Tbf it sounds like that thing that upset Snake that one time really was rooted in deeply transmisogynistic tropes, even if it tried to put a wholesome twist in them. It just seems...really messy.

But I haven't actually played the game so idk.
It's a fair assessment, Catherine was already under fire for poor handling of Erica before the Full Body version came out, game as a whole was always about messy relationships so I can't blame people for being upset at how it handles certain things

Smiling Friends discourse on Twitter because people are arguing if the rotoscoped scenes in the latest episode are AI or not.

So it's yes and no. The animation's key frames and mocap/movement were created by a human. Things like in the between frames and interlopation were done in AI. Having them manually sketch out every single frame of the human movement would be very repetitive, and frankly not very time savvy, so AI takes key frames and poses from different angles and such and then traces over the human movement based in it's own interpretation. A human is still very much involved with the process, in fact even when the AI is done rotoscoping, the human has to go and fix any blemishes that were made or missed by the AI, in Smiling Friends case the animator very obviously didn't.

TLDR; it's AI but not the way people think. This technique has been here for years.

Tech Bros and companies will pay for what how they changed AI for the general public.
Doug's hands were glitching out a lot, so yeah, it makes sense it was AI.

No but seriously, do these people not know who Joel Haver is? He's been using the same crude rotoscoping filter for years, before AI blew up and he played a character on Smiling Friends.

This is a perfect example of how AI can actually be used as a tool to help people with processes like animation, instead of just being used by corporations as a "make (garbage tier) art dirt cheap" shortcut.

The problem too many are using it for just that, or are at least trying to, result in an justified push back, but like you said, their use of it has also sadly had a negative impact on AI's reputation as well.
It's the fact that people have zero idea what AI actually is. AI is basically a buzzword that tech bros/companies use for virturally anything, but there are several different types of AI that can exists. Nowadays everyone thinks of Generative AI (art, music, videos) is AI as a whole, but no majority of AI can be used for good (object recognition, speech help and translation, image searching, accesibility features, etc), and in this case, generating time consuming frames of animation based on art and keyframes (Spiderverse did this too btw).

Also it hit me this technically is generative AI since it generates frames of animation but you know, it's not the one people think of.

Y'all remember those Mario spinoffs that crossed over with Squenix properties? Like the basketball games, and Fortune Street?

That was an era that existed. Bring it back
Ah yes, Fortune Street.

The game where Mario and Dragon Quest characters face off in the hardest battle yet: The Stock Market.

Also the game where Yoshi mentions wanting to avoid his taxes.

Zippo's "leak" on a Star Fox Assault remaster and future Star Fox series plans sounds ridiculously fake and screams way too good to be true.

Here it is if you're curious
Zippo has been so horribly wrong on everything that as soon as he beefed with Midori she started getting ****ing sponsored by the companies she was leaking **** from

Twitter messing up for anyone else at the moment? Summer of Gaming starts tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. Or how Microsoft will try to BS more reasons why they shut down studios that released successful games or games studios didn't want to make because they knew it wasn't in their wheelhouse. Or how they'll probably boost up Game Pass' price so that they can cover some of the money spent to soften the blow even slightly from spending billions of dollars on Activision when they only really wanted the Candy Crush money form the mobile game division via King.

I imagine Dewrito Pope himself will likely brush off the lay-offs going on in the industry right now(let alone others, but this is gaming specific event wise).

Anyways, here's the link to my new drawing. It's Mr.Fantastic. Again, I dunno why Twitter is messed up for me, but it is.

Can someone in the loop explain to me why PAW Patrol gets a sizable amount of hate?

It isn't hated on the level of Dora or something but I see it get a SHOCKING amount of hate, when it always seemed pretty harmless from an outside view.

Because those class traitor pigs are not seeing the light of heaven.

Or because it's a children's show made after we grew up meaning it has no value as our nostalgia is all that is needed to determine quality so we irrationally hate what those darn kids like.

But mostly because ACAB

I need Mario, Luigi, and Peach back in a new NBA game (since the Street series is dead) and Link to appear in another fighting game

Oh yeah, true. Since it was made after the times of more acclaimed shows like Blue's Clues, it's kind of stuck in their shadow. In general a lot of more modern preschool shows that aren't named Bluey tend to get beat on a lot, when a vast majority of them are harmless at worst or an actual all-time great at best (yes I'm still a Puppy Dog Pals activist).

And with the whole ACAB stuff, I saw people hating on it even BEFORE ACAB started catching on, which is why I was curious - though when it did catch on, PP's reputation only took a turn for the worse.

Anyway watch Puppy Dog Pals. Did I mention watch Puppy Dog Pals?

As a mature adult male I only watch cartoons meant for 10 year olds, thank you very much.
To be honest, PDP is a show that could probably fit just as well on Disney Channel proper as it does on Disney Junior. With its wit, characters, format and sheer level of coincidences, it kinda feels like a canine version of Phineas and Ferb, but with a changing status quo and lots of new characters. Disney just slammed it on their preschool channel because they wanted that PAW Patrol money

Anyway are they actually remaking Yooka-Laylee? You guys are right that it feels early, but I am not complaining at all, that game is beyond based

With a few exceptions, a lot of kids' shows tend to get a lot of hate from teens and young adults because they find a show that wasn't made for their demographic annoying (shocker) and have nothing better to do than try to stir up arguments about it or otherwise think that viciously insulting edutainment shows for young kids makes them funny.

I never even understood why Dora was so hated back in the late 2000s/early 2010s. My best is guess is that a lot of people just grew up with younger siblings who watched it all the time and got sick of it as a result.
