What Ill contribute to this Metaknight discussion is that first try not f smash him until KO percent because it is a very reliable KO move in this match because of its good range, and the ability to cancel and go through several of metaknight's attacks (like the tornado). I actually killed a Metaknight player in the tournament by canceling his tornado with my f smash and he never did it again, which was good cause then I didn't have to worry about the tornado anymore.

Secondly get good with fair and bair. I believe those are the most reliable hitting moves against Meta in this match even though Meta could attack through it. I have found it to be quite reliable in testing, although I have yet to play a real good Meta with this new strategy. If Meta spaces properly getting counter hits are ridiculously difficult. Usually defense is the key in most matchups, but in this match offense is your best defense. Pressure Meta into going defensive and grab him alot. Also if you do get the tornado it is very useful, but make sure that when you use you just use it for escaping (or recovering) or hitting with 3% while going to the other side (since Meta could just D air if you stay close to him). I just find it helpful.

Thats all Im going to say for now. I hope this helped.

best is Chu, Chu beat NinjaLink 3-1 last they played (biweekly finals) he gets top 2 at his events really often now, and he beat Forte this weekend in set, Kirby vs MK, and Forte is easily one of the best MKs in the world.
That's definitely impressive. My vote goes to him, as far as I know.

Still, if I switched locations with him, and had access to top players (or even ANY players) like he does, I can't help but wonder if our skill and recognition would be switched too. :(

Midwest sucks. Nobody plays smash. Last tourney I went to had about 45 people, which you would consider small. And that was with people coming hours from out of state...from 3-4 different states.

As much as I hate it, I have to agree with you, the tourney's I went to had like.... 13-20 people in it. D: But as school starts you'll see less people though, you already know the reason, and I hear some people went back to Melee. T_T

We Midwest people need to come up with somthing, but I don't know anyone that's rich in the Midwest so I got nothing. =/

There's nothing you really CAN do about the midwest. Good players are so far and sparse (for some unknown reason, maybe it's cause people around here are hicks :D) that to get a decent congregation of players, some of them have to drive up to 3 hours or more. And even then, it's not as big as a Florida tourney that has only locals.

Ok so. Ive heard from alot of people about the rules being flawed and its really up to the community etc etc. So heres what im gonna do. Im just gonna have us all judge the top players for the only part of this ranking. Then if our minds change later on I'll just update it later.

Im taking my name off of the offline cause i missed a really important tourney and I dont feel right putting my name up there without going to it ;_;

FIRST OFF EVERY1: Chudat-Ranked number 1. DO WE ALL AGREE ON THIS???? Yes or No answers. We all play kirby here so lets get an answer on that. YES OR NO.

lol if that was the case Asdioh would be better than Chu...
*muscleflex*

What, you don't think I am? ;)

But yeah I agree for Chudat at numbawun

Here's my input: ShadowDragon and T-Nuts have both beaten me on wifi. They're both a little better, but who knows what would happen offline.

Some Kirbys that are around my skill level (that I've played): Bunny, Jtowns, Smileystation, I might think of more sometime. Again, who knows what would happen offline @_@ the world may never know.

This thread is a pain, but hopefully we can decide a general top 5 soon and be done XD honorable mentions might be necessary to sate the thirst for glory of some

I <3 my sig

Alright, ChuDat is number 1. If you wanna debate this, feel free to here so we can all talk about it. Next, candidates for rank 2 and 3. My personal thoughts for number 2 is t1mmy or GeorgeTHPS.

Whats every1 else's thoughts? Who do yall think would fit the number 2 spot?

Also, rank 1 online: I'm in a conflict between SD, ron(aka Mr. Carter) and T-nuts. Who do yall think would fit this best?

Ive only ever played SD, he actually helped me improve my game a lot through that session and videos I then looked up, so he definitely deserves a spot up there. But, I will check out the others.

Also, t!mmy deserves a spot up there on the offline section.

fanboi.

But...I really don't know who would go in the other 4 spots. I'm sure T!mmy would be in the top 3 or 4, and I've seen a couple of George's vids and he's really good, but I don't know exactly how good comparatively. D:

I like how the only offline vids people bothered recording for me...are me losing.

cry"s in corner... ok i will take that off my sig... so how do i get ranked i to go to tourny's?
Yup, go to tourney's and hope there are some good people there. send in the results once u've placed top 3 a couple times. Remember that quality and quantity of opponents matter. If its a local scrub tourney obviously that matters less than say a C3 or Critical Hit Tourney where the best smashers usually attend. So just go to the ones u can go to

1. Chudat, no fanboyism. I just dare any other kirby player to step up and tell me that he's better than chu while keeping a straight face.

2. Gonzo, he ahs meant a lot to the community. although his combo's weren't too hard to be figured he just happend to figure them out and in that way gave the community a good boost.

3. T!mmy, He has the best playstyle after chu. Very variated and fast. Which is cool. I put gonzo over him because of the innovations he made for Kirby.

Except those three I haven't seen a kirby that has either meant a lot to the community or ahs really surprised me with good matches. You could say that everyone else is average. Although I haven't seen some.

Just my 2 cents

EDIT: who si this George THPS? vids?

That's my top 2. I know everyone says timmy is god but the last vid I've seen from him is like 4 months ago. Or is metaknight.

