SBing doesn't really require crouching, but I think you do that to slide just a little bit further. I don't really know though, if I ever do use SBing I don't notice. As for what you have stated, it's a good idea and can be implemented eaily.
Isn't that just the craq walk?
No. See above.

For bombsliding, turning tap jump off gets rid of the game registering the upthrow portion as a jump canceled bomb throw. With tap jump, most of the time, if you do the input too fast, the game registers it as a jump-canceled bomb throw down. Without tap jump doing that, the input can be done relatively quickly, and successfully.
. . . that's odd. It can be a jump canceled throw even if I first throw, then "jump"? This buffering system, holy smokes. . . :psycho:

Aww, but I needs my tap jump! I suppose I could turn it off for Link, but I hate switching schemes between characters.

Totally lost me lol, but whatever.
Do you have emoticons (BBCode/VBCode) disabled?

Hmm, I never thought of that. Sounds like it could be useful.
. . . Jab lock. Need to be close to the guy.
"Oh, look, there's this AT that allows you to move. I wonder what I can do with that. . ."

??!?!!?

pretty sure he means craq walking lol

Thanks so much for this guide. It really helped me out a lot, as well as defining terminology. Thanks again :}

Don't know if it was mentioned but under craq walking/pivot boosting when you talk about the end of the video you say he does a Dair when he does a Bair. Just wanted to point it out for any nub links so they don't get confused :B

EDIT -

I also have a question. having a REALLY hard time craq walking, aside from arkives videos and what you say on here, is there anything that could make a difference? Am I just tilting the direction to much, or am i doing it too early or too late, etc.?? Anything will help, thanks a bunch :p

Mindgames? The Links that I played simple spammed their projectiles and used their Shield>Grab or Sword when I approached. Not very Mindgaming, actually....

But yeah, those were pronbably just noobs l guess....

This guide has single handedly motivated me to start playing brawl. I have to admit, all the negative talk about brawl stopped me from playing it much, but with all these techniques to practice, and moves to learn... this guide makes me happy.

You must be talking about pivot boosting. Craq walking is easy. Just hold back when you land from midair. For pivot boosting, you have to think of it as tilt attacks. You move the control stick the same way you would for tilts. Just tilt back, and tilt and hold forward. Practice doing this slowly. If you move the control stick too much, you will just dash. In time you will be able to pivot boost with ease, and combining fast-falled aerials among all other things will make your Link look fast.
Pivot boost is like dash dancing, except softer on the control stick. Speaking of which, pivot boost > dash dance is pretty sweet.

the loss of pictures is due to a problem with the server where they were previously kept. That server doesn't appear to be resurrecting any time soon, so Linkspecialist took new pictures and hosted them on a different website. I could update the guide right now (MK match-up is done and other improvements have been made) but I'm going to wait a little bit longer to add more things. Thanks for your patience.

I have an idea NintenJoe, to add to the grab section. I haven't actually looked at that section, but you probably mentioned grab releases.

Anyways, I was thinking maybe some research should be done on which characters jump automatically out of grab release and which characters simply pull away. Using this, a Link player would know whether to dsmash after a grab release or to use a SH aerial. I think, but am not positive, that what the opponent presses (jump or random buttons to get away) does not matter in terms of the type of release the character has. Thoughts?

What button the opponent presses does have an effect on how a character is released (I think) and will effect whether the character will jump or simply be released from the grab. Pressing "Y" or "X" at the end of the grab will allow someone to jump away from grabs, but I think some characters (like Meta Knight) will automatically jump away from the grab. Adding this to the guide would be a good idea and I'll be sure to add it in the next update.

Version 1.2 everybody! A lot of changes, a lot of updates. Look at the Meta Knight section to get an idea of how big my match-ups are going to be. Feel free to put comments, etc.

And competitive players, I need to know what playstyle you use to I can add it to the guide! :)

O_O someone's been busy........

Amazing update NintenJoe. I applaud you. Also, really cool pictures.

Just wanted to say that if MK dthrows you, you can zair immediately (every time) to prevent him from doing it again, or following you, or whatever.

Yup the pictures are way too cool. Anyway, I'm almost at 1000 posts. That's cool. :D Does this mean I have no life or I'm really dedicated to Link and these boards? I guess it's that.

Nintenjoe, just to let you know Ftilt and Fsmash (the first and second hits) have equal priority.
A vid of the second hit vs ftilt happens in the first ten seconds here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20YMC0TFgUQ

I've also encountered several situations when fsmash (1st hit) has tied ftilt.

Just letting you know as you have priority for ftilt as medium high and fsmash as very high.

I just want to say 1. Nice Guide, and 2. Marth can cope with projectiles very well because his sword can cancel all of them out when he uses a Fair, a Jab, or an Ftilt.

Lol i was just kidding but i don't them learning our secrets... >.<
Then go learn theirs. It helps to learn every character's secrets so you know what to watch out for. As much as guide's helps mainers out with their respectful characters, it's also a open door to learn how to counter others. Of course, I think I'm taking this too seriously.
