Just saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Meh, When it wasn't weirdly paced it was just going through the legacy sequel checklist (I can't tell if it was actively trying to parody legacy sequel tropes or not), pretty inessential.

I did like how it looked though, it had actual color and even practical effects. Michael Keaton was also just as good as he was back in the original. Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega were also good.

Also listen to the Beetlejuice musical.

I was beyond caught off guard by these massive ass inages
teehee they did turn out bigger than I thought they would

tbh Smashboards won’t let me upload nearly any pic except for random screenshots that don’t have lots of colors in it.

What if:
The year is 2033
The sixth and final Sonic movie has just released
The climax is Sonic, Shadow, and Silver going super to defeat Solaris and save the timeline
An even more epic mix of His World plays
It’s the coolest **** in the world
Everyone loves Sonic 6

After nearly 30 years Sonic 06 has finally been redeemed
And when they eliminate Solaris from the timeline the final scene is just the opening cut-scene of Sonic 1 in Sonic Origins.

Have been a Transformers fan since watching TFP in 2015. Also got Transformers One for Christmas.

After week 2, the world wide numbers are in. Mufasa, a spinoff (lmao) of Lion King , has defeated Sonic 3.

At least Sonic 3 is winning on the Domestic front.

Regardless of money made I'm almost certain Sonic 3 is the better movie.

Also we as a society need to be collectively deprogrammed so we stop measuring a movie's worth on how much money it makes.

It may be all that matters to the studio but it shouldn't be what matters at all to us.

Everyone seems big on Mufasa vs Sonic 3 so I thought I'd make a roster for it.

People seem keen on keeping the Sonic 3 post credits a spoiler so I made the roster without them.

You wouldn’t understand the struggles of modern Sonic and Disney fans old man…wait I’m also old **** nvm
Once you realize that none of this matters, it becomes so much easier to not care. Though not impossible, and sometimes I fall back into old habits…

I’m describing battling an addiction… god we all need therapy

I mean both are movies about animals and their dead families so obviously they're the same and should have a rivalry
Sonic 3 and Mufasa confronting each other at the box office, circa 2024, colorized:

Couldn't find an image that also captions the Dalek's "we are the same" line from this scene.

my office, probably
I was fairly happy when it seemed like Sonic 3 was beating Mufasa at the box office but now that it's not? Oh well. Not like I can do anything about it. Always seemed far fetched for it to beat a Disney movie and the fact that it ever had a leg up is impressive on its own.

I have other sources to draw my happiness from anyways

Between Boom, IDW, and Frontiers, Amy’s been drastically improving her relationship style

Rest of her was already great anyways (tho I need her Boom fit to become her main gear)
tbh I always wanted to like Amy (though I never actively disliked her) and I feel like how Ian Flynn writes her strikes a perfect balance. She still has a crush on Sonic but it's not her entire personality, which means she and Sonic actually get to have a dynamic where it doesn't feel like Sonic doesn't want around and on top of that, she's also a good leader and a kind soul. I like that.

But some people in the fandom seem to not like that she doesn't harass Sonic 24/7 anymore so idk

Somewhere out there on this big blue marble
I see Disney magically summoned 110920 unnamed moms to dethrone Sonic 3, damn
Because more buttons means you can do more things with the controller.

Plus no more having to use the right bracket and trigger for fighting games.
I don't entirely agree for the former as we've had 8 buttons total for the past 30 years of gaming and the only console to have 6 face buttons was the Saturn, which they downsized to 4 with the Dreamcast. While the Saturn clearly didn't flop for having 6 face buttons, it does feel like the downsizing to 4
was done for a reason, with 4 face buttons to tie actions to beinf enough without overwhelming players

Tbf this depends on the fighting game entirely as we have 4 or 5 button fighters out there

But some people in the fandom seem to not like that she doesn't harass Sonic 24/7 anymore so idk
That's because Sonic fans are never happy, we hated how Amy was 70% gaga for Sonic and then Boom came out and people were actually happy with her being more than just 'in love with Sonic' and then they kept doing that but suddenly it's bad for what I assume is because she's a lot less energetic in the past decade compared to when she was getting flanderized which fair enough, modern Amy did have less spunk though the recent IDW comics and Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog has managed to find a nice balance there. Then right wing grifters tried to bemoan that Amy doesn't hug Sonic in the Gens remaster and how one line about flirting was removed which is censoring the traditional family values of manly men hating their ***** wife despite Amy still flirting with Sonic wjen you talk to her but that grift failed because nobody actually cared about that or about Rouge's model being slightly changed to the point you can't tell

2013:
"Man, Rayman Legends was so great, even better than Origins! I can't wait for the last game in the new Rayman trilogy!"

