So, Pikmin 4 colors have their own advantages. However, you can only take three types into the field. I can work with it. All types might still be able to carry a bomb rock.
Color pros and cons
Red: resistant to all heat and strong fighters with 1.3 multiplier. Standard must have pikmin, but cannot swim. (Most types excluding blue and the new ice pikmin)
Yellow: can go higher thanks to their ears, electricity resistant and excellent diggers. Aren't powerful fighters due to being lighter.
Blue: excellent swimmers and can fight underwater since they can breathe. Also, can save drowning pikmin if idle in water. 2nd best fighter if reds and other types are not around.
Ice: New type can freeze things after sticking around for a while. They cannot drown in water since their body allow them to float and instead freeze it with enough pikmin. Should one get eaten, it will freeze the enemy if they cannot resist it. Since the enemy is frozen, breaking it will drop honey or an Ultra Spicy spray, but you cannot salvage the body for more pikmin.
Purple: big beefy boys that can cause shock waves to stun after being thrown and have the strength of 10 pikmin. However, being heavy means they lack speed and they cannot be thrown far and high due to their weight. (Waterwraiths fear them due to the shock waves.)
White: the quickest one thanks to being small. They are resistant to poison and their special eyes allows them to find treasure completely buried. Lastly, if eaten, they will give poisen damage to the predator. Sadly, they are the weakest in damage due to their quick and small body.
Winged: flying pikmin that can fly over most terrain. Excellent aerial fighters, can uproot plants and hold up certain gates. However, they aren't good ground fighters in exchange for flight.
Rock: uncrushable pikmin that is hard as a rock. They can smash crystal, give decent damage when throwing them to an enemy and CANNOT be crushed under any weight. However, they CANNOT latch onto enemies due to their rock hard body
Glow: They can gather in a preparing charge to rush down an enemy in a spirit bomb fashion. Sadly, they are present ONLY during the night exploration for luminals.
