Hey, Zinith Zinith , speaking of that image you posted, remember this commercial from the 90s for the game?

Actually no, at least at the time. We didn't get cable television until like 97 or 98, so I mainly watched movies.

Glad I didn't remember that though. The 2002 GBA Yoshi's Island commercial is in my eyes the definitive Yoshi commercial

Yeah, and the commercial you posted was much cuter, too.

Talking of Disney VHSs...I don't think there's a more late 70s/early 80s image in existence than this

Now I'm thinking of when I went through that phase where I wanted to travel through time and make Disney release Total Drama Island in 1979 and change animation as we know it...kid me really liked Total Drama idk

As James Gunn puts it.

And that's what exactly Guardians 3 delivered unlike most MCU films as of late.

The DC movies are definitely in good hands.
I mean yeah, he’s gonna do fine.

But nothing will ever topple Disney’s movie industry. The theme parks could go down if things keep spiraling downward, but their other ventures are pretty safe because they have all the money in the world to support an infinite number of failures.

At the end of the day, regardless of quality, marvel will still make money, Star Wars will make money, and every Disney animated film will rake in cash. No one can reasonably threaten their money.

So uh, I got something to say

I never played BotW, and the game doesn't super appeal to me either.

I love Zelda, and I like open world games, but BotW just doesn't 'feel' like Zelda, IMO at least.

Hot take, I know.
Say this in the wrong place and you're gonna get shot

I have played BotW and I gotta say out of all the major Zelda's I played it's one of my least favorites. I'll put it above Zelda 1 and 2 but I'd take LTTP, WW, and MC above it.

When the drastic changes are enough to make the game have a massively different feel to it (some people may or may not enjoy this)

Also wow Chris Hackney's in this game, here I was thinking the best performance was gonna undeniably by a white guy voicing the Not Arabic dude people refuse to stop thirsting for

Yeah I don't like BOTW that much, I played it a year after the switch launched and I played some more of it recently because I am not immune to TOTK Hype and I just found it kinda boring and It did not feel like Zelda. I really dislike the Divine Beasts and Shrines.

Also Thunderblight Ganon is one of the worst boss fights I've gone against in a long while.

I support this take even though I have no stake in the Zelda race. Change and innovation is good. But a series should still feel like itself.

It kinda feels like we're at the point where the actual hot take is that you prefer BOTW. I see people saying what you said all the time and nobody really stands up to defend it.

BotW honestly still felt like a Zelda game to me.

The only change that really stood out to me as a negative was the lack of...well, normal dungeons.
As someone who’s binged every episode of The Completionist and watched Arlo’s Big Fat Review of the game 50 times despite having no interest in the game (I like to listen to Arlo talk about something he likes), I can see how some people would have an issue with the lack of many traditional items as well.

I think we've gotten to the point where people either like the game or they don't.

For as much as I enjoy the game, it's different enough from most prior games in the series that I can understand why it won't appeal to everyone, including some longtime fans.

Honestly, that's not really an issue for me, either. We've still got bows and arrows, a new iteration of bombs, the runes are creative and are actually used a lot unlike some creative but sadly underused items from past games (the Spinner and Dominion Rod from TP are the worst offenders of this) and the weapon variety and sheer creativity you can have with runes makes up for some other missing items, imo.

That being said, I really wish they had kept the Hookshot rune in.

When I was making my rework of Link’s smash moveset that spinner showed up on so many “top 10 items” lists it’s not even funny.

Dungeons, items, enemies.

BotW has the Divine Beasts and Shrines, but I just miss the classic dungeons.

Honestly, no Hookshot in a modern Zelda just feels.....wrong. I get why they didn't include it, but, the Hookshot is right up there alongside the Bow and Boomerang.

And I don't think enemy variety is much of a hot take. I can count the amount of enemies BotW has on two hands, not counting bosses. Sure, there's alternate varieties and Stal versions of a lot of them, but Zelda has some really iconic enemies, and there's just barely any.

Age of Calamity slots into a very high "Good" but would be in "Fantastic" if y'know, we actually got the Halo Reach Lone Wolf style ending and shifted the stuff we got to a separate "What if?" Scenario.

I kinda see the "it doesn't feel like a Zelda game" argument but I think if you view it as more of a successor to Zelda 1 then to Ocarina of Time then it makes a lot more sense. Zelda games have become increasingly linear from the start so BotW is almost a return to form of sorts.

I still miss some of the staples like dungeon items though.