2014:
"Man, Tropical Freeze was so great, even better than Returns! I can't wait for the last game in the new DK trilogy!"

Twice I was a fool :drsad:
Maybe stop assuming everything will be a trilogy.

It’s less about arbitrarily wanting trilogies and more about how in both cases a classic series got revived with some amazing new games that promise a great future for the franchise, only for each studio to just…stop.
That makes more sense.

The main problem with Mufasa is the fact they made the titular character into an orphan adopted through royalty rather than birth.

As well as making him and Scar adoptive brothers rather than birth siblings. The fact they turned Scar into a sympathetic villain that had everything taken away from him since Scar was considered one of the most evil Disney villains considering he killed his own brother in cold blood without a second thought.

So sick of this sympathetic villain crap and especially to turn one of Disney's most evil remorseless ones into another like they did with Maleficrnt irks me.

High Evolutionary and Dr. Gerald were such a nice breath of fresh air.

Watch Disney now make a Little Mermaid or Snow White prequel, better yet Aladdin prequel that puts Ursula, Evil Queen or Jafar in a sympathetic light. Gotta make every Disney villain sympathetic at this point apparently.

What’s “better” is subjective. That’s kinda boring imo. I prefer objective truths. Mufasa has beaten Sonic so far. Money>ratings to businesses. Money gets more films made. That kind of thing is more interesting to me. I get that it’s not for everyone.

As someone who works in the criminal justice system, I get to see that most (but not all) crimes are from a person who has have some serious issues by way of really unfortunate experience via bad situations or bad people. They are a sympathetic villain. This adds a level of complexity to their crime, their personality and how I can help or hold them accountable. I love seeing that in films as it’s much more realistic than the old school low skill low IQ mustache twirling villains who want world domination or some other Giga shallow goal.

edit: high evolutionary was bad ass. Not for his shallow goals but for his savagery (both in animal cruelty and his demeanor).

Are you Implying Dr. Gerald is low IQ?

I'd say Scar too but for all his cunning, he wasn't exactly tge brightest with his decisions such as letting the hyenas deal with Simba rather than taking it care of himself. There was no one around, no witnesses, he could have suffocated Simba when fake comforting him in his arms. There would've been little chance Simba could have fought back since he was a cub at the time while Scar was a full-grown lion.

But being a Disney movie, plot armor obviously had Scar not doing so as the plot demanded it for the hero to eventually win.

Also irredeemable villains can be complex. I've seen it. Frollo for ex. but given this trend, I won't be surprised of a Frollo villain origin movie putting him in a sympathetic light with Disney being Disney.

Y'all talking about villains? Well no better time to once again recommend Miraculous Ladybug, home of perhaps the finest rogues gallery in all of fiction.

You've got it all: deep and complex villains at one end, simply nasty irredeemable meanies at the other, plus a smorgasboard of humorous once-an-episode baddies with all manner of powers from the hilarious to the terrifying to the both.

As someone whose favorite character ever is a villain, though a lot of my visions for her (and her friends) make her not so villainous, MLB has the absolute best villains in anything I've seen and some of the best villains ever made in animation.

Amen. Hate how people says irredeemable villains can't be complex. As well we seen it with Frolli. Still waiting though fir Disney to probably make him sympathetic in the live action hunchback or villain origin movie like Maleficent or prequel because Disney no longer knows how to write anymore...

A very interesting contrast between the domestic, international and worldwide box office numbers.

Then again, it is no surprise to me that Mufasa is doing well internationally as well as getting decent numbers domestically too.

On the other hand it is great to see Sonic 3 doing well domestically in which I could pretty much imagine it may have some legs going in to next month even though its international numbers are not quite as big in contrast to Mufasa's numbers.

But other than that, these are still great numbers and this is good for theaters.

I've watched Transformers One and I actually feel its the one of the best films the franchise had delivered. It is still a shame that Paramount did not do enough marketing for the film.

More non sequels, remakes and reboots release than sequels, remakes and reboots. I’m 99% certain this has been the case every year since the 1920s. You only hear about about sequels, remakes and reboots because the media (both traditional and digital) tells you.

It’s highly likely the Switch 2 will have usb-a. If so, you can use wired controllers. Afterall, Nintendo found a way to let us use GCN controllers for 4 generations straight.

Tbf, Mufasa has a much higher budget of $200M whereas Sonic 3 has a budget of like $125M, so Sonic 3 will be more profitable in the end.

I've finally received the Star Wars graphic novel that I've been wanting.

It's called "The Star Wars" which is an adaptation of an early rough draft for A New Hope.

It's going to be real interesting to see what Star Wars could've been.