EDIT2: hey timmy has new vids. How nice. Hmm gotta make up my mind,
Look at the video threads more often. Also look at youtube profiles of kirby players and look at alot of vids. That will get you updated on people's skill levels here. And do what I do from time to time: just type in Kirby brawl and watch vids of people playing. I watch at least 5 or so a day so i can see for myself and comment on things without being too inaccurate about it. Also being there in person is a good plus too ^_^

T1mmy is probably better than i am. Although i'm a more aggressive player who uses more of Kirby's Gay tricks to get wins T1mmy plays a more mixed playstyle from what i've seen so he more able to adapt to different opponents. As soon as i meet a campy opponent i usually get a55 ***** lol T1mmy i nominate for #2

What we really need is for everyone to play against the same person and c who does best. lol although that would never happen

What makes you think I don't? I even think I did watch timmy's before bt forgot. Don't think I'm a scrub that just goes by how many times th e name's being said. I mostly know what I'm talking about. After finding the timmy vids I'd probably put timy in 2nd or 3rd. Because he switches from offensive to defensive to campy in a split second. Which for most players is hard to do.

Gonzo. I Didn't only nominate you on skills. Sorry to say but on skills you would've just barely made it in my top 5 :) what puts you in second for me is your revolutionizing of kirby through the grab combo's. It really made kirby a good deal stronger.

Gonzo didn't invent the grab combos he was just the 1st person to make videos. Multiple Florida kirbies were doing the grab combo the week after Brawl came out. But yah Gonzo seems like a good kid since he genuinely seems to wanna help out the Kirby community.

But as for the top 5, it should be based on tournament rankings. Chu is obviously #1 because hes been doing great in tourneys. Aside from Chu i haven't any convincing Kirby placings. So I think 2-5 is pritty wide open.

Seibrik used to place top 5 in most Florida tourneys but he doesn't play Kirby anymore.

I've placed 5th-17th in all my Florida tourneys but I dunno If I've played in enough to be put in top 5.

Didn't some Kirby get 5th at 1 of the big Texas tourneys? Was that the only tourney he placed well at or has he been doing well in all of them?

I think I also saw some Canadian guy get top 3 in a pritty big tourney.

Those are the only noticeable Kirby placings aside from Chu that I've seen.

Perhaps the Kirby boards should have a tourney placing thread like most other character boards do.

Columbus didn't discover America I'm pretty sure there were some natives there that new that it was there before. It's not about wo really discovered it. It's about who reported it he gets the kudos and the fame. In this case it's gonzo.

Lol that kirby is me...and uh...ive gotten...5th at one of the older HOBOS...7th...then 5th at the second to last biggest Texas tourney(HOBO 10)...i didnt enter HOBO 11...basically i havent placed below 7th but ive only been to 3 big tourneys so yeah..

edit: I only used Kirby at HOBO 9 (1 tourney match)and HOBO 10 (Kirby the whole way :))...

Here's my post to put everyone's thoughts in perspective.

Chudat gets the top spot because of his tournament accomplishments. I don't care how good people are, it really does come down to performance.

I'm giving myself the number two spot, and I'm being neither modest nor overconfident. I've never seen a better Kirby here on the West Coast, and have also been told so by prominent playes from each WC state.

After this, I really don't have much to contribute since my scope has been restricted to the West Coast. I haven't seen anyone from other big areas such as Texas, Florida, Virginia, New York, etc. And if I'm saying it's difficult comparing and ranking every player from all over, I remind everyone here to reflect on what authority they have on such matters.

Rating players within your own area is fine, in fact I enjoy hearing about Kirby players in other regions. But saying things like "So and so is great here in _____ so he must be one of the best" is stretching it. Worse yet is "I'm good online, so I'm one of the best." I'm not pointing at anyone in particular, just sort of want to make sure everyone is aware of these things.

Also, Gonzo, you have a done a good deal of work spreading knowledge to the community. I'm grateful for that because a lot of people got to see things in your video they otherwise wouldn't have seen. This however is not an automatic indication of skill. I think you have some talent, but I see you still have a long way to go. In one thread you mention that you didn't even have mastery of DI - this is a very fundamental part of gameplay. It is also something I hear new players - players who weren't playing Melee competitvely for years - having questions with.

Because of this, I hope you don't take it too hard that I didn't put you on my list of top Kirby players. I see plenty of Kirby players who have a more solid foundation of experience from years of competitive play that put them higher up.

Speaking of experienced Kirby players, some West Coast nominees include: DRGN, KoSK, and TwilightKirby. I haven't seen anything by Nashun yet, but I'm definitly going to mention him anyway because of what I know of his Kirby in Melee. Also, I think JLB might have given up Brawl (I heard he plays Soul Calibur now?)

oh never mind.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to complain (again) about the fact that I don't even know ONE PERSON in my city who is halfway decent at brawl. The one guy I did meet (thanks to regional section on this site) recently moved to Phoenix, Arizona. :|

I should like, go to bars even though I'm 19, and ask people there if they brawl.

Well ****, lol I do remember mentioning having trouble with the DI in brawl and i didnt even DI in melee although i didnt play melee competitively i did know what it was. I think i've come a long ways since then. Im a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like brawl so even the slightest miss timing irks me. Hence i aim pretty much for perfect DI when i get hit and i try to powershield everytime i get hit. The prob is till its perfect i dont consider myself good at it. Its all or nothing. My DI is where i want it to be now and the powershielding the rest thats left is just experience. No substitute for that other than going to tourneys. Ill continue to post vids when i get them so as not to be speaking empty words and the combo vids were more for my local area brawlers than for everyone. I didnt realize it would become the go to video :p I'll try and make a more overall go to video months or maybe a year from now who knows.

Ok. WOW. So....t1mmy seems to have strong feelings about being number 2. And it seems so far that no1 wants to argue or debate the spot. I also think hes an incredible player with alot of experience and has helped out pretty much all of us when and since the game first came out. IMO, i dont have a problem with his feelings and thoughts with him being ranked second. But its not up to me by myself to decide. With that said: t1mmy for rank 2--Yes or No? And if no, talk about it a bit. :)
