'm about to go back for my second year of college at Drake University. The thing is, I really didn't enjoy my freshman year. I was lonely, depressed, and had only a few friends (whom I didn't see nearly enough to be happy).

I considered transferring to Moorhead State University (close to Fargo, ND) this summer, but decided/got convinced to return to Drake for at least one more semester. I'm driving down on Sunday morning.

Not looking forward to it! I had a really great summer break. The moment I got back home (I live near Minneapolis) in mid-May, I shook off all the despondency and depression I had accumulated during the school year. After feeling isolated from the real world and being trapped in a tiny campus, I finally felt like I was living my own life again. Going back, knowing that I'm rarely going to leave the same 2x2 block campus for several months... it's depressing. I never had enough to do last year.

Plus, still have to figure out my classes (I'm changing a few), order my textbooks, get all my things packed... ugh! I'm going to really enjoy this summer break up until the very last day (Saturday night), but I'm afraid going back to school is going to hit me like a wall. The only consolation I have right now is the potential option of transferring to a different school come springtime if things don't get better. Oh, and I'm terrified of my new classes' difficulty and have no idea what major I want to change to (I'm undeclared).

So, that's my rant. Ciao!

Sounds like you're in a situation far too familiar to a lot of us college students. Many of us go to college and get homesick. As a result, we become depressed and don't make very many friends as a result.

You've gotta go into this semester with a more positive attitude or else you're already setting yourself up for failure and more sadness. Be thankful that you even have the opportunity to attend college. Focus on your classes, make an effort to join clubs to meet other people, and don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and attend some parties here and there because you'd be surprised with who you could meet (I met my girlfriend that I've been dating for 11 months at a random party).

Overall just stop focusing so much on the negative and just try to take advantage of the opportunities at your disposal. College is hard work but at the same time it can be a lot of fun! :D

One of my group members for this school project we have bailed at the last minute, before our presentation and term paper were due. Now me and the other guy have to cover his portion. What shenanigans.

Sitting at boyfriend's house being super delirious because we made a trip to Pittsburgh so I could see college friends and work out housing for next quarter and back to Cleveland within less than 12 hours time with little food or rest when suddenly i get a text from mom saying she hurt her toe and needs bandaids

We look for some at boyfriend's and can't find any

So I tell my mom and suddenly i get a pleasant text:
No I was desperate but forget it. It's too hard to ask u to ask someone for help

Wait
Woah woah woah

What?

Then I get home and ofc I run my mouth since I have a short fuse. But, I tried my best to keep it along the lines of how disappointed I was in her since we tried to help

'it was soooo difficult to ask for help?'

WE SPENT THE TIME LOOKING FOR BANDAGES FOR YOU

So I get yelled at and grounded from the car because my mom hurt her toe and decided to be *****

Called her a ***** though. Bad idea. But man she deserves it.

Ugh. Pissed.
(and I know I should hold my tongue. I'm just too tired to care to do so. I drove both trips today and I'm worn out)

:phone:
You do not know how many times I have always wanted to call my parents out or my mother a ***** in some situations. I feel ya girl, hopefully all will work out for the better.

I feel like I'm doing a sub-par job a work again, aside from the New Project being like something I've never worked on before, I am extremely distracted and unfocused. I feel the causes are something I should be able to fix but it's taking me longer than I had expected to do so. I hope supervisor doesn't notice my poor progress and chat with me about it. I have enough stresses already, I don't need anymore.

The internet in my house keeps going out, sometimes for hours at a time. It doesn't really seem like a big deal, until you have papers to write and presentations to prepare for school. Extra lame.

My first post in this thread, and this has probly been said before

I'm about to start my last year of college in a week. I should be stoked but I'm so nervous from feeling this impending doom that I won't find a job after graduating.

Oh then there is definitely an opportunity for you to get a job, but it is hard looking. Hopefully everything works out and you are able to find something in your field that you can have fun with.

I totally feel you there and am in the same situation. I tend to let things not bother me whatsoever, but every so often there is something really big that I can't seem to shake, and I get really anxious and dwell on it a lot.

Power went out randomly and 2 hours later it's still not back and I got work to do :/ iPhone has 40% battery left which should last 3 minutes or so.

My church had it's last mass today. I've been going since I was born every week. It just feels odd to lose something that's been a part of me all my life. There are other churches, but nothing like a home parish.

It's sad
They're closing a lot of parishes around the country
We lost 13 churches in our area
But, we found out the bishop closed em illegally and tried selling off holy items. Vatican caught em. Take that, mean bishop :<

But srsly, that sucks :(

Well wow, I had thought that today was labor day so I didn't even bother to get up to go to work. I just learned now that it isn't. Yikes. I ****ed up really royally. I'm now gonna have to call my supervisor and explain all this.

Oh, god. Someone please help me. I moved into college and I'm already terrified of meeting new people. I haven't even had a conversation with my roommate yet.

I am just unhappy, I'd rather not explain why...
Writing things out and organizing my thoughts have always been therapeutic for me. Especially if other people can read it and respond. Seeing other people relating gave me a sense that they cared, even if they don't even know me. It's like a free session with a psychologist. When I put my sad thoughts out there, I feel like all the pressure that was on me was lifted. I can't feel bad after I write all my reactions down.

Start a conversation with your roommate by saying you're terrified of meeting new people.

a roomate doesn't have to be a "wingman".

he doesn't even have to be your friend, honestly. college isn't really like movies.

my advice is find a social thing around the school that you have interest in. when you find people with similar interests and you are mutually pursuing that interest it's much easier to open up and befriend them. don't think of "meeting people" as its own task that you have to overcome. just do what you're interested in and unless you are absolutely hideous or a complete tosser in the personality department, you will meet people.

why would he say that to his roommate, itll just let his roommate know that hes insecure. Who would want an insecure wingman
So you think him getting drunk to talk to people is better? Yea, rely on a crutch so he can seem normal. Make him dependent on alcohol so he can have any sort of conversation, NO ONE WILL THINK HE'S INSECURE AT ALL!

You sound like a typical frat bro who only talks about parties and beer. REAL FUN BRO! LET'S SHOTGUN A BEER AND HOOK UP WITH SOME SORORITY ****S!

It's called RELATING to people. How do you know his roommate/other people in his dorm don't feel the same way? :glare:

Why are you afraid of meeting new people? Chances are they won't bite you. They're not insects.

Well it looks like I've already had my last drive home from work. Since I missed the first half of work today, I'm staying an hour later for the rest of the week so my ride won't be able to take me. And next weeks he starts classes(or so he claims :glare:) so he won't be able to take me then either. *sigh* gonna have to start walking home again, and on top of that it's getting colder now too.

That's just life.

This this this. Magic: The Gathering is the sole reason why I have my current large circle of friends after only two weeks of college. Shared interests rock for meeting new people.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. There's some kind of festival tonight about indian culture. This could be a good oppurtunity to meet people, but I'm honestly not interested in indian culture.

should really bring your xbox/wii snack. Alot of people in dorms bond by playing video games, especially multiplayer games like smash/mario kart/diddy kong racing
