Theoretically...Transferring could still be possible, but you'd have to look into it. MelonDS I believe is capable of emulated WiFi communications, but I don't know if it's advanced enough to be spoofed as an actual DS and communicate with the real deal yet.

Highly theoretical: The DS in question would probably need to be homebrewed to work, if it even is at all possible. DS emulation is actually still in its infancy compared to other consoles: It kinda doesn't get much love, surprisingly.

I for one would love to have a proper Kanto remake (not that weird Let's Go style) as it's the only gen left without the physical/special split. Hell, FRLG are older than some of the people on this site.

No seriously, with the Kanto pandering GF has been doing since pretty much XY, it's easy to forget just how old the actual remakes are. They're even older than Emerald, meaning they lack overworld ability effects, like Flame Body.

With the DS bios and extremely well programmed emulation, in theory, it could be possible for MelonDS in the future to spoof as a DS and be able to communicate with actual hardware.

That would require more of a deep dive on how the DS handled WiFi communication: I'm unaware how much of it (if any) was dependent on specific hardware.
