Curious question? Anyone think Top Gun: Maverick will be topped?

Only one I could potentially see is Avatar 2.

I'd say Black Panther: Wakanda Forever if Doctor Strange 2 and Thor 4 couldn't then what chances would that have? Especially given the film just surpassed the first Black Panther in the domestic box office.

If not Avatar 2, its likely Top Gun: Maverick might be this years highest-grossing film.

Um, just curious: I know the first Avatar was great, but what makes you think it could top Top Gun: Maverick?

Avatar 2 will definitely beat Top Gun Maverick globally, making somewhere between 1.5 to 2.5 billion dollars (probably not beating Endgame or the original, ending up at #3). I don't think A2 will dethrone Maverick's domestic total though. On the other hand I think Wakanda Forever, if it ends up being good, has a very solid chance at beating TGM domestically, though probably not beating it globally.

Woke up in the middle of the night so I have no filters, so I'm gonna drop a hot take.

I legitimately don't know why people care about box office performances, especially not to this degree. A movie making a buck at the box office means jack **** for its quality, if anything a lot of box office hits get completely forgotten, and you don't need to look any further than the highest grossing movie of all time, Avatar, to see that I'm right. I feel like the only time it comes up at all is when people talk about how forgertable it was.

To me, box office numbers just serve to reaffirm how ****ed the entertainment industry is, because 99% of the time it's Disney leading the charge, which is owed in no small part to their monopoly. And even when it's not, original IPs rarely get very far ahead, it's always either reboots or other comic book movies. The only exception I can think of, ironically, is the aforementioned Avatar which again, no one ever talks about.

So yeah, I don't get why people make such a huge deal out of box office numbers. Especially Marvel fans, I think it would be more interesting to see a MCU movie fail to make it's budget rather than succeed, because they always suceed, and due to the oversaturation I frankly don't think we're too far from when it starts happening.

Personally, I don't care about box office performances as well. In the end, movies are just forms of entertainment. What matters to me is if the movie is good. I am not really interested in numbers from the box office.

I don't think box office success really means anything, I just think it's kinda fun to predict how well movies do. It's like fantasy football but for nerds.

Bro, I literally forgot about the S/V multiplayer feature.

Okay, so…

Who wants to be my designated Violet buddy so I can hop into your game and catch the version exclusives I want?

I'd say I would but a. I'm still not 100% sure I'm getting Violet, and b. We live in completely different timezones

Bullet Train was really fun. The comedy was hilarious, the action was great, it was a great time.
Ditto on this. Definitely in my top 5 this year for sure.

Will go down as a modern classic as Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2, John Wick films, and Joker.
Top Gun is the most generic film I’ve seen in a while. I don’t get the hype at all.
Have you ever seen the first one? Just curious is all.

No offense but if it requires you to have seen the first one then it's not "nostalgia done right" as you've previously claimed
Jeez man. I was just curious if he had seen the first one was all...Hear what he thought of that one regardless of disliking it or not.

I do have just one fairly minor concern for Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, and that's the difficulty curve. A lot of open world games struggle with those and Pokemon doesn't always have great ones either.

Legends Arceus had good challenge, but that wasn't fully open and it had an unforgiving combat system that increased the difficulty.

Ah well...if things start getting too easy, I suppose I could just rotate out my team. Lean into the sandbox elements of open world.

Nah, it was a good thirty years before my time :drshrug:

I intend to use more than the standard six Pokemon this time around. The game looks too big for me to not have an extended team.

Looks like Roy from Smash Bros is finally getting a figure alongside one of his many love interests: Lilina. According to the Twitter account, it's being made to tie into FE6's 20th Anniversary this year.

I like the quality of the figures but I am kind of bummed they're made to be a set. The individual bases they stand on are clearly meant to be locked together. Am definitely interested in Roy, if only because of Smash, but I'd really rather not mess with the completionist in me given they both cost around $160 each. An Alm & Celica set though, that's a different story...

Would recommend keeping an eye on Amazon JP to see if they show up there for those interested. Buying direct from Japan is much cheaper than whole sellers, and the US Dollar is the strongest its been in years against the Yen.

IDK, if I want a Pokemans to be hard, I usually just nuzlocke it. I usually don’t mind the difficulty curve being easy because of that: Pokemon games are pretty flexible in challenge if you play challenge runs. :drshrug:
It's not so much that I want the game to be outright hard, just challenging enough that I don't get bored on my first playthrough. Make me use at leaat 2% of my brain power and reward me for actually using status moves.

I think these games could probably afford to be a little tougher then usual, since you could always just go around an obstacle or use auto battle. But I also understand the folks at Gamefreak might have other ideas.
