We already know gyms aren’t bleached off. We seen every gym leaders building on the map.

We know from this trailer, our job is to go out and find them, and bring them back to their gyms or victory road( but I think this is the name of the story, not where greeta Actually was) and fight them.
then why.... I just don't get it. Why not just have the gyms be in blocked off places then. Having the gym leaders be in blocked off places is gonna force you to do things in a certain order.

Tied to the narrative with certain areas blocked off until they are relevant or you get an upgrade
So lets look at the other end: Have you played BoTW? You can do whatever, just go to the final boss right away. But if you don't complete the main quests, the game gets significantly harder since you will lack good equipment and will not get the champions powers which help immensly. By deciding ti take the tine to do the story and shrines, not only do you unlock much bettee equipment, but get this, you get rewarded with the story as well. You can have both

Not necessarily. Example,

Nemona says go you want.

From the looks of things Greeta tells you to go out and find whatever gym leader you want and bring them back. She’s the chairman of the league and likely monitors official gym battles. So bringing the leader to her at your own leisure is probably how the victory road path goes.

You can fight a leader whenever you want, you just have to go out there and get them yourself. That means the gyms aren’t road blocked, they still will require other ways to get to them, and you can do them any order.

It’s not that complicated of a process.

Also going by the first trailer, the car is spotted in a totally different place on the map then Melva’s area.

My guess is Team Star have crews for the starter types or even every type and will act as random roadblocks in different sections. Leading to you fighting through their camps and beating the leader in what’s basically a psudeo gym.

Could make for a fun objective as you play through the game.

Ok... but how can that lead to any sort of interesting story? It still can only be that what happens with a gym leader only relates to the gym leader. Otherwise you'd have to do them in a certain order. They can't flow one into the other with narrative progression.

Literally nothing stops them from showing up in other leaders stories.

The game can just lock your actions on a set story path once you reach a certain leaders area. Then you can’t do the other leaders stories unless you finish the first one you chose. This allows any character to show up at any point in time during these.

To be fair this is Pokemon were talking about.

Something tells me they didn't think this far ahead

Probably, but there’s definitely some way that it all works together, and I imagine they must have done something right if the leaks said story was good this time.
